Sarr will be better against Chelski imo. Much more space behind the defence. I still can't get over how unfit the players look compared to our opponents in both games. I'm not sure we can still blame pre-season under JG for this. Combined with the mental frailties of our squad things look really bad.

Thanks for posting HB1, but this apology doesn't do anything for me. It wasn't "silly" it was stupid. "Let us all move on" as if we should just shrug and say fair enough... I know these guys will feel compelled to put something out there to appease, but I'm sick of hearing from players on social media. Take their phones off them, keep Deeney away from every bloody podcast/radio show/interview - I'm not interested in anything any of them have to say. They have one job to do which I'm interested in, and they seem incapable of doing it.

I was absolutely gutted for Gifton. He really looked the part even at 16. I believe Butler didn't even get booked, wasn't a challenge it was GBH.

I was there on that ****** day away to Shrewsbury when I think he made his full debut. No one could believe he was 16 as he was an absolute beast.

So, when people say to me 'what do you want' when I say I'm sick of the Pozzos, that is it.

Ok we were crap most of the time. Ok many of our players went on to do nothing elsewhere. But the players were connected to the club. You would see them out and about and they cared if they lost, loved it when they won etc.

Some of them were only here for a short time, but whilst they were here, they were Watford players, not trading assets who were tied to the club for a certain period as a matter of registration paperwork.

How many of our current squad now are players who aren't actually meant to be here? Players who are part of the Pozzo portfolio with a hope if doing a bit of Bargain Hunt and turning a profit at the auction, and so in the meantime are just marking time here until we can realise their value? No golden gavels for the blue team this season!!

Even players we signed who are on permanent contracts, with little or no chance of a future at a higher level seem to succumb to the same toxic, distanced apathy. As if they go out, have a game and if it all goes to ****, they just compartmentalise it and go about their happy, daily life.

I hate this squad and the club in its current form.

Is also a symptom of the players we buy that we perhaps plan to hold on to. What’s the common dominator between players like Bobby, Gerry and Capoue? Talented, but lazy and hot and cold for their previous clubs. That’s why we could sign them in the first place. When you find yourselves in a relegation battle with your backs against the wall they’ll be nowhere to be seen.

The other side to that is opposition know we only have one player with pace so can push up high hence putting our defence under more and more pressure

Also, players know what they are getting into, generally. What sort of player chooses our barmpot set up over any other? One who doesn't give a ****. That's who.

I think I saw him make his debut too. I can't remember much but I remember the mens toilets were a concrete floor with a gutter round the edges. Just pee on the floor and it runs off somewhere. Might have been Shrewsbury.

There were definitely two times yesterday when the players in the box did exactly that, but the cross was nowhere near any of them.

I know for a fact that some of the biggest clubs had expressed an interest to Watford for Gifton and he was likely to move at the end of the season.

    The promotion season ?

He would have been handy in the Premier league actually given the injuries we got

This sums up how I feel perfectly.

You also have to seriously question what is going on during these transfer dealings when the player we have supposedly signed comes out and publicly states that he has no idea he signed for us I.e French midfielder recently and Holebas back in 2015. Sure it has happened to others too - doesn’t exactly fill you with hope that they actually want to be here.

It's not as if every player and manager we had pre-Pozzo dreamed of being at the club, we had guys who did whatever they could to get away at the first opportunity, as well as a bunch of loanees who knew they weren't going to stay very long. Doesn't matter who the owner is, it's just the way the game is these days (and we're not going to suddenly produce a load of youngsters who will be in and around the first team any time soon like we did when we were ****)

How many of our youngsters will 'make it' (I'll be generous to our lads who had a good year or two for us but who never really cut it elsewhere) even at Championship level? Remember too that unless clubs are completely skint, they tend to go down the route of buying players rather than taking a chance on homegrown youth

I think it's quite common tbf, even amongst clubs who in the recent past have earned a reputation for being particularly spirited (Huddersfield and Stoke currently sleepwalking to relegation from the Championship to give just two examples)

One side, who you would 'think' have what you're pining for, is Bournemouth. But they have Fraser currently refusing to play because he wants to leave.

I'd say it's a by product of the money in the Premier League rather than a Watford centric issue. Foster, Cleverley, Mariappa, Cathcart, Deeney, Chalobah have some affinity to WFC.

Also I'm sure Cucho Hernandez has a Luther Blissett Tattoo.

It has been clear for several years that the forward line is the problem, whilst the defence was adequate for mid table. There is no way the defence can continually hold out error free for zero goals conceded against the top forwards in the league so it is essential that we score some goals to get some points, it is just so obvious. Then relying on midfielders or wingers to score is merely papering over the cracks.

It isn't even just the actual goals we don't score that matter, it is also about how comfortable we make their defenders look, so within themselves, that they can play with freedom relaxed in the knowledge that Deeney won't create space or score a header, and that Gray won't finish a chance or control a ball, or that Pererya has already had his good two games in a season, and that Sarr has got no one to cross to, that we have no one that can score from outside the area, or put a decent corner or free kick in, let alone be on the end of it. Our lack of a goal threat gives the opposition more confidence to press forward themselves and pounce on the odd error we make at the back. Even our pressing in their half has stopped, which early in Pearson's time created some errors and chances, some converted.

But, at the back, yes we have made errors because our defenders are mere average than the best, but we have regularly kept good opposition and great forwards to a mere handful, even less, chances a game. Our defence is good enough for mid table, if our forward line could only just be average, too.

Whilst, in theory at least, stopping a goal can be as important as scoring a goal, the reality is that scoring a goal is far more important as it changes the atmosphere entirely through the confidence and mindset of the players, the relief in the crowd and the expectation. Whilst it has the opposite effect on the opposition.

Then we also have the problem in that our Coach seems to be so passive, and a Captain that, as well as being useless, really cannot be arsed. A disastrous combination.

Those on here that continually made out that we needed to sign a defender as priority over a goalscorer, really are talking out of their backsides.
