Even Foster has the knack of mis hitting the ball occasionally, though I agree Gomes' kicking has and always will be poor. He did produce a good kick which nearly created a chance that game though too.

And that is offset by an abysmal one Masina did superbly well to help create a goal scoring chance from, nearly. Basically his kicking is hit or miss.

    Any news on Holebas ?

Don’t feel too confident with Massina covering for long .

He was part of the defence that won 0-2 up at Wolves.

It has to be remembered when coming on in such a match it can be difficult to get up to the speed of the match, particularly as Palace came out fast and attacked his side non stop. A little more help from others might have been appreciated.

It has to be remembered but Andre Gray has done okay at it in recent weeks!

I get that’s a viable excuse but not one that can be repeated and Masina has looked more than questionable on more than one occasion. I think he has the look of a player who came in thinking he’d be 1st choice. It’s not worked out like that and he’s not motivated to try and usurp Holebas.

He looks to me like someone who isn't up to pace with English football yet and will need a sustained run of games before we can judge him properly. He must be going well in training - Holebas looks consistently decent for the first time in 4 years because he has actual competition for his place.

Not sure it's just the pace of the game that he needs to get used to, he goes steaming forwards out of position, and the opposition play the ball into the space he's just vacated. Also seems to have a problem timing his tackles as lunges in when he's never going to get the ball, hence why he keeps getting booked. For someone schooled in Serie A, I'm surprised at how positionally ill disciplined he is, in the two matches I watched him from The Rookery, it was noticeable that the centre backs were constantly having to shout at him. His set pieces are dreadful too. He also looks chronically slow.

He's alright in the air and he's not too bad on the ball. I suspect (with no evidence, granted!) Javi might be more responsible for the improvement in Holebas rather than any competition from Masina.

Edit: feel free to quote this when he's next season's Player of the Season and valued at £25 million.

The jury's still out on Masina for me, we indeed can't yet tell whether he will come good or not, and whether his mistakes are from rustiness and a lack of fitness or a lack of overall quality.

What has concerned me in his last two appearances is that in each, there has been a point where he is defending in or around our box as part of the last line of defence with a ball being played across the box towards him, and he has seen it coming, unchallenged, and making an inexplicable decision to not only not just bang it straight away and clear the danger, but not actually intercept the ball at all; as a result the opposition actually regained possession in an incredibly dangerous position in a scenario in which they themselves weren't even pushing that hard.

It's very difficult to understand what he thought he was doing in those moments, and the fact that it has happened twice on the trot is obviously far worse than if it was just a one-off. Ideally, it just never happens again and we're all golden, but the fact that these instances were based on decision-making appears at first to be a potential worry.

This is a nice graphic from the Daily Mail showing both Gray's and Pereyra's runs for the winner

I'm concerned that Pereyra aged 30 years and that they got confused and put Blissett instead of Gray as the striker.

His kicking was poor on at least two occasions, pushed a free kick over the bar when a better keeper wouldve caught it and also made a bit of a save for the cameras early on

gray needs to be worked into the starting line up
gomes needs to be the keeper for the semi, bad juju to drop him now

klopp would blame the wind, so will i

i dont see much between foster and gomes on the balance of the match although foster is the better pick for regular football i think gomes holds his own

    100% as long as you:

    a) have been saving
    b) can get a mortgage
    OR
    c) qualify for a payday loan.

We’ve got a potential allocation of 33000, i recon you’ll easily be alright. I’m cat b away and cat b home and my son is cat c and I reckon we’ll get tickets.

What was the save for the cameras? Meyer’s header he pushed away from danger well....

Two dodgy kicks is about average for any GK I’d say. And the free kick was an awful height to try and catch - I’d say the recipe was too high for a fumble to risk it, and am far happier he chose to just eliminate the imminent danger and push it over the bar.

All the things you say hold a bit of merit but to say he was poor is just not correct.

  18. PowerJugs

Two dodgy ground kicks is above average, but I'd take that over a keeper that flaps at high balls. When Gomes goes for something in the air he will at least get it.

It will be interesting to see price/allocated amount, i imagine

Category 1 £30 smallest percentage of tickets
    Category 2 £45 joint split
    Category 3 £65 joint split
Category 4 £80 small percentage of tickets but considerably higher than £30

the FA are greedy no way around it, im hoping there are some £45 tickets left, £65 if needs be but would begrudge paying £80 but im a mug so still would

Easy enough to score when the palace keeper is wearing an orange **** suit without even any eye holes.

Nearly all of the Palace outfield players in the graphic are just 3 different items dragged and dropped multiple times.

The image of our half of the stadium on the Watford website shows the split. It's the typical Wembley pricing structure. Cheap seats at the back of the top tier, most expensive are side on.

Not far off, although Holebas was always pretty nippy! The improvement in his positional play has been remarkable this season. It may be down to him respecting Gracia and following his instructions, or perhaps because Capoue sits deeper so there's less need for him to go haring off into the middle of the pitch to try to make tackles. Either way, Holebas has been great this season. If he's out, I'd rather have Janmaat play on the left than Masina.

Holebas has been much more disciplined all round.

Runs around more or less in the right areas & has yet to punch anyone.

The one thing is that he take an age to recover position when he takes set pieces on the right.

Overall, I’d give huge credit to JG.

    Agree with this.
The wind was swirling and gusting the best thing he did was push it over the bar - safety first.
The ‘save for the cameras’ came through a crowd of players - he did well to see it, get across goal, assess the speed and height of the bounce and push it to safety.
We’re all just used to big BF’s standards this season.
HG didn’t played badly. He played well with what he had to do for a 38 year old!
