I believe there is still a footballer there to work with. The cup match against Spurs springs to mind. But he usually flatters to deceive. He just needs to take his opportunity when it comes.

One of the things to note about Success is that he can fall over theatrically and finish erratically as much as he likes, he's still better at movement, ball control and holding up the ball outside of goalscoring than either of Trondre, and crucially unlike either of them can play as the lone forward in a 4-3-3, which makes him a viable enough alternative to Pedro, or indeed Perica, should it ever be required.

I disagree about control being better than Deeney, whatever failings he has, and this forum and online posters are using him as a cartoon villain now, he does not have bad control or hold up play at all. His hold up play is good, the ball sticks if it reaches him in the first place.

Yes, you're somewhat right in that I didn't fully reread and appreciate what I was saying there because I was originally writing 'Gray', before changing it to Trondre.

That being said, he's not as good with/on the ball as Troy, that's for sure, but from what we've seen he's a better hold up player/he's a lot better at bringing the ball down and keeping it under control - Troy gets far more credit as a blanket part of his 'I'm a big strong man watch me battle the centre backs' schtick for hold up play than he actually deserves - half of it somehow comes from the idea of his winning headers, but, as ever, that doesn't really matter even if he does manage to win the header if in the winning of it, it just blooters off somewhere behind him further up the pitch regardless of where his teammates are.

His relative weakness in hold up play is one of the reasons that he isn't capable of playing as a lone centre forward despite seeming physical suitability.

As JP showed against Brizzle, the #9 can enable other goalscorers with good movement and technique. While Succeess is no more likely to score from open play than Trondre, he's more likely to enable other goalscorers. Perica looks like he might be able to do a bit of both.

Success tore bournemouth apart in that one game he played well in all those years ago, topping off the performance with a sumptuous header.

I will be betting my mortgage on him doing it again. Bookmark this post.

Based on what? He not played in ages and was down the pecking order when he did.

I was right behind it for one of the few times I've been in the Elton John stand. Sensational header.

Also a great away performance Vs Boro on the left wing. Their fullback should've been sent off.

King Ken scored his only Prem goal for us against them too didn't he? Who next, Andre Gray?

I fear it might be Gray up top today, would be unusual for JP to go from being rotated to playing 3 games on the bounce, and I'm not sure if Perica is match fit

Gray will play and score, pull out a rolled-up screenshot from his sock of the Andre Gray forum thread, and cup his ear to it.

Because we were in a different league to Derby then I wasn't paying attention, but were they known as Frank Lampard's Derby?

The entire broadcast is going to be a circuit of meaningless comments about Rooney, our managerial changes and the devastating injury to Deeney.

And he was great for two consecutive games when playing with Deulofeu - Wolves away and Huddersfield (?) at home. And there was the League Cup game against Spurs.

By my reckoning that's five excellent performances. We should ignore the fact he's been here nearly five years, and get everyone aboard the Isaac Success hype train. I, for one, am convinced he's going to be ace.

Just took a quick look at one of the DCFC forums. The first post I read was expressing relief that they would not have to face TD. The second post referred to our defence as being our biggest weakness..........

Yes, one or two banging on about Deeney. Mostly, though, they mourn the loss of Will Hughes. Some even want us to get promoted so that he is able to play in the Premier again. I, too, liked the one about our defence.

Actually, I think Derby will give us a hard game. They are very much the form side. I think we will do well to win this. I'm not saying we will lose, but I don't anticipate a high-scoring game and whoever gets the first goal may well change the game in their favour, as is so often the case in tight matches.
