Watford Fc Kit - Kelme

Why are we always so late in releasing our kits?

 

Dryworld was a real highlight. Didn't we have to do pre season in our old kit?

 

When anyone suggests we aren't tinpot, this is my favourite counter argument.

 

Or Evolution HD TV. Or Happy Egg Co. or Mo Play. I’m also pretty suspicious of our current sponsor...

So many to choose from.

 

That's a bit unfair on the Happy Egg Co. They're a successful mainstream UK brand with Watford supporters on the board. Nothing like the other joke companies you mention.

 

It wasn't meant as a criticism of the company. The post I was responding to was highlighting things that make us look tinpot - I was suggesting that changing sponsors for whatever the reasons were was another time.

 

And lost.

 

I'm surprised we're not in the same situation as Chelsea. I would have thought our contract with Adidas would be up by now and the contract with Kelme would have started already. I guess we've got nowhere near as much money at stake though.

 

Chelsea were already with Nike so same supplier just new sponsors.

Bournemouth and West Ham have also changed to next season's kits but again same supplier.

Whereas Liverpool are finishing this season with New Balance even though they have a new deal with Nike so same situation as Watford.

 

Agreed. It’s infuriating!

 

Is it? Are you really upset about not being able to look at/buy a new T-Shirt?

 

I know I'm in the minority here, but I just can't understand the annual discussion and high level of interest over what the new kit looks like. We know it's going to be mostly yellow and I really don't give a flying **** what it looks like, who makes it, who the sponsors are (unless they're a bit shady) and I worry even less about what fans of other clubs think about it. Am I not a real fan because I won't pay £50+ per year on a bit of scratchy polyester that probably costs less than a fiver to make?

Some people just like football kits. Historical kits, new kits, unique kits, awful kits... The same way some people like cars, or watches, or handbags!

They're a part of football fandome whether you care about them or not.

 

For those interested in the new kit, apparently a Kelme container spotted today being delivered to the Vic.
Win tomorrow and it’s likely to be worn for the final two games. Stripes? Spots? Expect a fade.....

Stripes were voted as the favourite kit in recent years so it will be stripes. Personally I prefer red, yellow and green hoops.

 

Green?

 

Yes. Green was part of the kit from 1898 to 1909. With black shorts, of course.

 

Kits are signed off months in advance. At the club I work at we've known next season's kit since before I joined in November.

Am hearing that @WatfordFC have opted for a blue home shirt next season, in throwback to club's original colours from 1881. May debut vs West Ham. Likely to divide opinion. Unconfirmed re shorts/socks.

Interesting! Not sure how I feel about this.

 

Perhaps we should play in furs and skins (fake of course) as a throw back to being cavemen?

 

I know we're all losing track of time but I swear April fools was a few months back.

 

For further context on this, 21/22 kit is being signed off next week!

Makes sense. Preferably with a claret and blue away kit.

 

Kelme have seen how pathetic we are and that we've pi*sed all over their dream of being a premier league kit supplier and given us this absolute horror, which we fully deserve.

 

Christ that looks horrific. Seems they are really going hard with this whole 'Kelme are big in China thing' as they are appear to be making our badge some sort of focal point in a 'Land of the Rising Sun' design.

Also - sponsors are normally quite near the badge and brand logo - those images don't seem to have that. New sponsor again?

 

Should still be the existing one as it was a 3 year deal that only started this season.

 

Wouldn't be the first time a sponsorship deal has gone balls up though....
