The paper itself is fine, I always pick up a copy before home games. The online version (like many local and some national papers) is awful. It's like 'spot the local article amongst all the ****** clickbait', then when you do, you get a few lines followed by an ad, a few lines and another ad, etc. The ads flash away distractingly and the whole thing is bordered by ads. Then there's the ads that come on just because you've moved the cursor across them as you search in vain for the article you want to read. Not to mention the ads that pop down or up at the top or bottom of the screen respectively. Click on 'ad choices' and there isn't one that says 'turn the ******* irritating things off'.
Even with high speed broadband the Watford Observer with all of it's ads, some with videos, some with animations simply brings your browser to its knees.
No. The standard of journalism is amateurish, plagued by errors and clickbait. They simply cannot afford a team of proper journalists anymore something which the Australian government seem to be aware of in regards to several of the giant corporations.
