I doubt it. People have been on his back ever since promotion because he has an attachment to our Championship days and isn't a fancy named international striker. He could score 20 goals from now til the end of the season and still those morons would say he 'nearly missed 20 tap ins'. He has good games and bad games and where we are, we will simply not be able to sign better. Give him the praise when he deserves it and criticise him equally when he deserves it, but to bore on like there's better options is pointless.
Did anyone else hear the Villa fan's chanting this? "Super Jack! Super, Super Jack, Super Jack Grelaish" Made me chuckle, especially after his school boy antics on the pitch yesterday.
When Stu dies there will be a little statue of him alongside GT, sitting on the khazi, curling out yet another late Watford winner.
Our attacks are more cohesive when he plays, and by bringing the best out of others despite his own limitations he reminds me of Mike Brearley
Funnily enough our first goal yesterday coincided with another visit to the khazi, so we can talk about Deeney being back now, but maybe the revival has been helped by my movements as well?
Watching the highlights I'm amazed Grealish get away with all the petulant outbursts in the ref's face
The only player to get sucked into anything really was Kabasele. In the first half he let himself get into a running battle with Wesley that could only really benefit the Villa player. And it nearly paid off, as the move that lead to him missing that free header in the first half came after he lured Kabasele into breaking ranks and charging into midfield to confront him completely unnecessarily.
Interesting comments from Troy after the game. He said that it's the first time in about 8 years that he's been treated like a man. Been about 8 years since our last English manager hasn't it?
Sarr's performance was the best individual performance from a Watford player at The Vic this season. Fantastic.
Name a striker we can afford, that can hit the ground running and preferably with experience of the EPL. I have yet to see a reasonable suggestion as an option to buy or loan.
My only criticism is Troy not shooting more. I can't remember exactly when but there was a point in the second half where he was 12 yards out with a clear sight at goal and just needed to leather it but he overplayed with an attempted neat through ball to Capoue. He was great yesterday though, I really think he's enjoying having a manager he can talk to and "banter" with.
There will be plenty we can loan, when you say afford, what do you mean? In our position is there any point splashing out transfer fees on the players we otherwise might have bought if we’d been mid table, on the basis we might go down? I’d say no. So realistically we can afford to spend any amount we want on a half season loan, especially if it helps to keep us up.
He shoots plenty, the problem is they’re all blocked because he’s just too slow at this level. That’s the problem.
https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lindajacksonpartners2019 While we are on a high from 2 wins in a row. Any donations to a great local Charity cause much appreciated!
Batshuyi or Giroud for starters without even thinking about it. Chelsea want to loan one of them out.
Giroud has been mentioned before and could be a loan option, how old is he now? Don't think he has had a look in at Chelsea this season yet so possible a little rusty, what is his conversion rate and assist rate? Batshuayi I would not be sure about, he didn't pull up trees when he was on loan last season and I think he played a mixture of midfield and attack. Also nobody went for him in the summer. Pretty sure he has yet to reach 10 goals and this is his 3rd season I think. Both would command huge wages, likely to be more than anyone else in our club and that could affect team spirit. Still, they are suggestions.
Giroud is 33 so 2 years older than Troy. Not over the hill yet by any means. He definitely hasn’t had a look in this season, which means he could be rusty, but this is no reflection on him and his ability. Frank’s modus operandi is to play youth, it doesn’t matter what he does or how good or bad he is, unless there was a massive injury crisis at Chelsea Giroud would never get a look in.
And yet some have taken that as an opportunity to cry over how his heat map looks...whilst screaming that Bachmann, Quina and Success should be starting every week. Deeney, Mariapp, Cathcart etc. will never be popular options as they aren't foreign and new which is why they are continually slagged off.
Don’t necessarily disagree with the sentiment, but I think it’s a bit unfair to lump Quina in with Bachmann and Success, given that whenever he’s played, he’s looked like a quality player in the making.
I find it funny that people are acting like it's a given that Gino will strengthen the team in January. If anything, recent form could prevent him from doing so.
Great game, great performance, great result! VAR was on-side too but was I alone in getting really upset when the third goal went to VAR? I felt the ultimate elation with assorted celebrations when Sarr scored but then it was spoilt by the 'hang on it's gone to VAR' moment plus the 'it's taking a while, they're going to chalk it out' comments. For me there was real ecstasy and indeed relief as the ball hit the back of the net, it meant we really were going to win and secure a much-needed and merited win. The wait for VAR was just horrible. I wish it had never been introduced.
Not sure if it's been mentioned but what about Deeney chasing down and blocking Konsa's (spelling ?) clearance for Villa leading to the first goal? Some players would not have bothered and others would have chickened out or turned their backs. Not Troy, he got there, didn't flinch, faced the ball and got the ricochet which led to the first shot saved by Heaton before he followed up to score. They say you make your own luck, Troy certainly did!
I also can't believe people on this forum were writing off Sarr after less than 180 minutes on the pitch. What a buy.
He certainly did with the first goal. It was a very weak shot and Heaton nine times out of ten would of easily saved it. Credit to him though, he deserved to bag a brace and always seems to up his game vs Villa.
Sort out the grammar/spelling and the police could go on holiday. Should of is meaningless. Should have or should've is correct. How many more times? It's not a matter of opinion. We're right and you're wrong. So, presumably out of sheer bloody-mindedness, you want to continue then no doubt we will keep reminding you of the error. Just write pwopa.
