A good sign is just how annoyed QSF looked at FT. He knew we should have won with the amount of efforts we had. And I imagine that was the first message he gave them in the changing room afterwards. I’m not sure it would have been under Gracia.
When taking a shot from distance get your head over the ball. This was hammered into me as a kid. It's not just us who hoof it over the bar. Beats me. But use three dimensions (a box) or two dimensions (a plane) as opposed to one dimension (a straight line) for a more considered effort. All three dimensions are in play for a lob with the keeper off his line and two were in play for Doucs last ditch effort on Sunday but he only used one. I don't believe that was because he was knackered but rather because he didn't stay cool and 'think'. Shooting practise this week. Including deep-breathing and a basic geometry lesson.
I agree it's very frustrating to see so many professional players sky the ball over the bar and with some of them the poor technique is there to see. But I do suspect the modern ball has different and difficult aerodynamics. It seems very unforgiving. The plus side of that is that, if you catch it dead-on right it can move about all over the place and is a nightmare for keepers. (One reason keepers so often chose to punch rather than catch - they just don't trust it to be predictable enough). The lightness and smoothness exaggerate any slight bias you put into the kick. Nevertheless, our players do look a lot like players who have no confidence in their shooting ability. One of the most frustrating things I have found when watching them, (over a long period of time, this is not just a recent thing), is their reluctance to shoot. HB1 is right. You are right, too: Shooting practice - and lots of it, too. Coaches should prioritize it.
Of course it makes a difference . You re commenting on the Rookery crowd singing whilst sitting on Shoutbox .
And Sky Sports broadcasts updates on what and how loud the Watford crowd sings these days , does it ?
