You said that the older players need to "adapt their methods" to accommodate the younger players "sulking", yet he is worse than any of them!
I referenced sulking and going into their shells. I’ve no issue with players getting pissed off at not playing, in fact I’d worry if they weren’t, but you can hardly accuse Deeney of going into his shell. If anything he goes too far the other way. A few years back after a bollocking or being dropped most players would get the hump and come out fighting. Now a lot of them get the hump and sit crying in the dressing room. Just an observation on the modern game, that’s all
I didn't mention "going into their shells, I said that Deeney sulks more than any other player in our team. Also just an observation. But, I would tend to agree that many young players will not have had the grounding these days on their big salaries than maybe younger players had in the past. But it it is our more experienced players that are letting Watford down the last couple of seasons, by not providing better examples for them to follow. Tell me what sort of example Deeney showed by effectively going on strike when the rest returned to work after the lockdown and we were fighting for our survival in the Premier League? It wasn't about Deeney's son, it was about him being the big "look at me" in a publicity stunt. If it was really about his son, he could have easily have kept it quiet and arranged with the club to train on his own, and then return to full training when he felt ready.
Not everything has to be about Deeney and my original point was about football in general with no mention of him. If you want to obsess over him then carry on and I’ll wish you a pleasant afternoon.
Yes, I know what your original point was saying, that you think the youngsters are to blame for sulking and the more experienced players are only at fault in that they couldn't cope with the youngsters poor attitude. You have continued your blame shifting since your post in this match thread where in an attempt to shift any blame from Deeney, you tried to shift it onto Sarr. It isn't me that is obsessed with him, I'm suspecting that you're his mother. But I'm having a pleasant afternoon, thanks.
Imagine what it must feel like to be Sarr this season. Knowing you could destroy this league, knowing there are players in the squad who could make it happen with u but being held back by team selection and tactics. Must be so tough for him.
Yeah I think it was, so why not say Ben, Troy, Tom etc why did the headline have to be about him specifically? The club and players can’t help themselves, constantly crawling up his backside. Annoying thing is, he’s an ok player now, probably worthy of a squad place but nowhere near the must be picked at all costs superstar he’s portrayed as. There’s showing respect for a long standing servant, doesn’t mean the whole club has to revolve around him.
If the metric is playing him when he's unfit, I'm not sure there's a coach we've had since promotion who can escape judgement...
However it was good to see that Troy never went the full "John Terry" by running onto the pitch at the final whistle with his full kit on . #SmallMercies
Yeah, I mean just for total clarity for anyone out there looking on, it's a joke implying Deeney is never ever fit (by his own design).
Yeah possibly. Normally I wouldn’t care about an off the cuff remark. Just annoying that every single thing about the club has to include Troy, almost like the club would feel it was cheating on him not to. I just find it a bit bizarre and a bit much. Just read the piece on Chalobah on the official site. They randomly put in that Chalobah showed the type of performance Troy Deeney spoke about around two years ago. Why? How is that even a worthy mention? Its like they try and take every positive and say he’s had a part to play in it. Sounds harsh to say but the way he helped the team yesterday was by not being on the pitch. Maybe they should make that their headline?
Maybe he really is the manager Xisco seemed much more down beat yesterday than usual! I expected him to be bouncing.
Yesterday's game was full of great moments, but by far my favourite was the absolutely OUTRAGEOUS backheel-nutmeg Pedro pulled off in the buildup to our 2nd/Sarr's 1st. He's the best JP since jacket potatoes.
No fancy stuff. Imagine, if you can, that back heel giving possession away and Brizzol breaking away and making it 1-5 ?. Keep it safe .
Because it's a rare moment when I can say this, can all the bedwetters who said Cleverley was useless and wouldn't be any good in the champ say they were wrong about that? He's been excellent.
Dean Holden has been sacked by Bristol City......no real surprise. They lost again last night, 2-0 at home to Reading.
