My observation was at the end of the game Nath said “ I’ll never criticise again” or words to the effect of.
Next post he’s having a pop!!

Each to their own but that did make me chuckle.

Twas ever the problem with him.

He's one of the most talented players I've ever seen play for Everton and he had two spells with us, but he's painfully flawed - often seemed to lack stamina, work ethic and desire. Also had a tendency to be very self-indulgent.

But... when he's in the mood - I've not seen many better. I'll always have a soft spot for him because I know that he's capable of moments like he produced on Sunday, and there aren't many players who can do that kind of thing.

I watched episodes 4 and 5 of After Life last night and Ricky Gervais’s character goes into a rant about the future of journalism being online antagonistic non-reporting click bait and that the woman training to be a journalist shouldn’t bother. His character relented later but it was right on point. He does have a habit of slipping non too subtle rants into his shows but more often than not spot on as the above link amply shows. Most footie fanzines are probably better written than that drivel. Oh, of course “bantz”.

You’re not far wrong there. The one thing I’d say for him is that he never hides. Even when he’s having one of his monumentally petulant crap games, he’s always wanting the ball and trying to make things happen. I can respect that. Others who are having a shocker and know it, they’ll hide. Not our Geri. Oh no, he’ll continue to take 80 more touches than needed and refuse to pass the ball.

In fairness to him, he’s been edging toward being on the better side of things this season.

Unplayable on his day, unbearable when it’s not.

Agree with this and what others have said.

At the begining of the season I said that he was so inconsistant but would probably win 5 or 6 games in the season. Well he is over that number now I believe and hopefully inspired to help win a few more yet!

Javi is working on him for sure, like a father or school teacher would. He has been seen running back 70 odd yards to tackle and certainly does his share in the work ethic catagory. His decision making re passing / going alone is also getting better but he needs to iron out where he slows the game down and stands there doing countless stepovers. I think this is a La Liga and Serie A style but when he keeps the pace up and moving forward (and this is a team thing also) he and the team are hard to stop.

I don’t want to speak for Meister but would think posting the shoutbox up was a one off for this very special day.

I looked awful from it and don’t mind.

    Yep was by request.
We did it for Doyley's 1st goal as well so not unheard of.

As a general rule, ff you don't want it published, don't write it. If anyone wants anything edited however (for a good reason) then report the corresponding post with a note and I or another mod will do is when possible.

I think the balance of good/bad is moving rapidly to the positive.

Even in his bad games, he scares defenders and offers a threat. Our other comparable player, Pererya is capable of magic, but also capable of abject anonymity for 5 games at a stretch.

I'd like all my posts about Gray being ****, Deeney being fat, Capoue being no footballer, Holebas being washed up, Cathcart being a **** manure loanee etc deleted.

If it helps you could outsource to an offshore data centre in India and they could clear the lot within 2 years.

I think Deulofeu is a wonderful talent. I've watched him right from his early days in the under 18's at Barca. When he was very young, he was unbelievable. Ok, he's levelled off since that time, and he's inconsistent, but you have to accept this is the deal with him. If he pulled up trees every week we wouldn't have signed him in the first place, and he wouldn't be at the club very long either. That's not a slight on Watford, but the reality of the situation.

He can win you semi-finals. He's a big match player. I couldn't believe it when I heard we were signing him. I was so excited and I still am to see him in our line up.

Gracia is a brilliant boss for him. He shows him that love, but takes no BS from him either. The way he dealt with him after that Fulham performance was top class. GD was being overly showboating, and playing for himself that day. So Javi takes him off at half time and drops him from the semi final. That's ballsy and shows everyone who is boss.

Deulofeu will respect that inwardly, and we all saw the "anger" once he came on. It was a brilliant response. It's going to be like that with him. He'll be up and down with mood swings. That's his personality.

We should enjoy him while he's here, accept his mercurial nature and embrace it. He's worth the effort and feeds off the love from the fans.

It should be good for him to be the big fish in a small pool for a while to help him gain confidence and develop as a player. Much better than being a small fish bit-part playing at someone like Barca.

Exactly. We'll be fighting off clubs with a stick in the summer, but personally, if I was his advisor I'd tell him to stay put.

It's working for him at Watford. He's getting regular football in a forgiving environment. He's playing in a Cup final, so he's able to achieve things even at Watford. If he goes to Milan or somewhere like that, it won't take too long before he's on the bench again. You have to deliver every week at a club like that.

If we actually win the FA Cup, then we're in the Europa League at the group stage and we'll also play in the Community Shield in the season opener. There will be plenty to keep him interested
    next season.

  13. On the mask celebration, I googled celebrating whilst wearing a mask and the search suggests it’s illegal under FIFA rules and the player must be cautioned.

    Can any expert coroborate this?

You'd have to know that Meister is a Moog account to realise how empty that threat is.

Given the chatter around him and a potential move this summer, I reckon it'll take Europa League football next season to hold on to him.

Just watched the “from every angle” footage of Deulofeu’s goal. Apart from how outrageous it is, and always will be, it was very noticeable just how much the Wolves heads dropped even though they were still 2-1 up. Almost like they knew the writing was on the wall.

I know it's not a trophy or a place in Europe in itself, but do you reckon the manner in which we won at the weekend may sway some of the star names in the squad towards staying? Failing that, do you reckon it might put us on the map slightly with regards to new signings coming in?

Re Del Boys second goal, I don't seem to have seen anyone praising the clever hold up play by Gray, who held on to the ball long enough to enable Del to get a yard on his marker hence releasing the ball at exactly the right time!

Without The above I wouldn't think the goal would have been scored!
