I also thought he was a great signing at this level. Hard to say about the PL but I'd have him in the squad just for his haircut. You're right Nate's injury helped us get tighter (no disrespect fo Nate who's been awesome this season but we needed to change our midfield dynamic)

When did Chalobah pick up his knock? Was it quite early, because that would explain a lot for a player who's been in such great form of late

That right I agree, however sometimes you can't buy a win, recently its been like we can't buy a defeat however much we try and help the opposition haha!

Collided with Bachmann about 10 mins before half time I think. Had treatment.

He’s tremendously confident. He didn’t start well with us and much of what he has tried since hasn’t come off, but he plays like he expects to be a key player. I think he will be.

To be fair, normally when we 'get away with one', it's a Sheffield Wednesday type where we're largely in control but they miss one big chance, this is one of the few times this season where it feels like we've properly blagged a win! To be fair, when we have someone as dangerous with goals and assists like Sarr, it really cranks the pressure on the opposition, maybe those attempts from various opponents this season go in at 0-0

I really enjoyed watching him yesterday. Agreed at 19 far to good for the Championship. What his best position is though I don't know. By all accounts has a year left on his contract come the Summer. There are going to be plenty of interest in him though.

1 goal and 5 assists isn't a bad return imo. He tries things overs don't, they don't always come off but I'm not knocking him especially when he's really playing out of his favoured position.

Nope. Don’t want Deeney or Gray anywhere near the team. Pedro may come back next year much improved. He has shown flashes of brilliance and it maybe a year in the Championship will lead to a huge improvement. But beyond a very good start to the season, his performances this season have been at best average. His decision making is poor, often moves break down due to him, and often I don’t know he is on the pitch. I am sure someone could create a YouTube video of Pedro that would make him look class, but I see very little from him over a game.

Yes those two goals yesterday were really " out of the blue " and the way the match went they were scored by the right person at the right time, yesterdays game will go down against Reading as the Sarr match, relegating the ghost goal Reading game to second place!

if we do go up I would take Michael Olise thought he was the 2nd best player on the pitch last night

Of course Zinc was a key player in Norway. He has to learn the need to adjust his game to deal with more capable opponents.

The same goes for the whole team. This is an unusually weak Championship, and we're not going to get away with the misplaced passes in defence and midfield that we did yesterday and in the previous couple of games.

You're all missing the really 'big thing' from last night: all those Reading shots into the side netting - it was in the Vic end? The same as the original ghost goal?

That's one hell of a minor injury if it can miraculously fix WTE being the worst defensive distributor of the ball we've seen at a club whose defence included Lloyd Doyley for a decade!

So glad we played last night (and won) and can enjoy the pressure on those below us today.

I thought we lived dangerously at times - Reading played some lovely football and we were lucky they fluffed their chances.

  21. Of course we have to compete for players, some we get some we don't. Thank goodness the club doesn't have a defeatist attitude about that.

I don’t subscribe to the view of some that last night was a poor Watford performance, but I do think that Reading’s was the best away showing of any team at Vicarage Road this season. Despite their current dodgy position in the league, I would be very surprised if they don’t make the play-offs and I would say they have a good chance of winning them if they can put the ball in the net when they get the chance.

If they do manage it, it will probably have to be at the expense of a Swansea in freefall rather than Muff - they have two games in hand on Reading now, and only a one point deficit to make up on them with a doubly superior goal difference (22 to Reading's 11).

Not to mention having won their last three on the spin and being one of the best form teams in the division outside the two goliaths who sit astride it.

Meanwhile, for how comparatively good they looked last night, Reading have only won one and lost two of their last five, surprisingly.

(Swansea, amazingly, are in the worst form in the entire division)

We’d also have stayed up if Mariappa hadn’t smashed the ball into his own net at Brighton with no attackers anywhere near him.

Lots of "ifs and buts" on that one. So many marginal things went against us last season, which contrived to send us down. The total opposite this year. So many things have gone for us, which has put us in touching distance of the autos.

Disagree. The free pass isn't because of his age, it's because of his nationality.

If he was called John Peters from Hull he'd have been booed to death by now.

Have calmed now and as many have said we played OK, it was mainly that 20 minute spell after going 2-0 up that they made us look poor. I think they caught us out last night, being the first team this season that have had 3 very good ball carriers who really went for it. We've got too used to setting up in defence formation and mainly watching the oppo go sideways and backwards on the halfway line and banging in long crosses.?
We did well in that Chabs took a knock early on which took him out of the game, and Zinc is still learning midfield. Poor Hughes looked exhausted in the last 5 minutes from covering so much ground. I think that JP's false 9 position only works against certain teams, and whilst he will be a star one day, the only thi g that's holding us back is having a proper tough/fast striker in the middle.
I feel sorry for Troost, he's a decent defender, but in the current set up it's just him, Hughes and Sieralta that are there to bring the ball out, and two of them just cannot do it. Needs a rethink but I understand what Munoz is looking for, but the 2 of them just end up banging long balls upfield.....

If he was a 19 year old from Hertfordshire that came through our academy, there'd be people calling for statues to be made.

There was fans who didn't want us to sign a guy with 80 caps for Colombia because it would limit chances for Dan Phillips ffs

Where the heck is Dan Phillips BTW? Hasn't had a sniff in the first team for a long time, but also hasn't been seen in the U23s, yet he played for Trinidad and Tobago during the break

If it wasn't for him being 6 inches offside, I almost called it in my limerick!

Superb ball in from Masina though.

Good, I like him, next year should be a big one for him, get some regular football under his belt at a League 1 club maybe. Hungbo to play in the Championship next season, hopefully on loan with us in the Prem!
