Good analysis and post 424 - I agree with much of your sentiment.

I used to get wound up but now I've got past caring how the Beeb ignores us and/or stitches us up and is generally dismissive of Watford (and other unfashionable minnow clubs in the EPL tbf).
Hoping they will change their opinion and analysis will just age me and I accept it won't change, frustrating as it is.

Sentiment of BBC and their pundits:

'Watford lucky again, oppo mistakes gift them a win.'

'They've got a couple of exciting young players like Richarlison, they won't be able to keep skillful players like him if their form continues'

'Silva has got them well organised, if he gets more lucky results how long can Watford keep him, he'll be enticed away to bigger/better paying club, then how long can they keep changing managers and stay up' etc. etc

To keep my sanity in the face of this BBC indifference/negativity I try to put a positive spin on it:

' The Beeb (and other media/pundits/journos) just don't understand or want to understand the way Watford operates, they dismiss us and we're staying under the radar. It's good news we don't feature cos the lack of attention and analysis and time we get will all help other clubs/managers/fans in thinking that we're lucky and it won't continue, we really should be beating clubs like Watford ... etc etc

Then when they all wake up we'll be punching so much above our weight we'll be out of reach with 50+ points, but then next season they'll all be saying 'Watford had a good season, but like Lesta, it won't be repeated, we'll mark them down as relegation favourites again ...'

I don't let it bother me at all, oh no, not now.
    Not me.
    I'm calm.
I can take it ALL in my stride, it's like water off a ducks back, like a mere light shower on a glorious summers day,

    - the F*CKING stUpid, IGNORANT, LAZY OVERPAID BUNCH OF FECKING AR$ES WHO COULDN'T ANALYSE THEIR OWN f..ing NAVEL FLUFF..

Just got a relatively long and decent review on motd2.

If only they'd give the excellent Chapman MOTD, instead of that dolt Lineker; far superior programme built on scraps from the main table.

Only team they talked about from yesterday. You do wonder if someone at the BBC realised how piss poor their coverage and verdict of the game was yesterday and suggested redressing the balance somewhat. As mentioned earlier in this thread, they did the same after the saints game.

  7. I don't really give a damn about their coverage of us, as much as I try to understand they way they think, but I am really angry that they spent the major part of a match review promoting foul and aggressive play, criticising a player for making a mistake doing the right thing when he should have been hacking Richarlison down instead. As I said earlier, I have sympathy for the point of view, but to use two minutes of Match of the Day's time to explain in detail, and with a high level of animation, that fouling a player, at the risk of injury, is the right thing to do, is outrageous, particularly as there was no balanced response.

Anyway, I made the following complaint to the BBC; don't expect much by way of a reply - they'll probably just say no one was likely to be watching at that time of night...

"The three MOTD presenters, in reviewing the Swansea Watford match, all agreed that the Swansea defender should have 'taken out' Watford's attacker to prevent him scoring a goal. I empathise with and respect these professionals, that they are honest enough to admit it is what they would have done, but it is reprehensible that the BBC, without any balance or challenge, criticised a player for opting to play fairly, and promoted the use of foul, possibly violent and injurious play (I quote, roughly, "even if you don't get the ball, you have to take out the player.").

The unchallenged and unqualified comments represent an incitement to any youngster watching, or adult for that matter, to use foul and possibly violent play as a matter of proper and acceptable conduct in a match. I find it unacceptable that the comments were given with much analysis and justification (forming the major part of the match review). These comments bring the game into ill-repute and should be considered detrimental to the BBC's reputation as a sports media outlet. Yes, the presenters should be free to express their professional outlook on the game (it is not the fact they expressed the opinion which is an issue), all be it historical, but it was down to the BBC to ensure that foul play was not promoted over fair play."

I quite like the bit about 'historical'.

I still remember one MOTD commentator referring to "Walter Marazzi". Plus one idiot last week who said "Kiki" was playing for Watford. Perhaps she was trading on her number one with Elton?

  12. Sorry for being a bit of a bore on this one...

I have received the following reply, which has led me to inform them that I will be contacting the FA and the Press to gauge their opinion of the BBC's attitude to what is basically incitement without counter-comment.

    "Dear Mr A Hole,

Thank you for contacting us regarding BBC One’s ‘Match of the Day’ broadcast on 23 September.

I understand you believe the pundits implied that Alfie Mawson should have fouled Richarlison to prevent him from scoring.

We know that football is subjective and that fans will have hugely diverse opinions, and it's simply the role of a pundit to analyse the games from their perspective and to provide the information and context that enables viewers to make up their own minds.

Let us assure you that the comments made in the run-up to Richarlison’s goal were never intended to be imitated, as the pundits were simply reflecting on how Watford’s winning goal could have been prevented.

We do value your feedback about the programme. All complaints are sent to senior management and in this case the ‘Match of the Day’ programme every morning, and I’ve included your points in our overnight report of audience reaction.

These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback in the BBC and ensures that your concerns have been seen by the right people quickly. This helps inform their decisions about current and future programmes.

Thank you once again for taking the time to contact us."

I'm shocked they replied so poorly. They should have got rid of the complaint. Just take it all out, tear it up, burn it, whatever, just don't let it through to the relevant parties.

If Lawrenson's predictions had been right we would be level with Muff.
Also did anyone see Lineker's interview with Guardiola on the Premier League Show? A more sickening display of sycophancy I've rarely seen.

You’ve got the advert for motd 2 and the international break before us. I would have put high scoring games first, manu U, totingham and us/brom

Still spuds are good aren’t they? Kane is apparently the best striker anywhere in the universe at the moment. Dele Ali is a skilled but cheating f.cker

Good on Wrighty backing us up on the foul for the goal.

West Brom can only have themselves to blame for their time wasting anyway.
