I'm not sure how to feel. I want to be positive but all the negativity is hard to ignore. As we've already won the league I suppose it doesn't matter if we beat Radlett on Sunday. Football? Oh it's far too soon to think about football,we haven't even had the second test. 1-1.
442 diamond Foster Janmaat Cathcart Kabasele Masina Doucoure Capoue Hughes Pereyra Deeney Gray Despite all the biblical gnashing of teeth and sundering of clothes (whatever that is) it’s not an unreasonable side Home win
Final post for a couple of weeks... Firstly, I’ve enjoyed ‘debating’ with everyone over the last couple of days as regards to transfers, seasons prospects etc - certainly shows we are all passionate about th club one way or another! I certainly don’t hold it against anyone who has the opposing view to myself. Sad the club couldn’t buy me a CF or a CB as a wedding present but c’est la vie! The season starts tomorrow and I’ll be behind Javi and the boys as much as anyone, Alcacér or Okaka, Varane or Mariappa. If anyone believes I’ve been overly negative these past few months about lack of required transfers or Gracia staying or whatever, you have my apologies! Hopefully you read enough of my input to know it isn’t always that way, honest! But for now, I must finish my pint, go and find my bloody wife and stop her spending in the departure lounge and get out of here for our honeymoon! Seychelles will certainly beat Watford High Street! Here’s to having 6 points on my return! GRACIA OUT!!!... ...only joking. COYH!!!
I’m guessing the same XI that started against Sampdoria. I’m also guessing I’ll spend Saturday evening moaning about Hughes being wasted and Gray/Deeney being ineffective.
Marriage ha! An outdated paternalistic institution that oppresses women, through foisting things like luxury holidays in the seychelles on them, when they ought to out on the picket line. Well, if you must pander to it, I suppose I'd better grudgingly wish you both the best of luck together and hope you have a long and very happy partnership ;-)
All of actor Joe Thomas' predictions look very sensible and better than Lawros.....except one ! Is he a WFC fan ?? Perhaps he still thinks we signed Alcacer ? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45010790
If you scroll down he answers your question - "One of my colleagues on 'The Festival' is a Watford fan so I have got to back them here. 5-0"
My prediction: Foster Janmaat Cathcart Kabasele Holebas Sema Capoue Doucoure Pereyra Deeney Gray 2-1 win, Deeney and Gray. However, as it's the first game of the season almost anything is possible. Oh for sure, but then this is exactly the kind of game which we should hopefully be wining should we wish to avoid having one long relegation battle of a season.
I think that’s the team except Hollyboo will start at LB. It’ll be more orthodox 442 with Doucoure getting forward a little. Sema to come on after 60 minutes and score five.
Burnsy, too much info. You're obsessed with all things Watford, so feel sorry for your missus - try not to bore her stupid
He is a Spurs fan according to the article. That being said parts of The Inbetweeners was filmed round Watford and St Albans.
Will be interested to see how we line up tomorrow. I imagine from Gracia's comments that Doucoure will start next to Capoue in the Middle, then it's whether you have Hughes or Pereyra in front of them and only one striker, or both Deeney and Gray start together. What I'd actually like to see: Foster Femenia - Cathcart - Kabasele - Masina Sema - Doucoure - Hughes - Pereyra Deeney - Gray See if two up top really can get our two strikers performing to some sort of level.
The school was in Ruislip I believe, and I think at least one of the boy's houses is in Watford. Also in the field trip episode, the parts of 'Swanage' not by the seaside are St Albans. Lawro predicting us to win at home, plus the fact I'm able to attend as I'm not at uni isn't the best omen based on last season
Don’t play Janmaat , can’t deffened but can attack . I’d rather have a more solid defender , but who Femenia isn’t available is he .
Will be perfectly OK with Janmaat if not Femenia, but if Holebas is still starting games then it really is beyond a joke.
Who plays down the left for Brighton - and is he very quick? I think Janmaat is a decent player, and definitely adds to the attacking presence in the team. But if faced against a nippy winger - he's toast (think Antonio at West Ham). Kiko must play if that's the case. Assuming Hughes starts, I'd bet all my worldly possessions he'll be subbed around the 65/70 minute mark (unless he's gone off injured before that.....)
I don’t think that’s a bad side as it stands (weakness is the attack obviously) , add into that Deulofeu, chalobah , Cleverley and I think we have a reasonably strong mid table team Thing I want to see is two up top, we spent the whole of last year playing Deeney or Gray by themselves which didn’t work, I want to go back to the system that we used to use , Deeney brings it down, the other striker puts it in the net - it’s not complicated .
Just been watching some Peñaranda videos on YouTube (mostly ****) , looks similar to Rich (right down to the falling over) , is he fit /. Got his work permit / ready to play ? Do we think he will be any good ?
Based on the Sampdoria game, 4-4-2 diamond: Foster Janmaat Cathcart Kabasele Masina Capoue Femenia Pereyra Hughes Deeney Gray Subs: Gomes, Prodl, Navarro, Holebas, Doucoure, Sema & Success.
Their usual left winger is Izquierdo (very quick), but he is out injured so I guess they'll go with Solly March (not so quick). Either way I'd play Femenia at RB, but perhaps we'll see him on the wing infront of Janmaat.
There was bits at the flag and the roundabout where jay rearranged the flowers was on the border of Leavesden and Abbots Langley.
Last post for 2 weeks? U kidding? Wot' s marriage got to do with it ffs, where's your dedication and your priorities man? They do have phones and internet in the Seychelles you know , and if they're not working just send a message in a bottle coco de mer (coconut looks like a lady's bottom !) Looking forward to your full honeymoon report. Congratulations - and Enjoy
