If we bore draw all of our remaining games, there's a good chance we will be in the Championship next season.

Massive game. Almost a free hit and a win would start the second coming on such a high. Will QSF really have the time to assess and improve the defensive side ? Would be very happy to see us play a little deeper and use Sarr / GD to break at speed with Gray.
    Must win game.

2-1 to us. It’s the hope that kills you.

Dawson does play like The Kaiser.
Unfortunately it is his brother Fred,a painter and decorator from Worms.
Yet again I cannot go as we play Harpenden in the final summer league match.
However Mrs Joyce I Blame Bassett will be close to the action. She was admitted to Watford General yesterday. She hasn't been eating, drinking or taking her medication. Perhaps she was on a hunger strike to remove Javi?
Anyway she was up at 7.45am eating breakfast and probably playing the Walter Matthau role in the 'Sunshine Boys',throwing cotton wool at the nurse.
This is odd, given that until today she never realised there were two 7.45s in a day!
Perhaps the threat of her and her trusty meat cleaver looming large over the GT will inspire our brave boys?
    Perhaps not.

It’s alright for you expat /Johnny Foreigner types who can sit in some far flung air conditioned bar with an ice cold Michelob watching in comfort with your supremely confident views on our defence being wrecked.

Wot about us poor sods who have to go and watch this s..t live, cupping a paper cup Bovril trying to get a few crumbs of comfort - surely there is some hope?

I personally think players on international duty other than Cathcart (as Quique knows him) won't make the starting XI on Sunday.

Because we've played like utter **** so far. So bad that we sacked the coach. We couldn't even beat Newcastle who are even worse than us.

I bet we welcome the new era with... the same formation and the same lineup as the West Ham game.

Good luck to Mrs JIBB and to your efforts against Harpenden. If memory serves me right, this is one of your grudge matches - but aren't they all?

How can it be a massive/must win game and a free hit at the same time? Or was that just for comedic effect?

Is that the same Newcastle that beat Spurs away from home the week before?

Agreed - all American beer was tasteless when I lived there but Michelob Gold ?or Dark ? or something was the only one I could stomach (apart from some decent ales in Irish bars).

And I couldn’t find beefy Bovril for love nor money - Texans don’t know what they’re missing.

    1-1 be positive ..

The last couple of years have seen a huge growth of smaller independent craft breweries, that put out some really good stuff.

I wouldn’t touch the Bud, Miller, Coors etc with a barge pole.

I really can’t see us getting anything this weekend.

I'm heading up for this, another sunny day in Watford, I thinking of wearing my fuchsia pink 80s style baseball cap. I bought it four years ago, only worn it once, shame.

I have a concern, will Fry Days be open, or will I have to break with tradition and go to Ebb Tide?

Watford 3 - 3 Arsenal. Watford come back from being three down.

Late home Sunday night, bleary eyed but content on Monday.

I’m going to say 1-2. We’ll give them a good game and show an improved performance. But their front 3 will force a characteristic period of defensive calamity and they’ll capitalise.

The defence will look better but not great. Sarr will impress on a full debut. Pepe will give our defenders a torrid time. I think our attackers will make their defence look their usual poor selves at times too but ours will be the weakness.

Yep, the mainstream US breweries are awful but many of the microbreweries are excellent. Lakefront and Great Lakes are two of my current favourites.

Don't be ridiculous - neither Wellbeck nor Sarr will be in the squad, they are being rested for Swansea
  24. This is my current favourite beer. Deadly stuff.

Haven’t seen either of those down this way, but I’ll keep an eye out for them.

We get mostly the local stuff around Houston, although there seems to be loads of Colorado stuff for some reason. There’s a seasonal sampler box from Breckenridge Brewery in my local store that usually has some good options.

I was also impressed by the local stuff in Toronto when I was up there for work in July.

I’m off for a week after today, so I’ll be looking to invest in some fine ales this evening to mark the occasion.

I would check out Great Lakes' Dortmander Gold or Lakefront's River West Stein as good initial offerings. The former is based in Michigan and the latter in Wisconsin so you might find them harder to locate in Texas.

Don't be foolish! I live in the US and there are no good beers here. Stuffs cheeps, helps the college students like myself pay the bills while still being able to afford a good time.

You've clearly not looked beyond the Budweisers stocked at your local Wal Mart.

I'm sure I've had one or two decent craft beers from the US not too long ago, though can't remember the names.

I've not tried any of these lot, but there's bound to be some decent ones amongst them (might not be so cheap though):

The Dortmunder Gold I was recommending to @luke_golden above is in there (actually from Ohio, not Michigan...sorry). Highly recommended.

New Glarus is also an excellent brewery (Wisconsin), although their Spotted Cow is probably what I would recommend over the Berliner Weiss. Some places around here make beer battered cod using Spotted Cow and it's amazing (© 2015 Quique Sanchez Flores).

3 Floyds is another recommendation I agree with. Excellent craft beers.

    0-2 to Arsenal.

Arsenal take the lead in the first half. Quique will take off Sarr for Femenia exactly on the 60 minute mark.

We’ll concede a second without having another shot on target.

Under Javi we’d have lost this 5-0, they’ll say.

Can we start a separate beer thread - anyone visiting Boston area, there are some great New England IPAs ... Trillium Brewery produces outstanding beers ... (some other very good micro-breweries in Cambridge) ... and I say this as a committed English ale drinker devoted to the Tring Brewery

Probably best not to. We're going to need to find ways to entertain ourselves given the turgid displays we're likely to be experiencing in the near future.
