Kevin is obviously thin-skinned which is not a good trait for a journalist, I'm sorry about the family illness, I wouldn't wish it on anyone, however he can't take constructive criticism and blocked me on Twitter for having a different opinion and voicing that opinion.

The publication and website rely on advertising and clicks and if he is alienating his audience and in turn his revenue, wouldn't it make sense not to react like a scorned teenager and listen to where he may be able to improve the service.

Afterall, aren't we his customers?

 

I am not privvy to all of your individual issues with WD, and therefore cannot comment on how he has responded to your feedback before. I think ultimately he is trying to provide a service, and is clearly still trying to despite his personal family issues. I am also not fully aware of how this is funded, but am guessing you are right with revenue from reader numbers. From what I can gather from emails sent by Jane to us paper subscribers and what I have heard through the grapevine on a personal level he is trying to maintain it to some extent at the moment while other things are going on in the background, which probably isn't the easiest, and am not sure I would be able to if I was supporting a family member who was ill, so in my mind that should maybe be supported. Just my opinion.

By the way, I'm actually embarassed to be on this thread now. Kevin Affleck pretending not to be Kevin Affleck to defend Kevin Affleck. It's a bit surreal. I'm sorry about anyone being ill and I've not got a beef with WD or Affleck, but this behaviour is nuts.

I read his Web page about mazza not sleeping tonight. It then turned into a bit of a slag fest how the players were unfit. How mazza only focus on tactics. How the players are falling short. It had the tone of a jilted lover. It is obvious to most he's outside clutching at straws. It's a shame cos last year I enjoyed it a lot. Hope he sorts it all out tbh.

It just confirms my Mother's theory that there is always an error in a report that you have read.

Oh well,poor chap has enough on his plate without all of us waiting for him to slip up.

 

Why is that poor? Belkalem hasn't played a minute all pre season. I've nothing against the guy, but it will be a miracle if he makes the 25 man squad.

Back on topic, I don't think people would jump on errors with such glee if KA didn't have such a self-aggrandising style and didn't appear so thin skinned.

Really smart article here by WDSports, showing great self-awareness and a sense of humour. They start off by questioning Troy's form and fitness, then have a quote in the middle from him saying that the media are fickle and as soon as he scores, they'll say he's back to his best. WDSports then cleverly change tack at the end of the article and heap praise on him after his goal, thus proving Troy's quotes to be absolutely true. Very clever stuff, bravo WDSports!

I imagine if WD Sports could identify the publication responsible for the 'returned for pre-season training 1 stone overweight rumour' that was spread about Deeney they'd lay into them big time.
