Seems silly to say but I think it might be tough for Gray to tear himself away from the south. He lives locally now and his pop-star partner will most likely want to stay South too. Really think he’d be happier taking what he gets here than go to Stoke or somewhere similar.

Capoue can also hit the QB pass out to the wing which exactly chimes in with Sarr’s main threat.

  5. Why? There was a time we lived in a democracy and people could be communist, facist, or believe in god or men from Mars. And we all respected their right to be, providing they were doing no one harm. When did this stop being a thing?

This is a hilarious rose-tinted fantasy, and when was it ever acceptable to allow fascists to freely go about their business 'as long as they were doing no harm'? When was a fascist ever 'doing no one harm'? You know what fascists are, and what their goals are, I presume, so that's a very odd thing to say.

When it comes to Communism, the things that have been done in fear of the supposed threat of it, including to the point of going to war, puts the lie to that concept.

well he couldn’t be any worse than challobah :), but yes i think he could do a job a bit further back , he is pretty physical , can pass a ball and although he isnt fast he was all over the pitch yesterday, helping out where needed

if you had two fast attackers in front of him (JP and Perica) I think it could work , however irrelevant as never going to happen.

I am not against him leaving but if he does we need to replace with somebody physical , we have players with skill but lack players that will get stuck in.

Our players aren't taking a knee because they believe in Marxist ideologies or defunding the police, they are doing it because they believe black lives matter. Anyone booing that idea can **** off and support Millwall.

Not clear whether they were booing Gray's entry or the inexplicably overrated Ngakia's exit. Maybe both.

Troy shouldn’t be starting up front on his own that’s obvious however, he clearly does offer something to the team. He was involved in the build up that led to the goal yesterday and Saturday, a flicked assist and goal against Rotherham and played a part in all 4 goals against PNE. He needs a strike partner.

Really? I suspect that many will be doing so because they feel forced, as standing up when others kneel, will bring wrath upon them from all sides including a hail of abuse from social media. It's rather like coming out, sticking your head above the parapit is (unfortunately) risky.

I very much doubt if many of them will feel their behaviour will change due to kneeling for 10 seconds, and it probably won't change anyone else's. And, sometimes, when the same gesture is repeated it so often it loses impact. True racists won't flinch and it will probably harden their resolve and those normal folk that may just occasionally cross the line without intended malice and discrimination are slowly changing their behaviour anyway.

But they can carry on for as long as they like, and if I was in their position I would almost certainly do the same, as to do anything else risks too much.

Spot on with your observations too @GoingDown

Difference was stark in the build up play.

Brentford could play a hopeful punt over the top and Toney would trouble / concern Kabasele and Ekong. Toney actually won a lot in the air as well.

If that failed, they could pass it round, get it out wide and cross. They could pass through the middle and slip in a little reverse pass or a through ball as Toney was moving.

We didn't really have any of that, Femenia really did try create. Ngakia also had a lot of the ball first half, would look up and bar a lofted ball for Sarr to run on to, not much else was on.

I don't agree that Brentford are all that good. They bossed the first half as their midfielders were better than ours (not difficult), but look at the half time stats: we had the one and only shot on target, and neither side won a corner. They had 16 touches in our box whereas we had one in theirs, but what did they do with it? Just 6 attempts on goal.

Next Arsenal manager, as Arteta gets the blame for the failings of the acquisition back-room boys because they've signed over-the-hill has-beens for way too much money?

Really? There’s a few clubs who have said they will remain standing. There’s some in the lower leagues who don’t even make it a thing so there’s no option to kneel or stand. Les Ferdinand stuck his head above the parapet on behalf of QPR earlier in the year and said why they wouldn’t be doing it. And there was no huge backlash.

If you ignore Toney's shot that had beaten Foster and just rebounded the wrong way off the post and out, so presumably had to have been misplaced by a matter of centimetres at best, and the other free opportunity that he had in our box that he just so happened to put a foot wide, then yes, they barely did anything or threatened our goal at all. Shots on target don't necessarily tell you that much in isolation, particularly not in a game like last night.

Six attempts on goal is also rather a lot, especially when quite a few of them were a lot more dangerous than anything we could muster - almost all of them were legitimate chances to score.

    What?!
Check out the activities of Mao Tse-tung, Joseph Stalin and Laventry Beria, Pol Pot, Chavez and Maduro in Venezuela, Fidel Castro, Nicolae Ceaușescu, inter al. All operating under the banner of Communism and collectively responsible for, very approximately and ultimately never going to be countable, over 100,000,000 deaths and unmeasurable amounts of misery. The Russian Empire had at its disposal the nuclear bomb and a heavily armed army of over 13,000,000 men and women and openly stated its ultimate goal was to conquer the entire world.
I'm not defending fascism, by the way; its activities are/were equally reprehensible, (although not on the same scale).
Shame on you, sir, for slipping that into a football forum.

Shame on you for misunderstanding so purposefully - unless you are somehow claiming things like the red scare and McCarthyism in the US were completely justified, legitimate and necessary?

Why don't you check out the 'anti-communist' activities that took place in Indonesia between 1965-66, as detailed in the acclaimed documentary 'The Act of Killing', in which estimates range from 500,000 to 3 million people were killed under the banner of a supposedly 'anti-communist' purge, driven by a false/PR-effected link by the military between the country's communist party and an attempted coup. The US and UK government's had a great time, meanwhile, condoning the actions and briefing our media to downplay the massacres and lean their reporting strongly towards the false narrative of the coup.

This creation of a phantom 'creeping communism' is still very very apparent in the US today, and responsible for a lot of the division in their society, not to mention the fact that you can easily die there for lack of the money required to pay for healthcare, in one of the very richest nations on earth.

I'm also not sure you can claim fascism was not on the same scale, unless you are making the very specific distinction between fascism, the Italian school of thought, and the movements in other countries such as Germany and Spain that were directly influenced by it and operated under a very similar, but not, of course, identical, banner. One might argue that that could be interpreted as somewhat mealy-mouthed, if so.

Also, as a responsible adult, there really does have to come a time when you recognise the distinction between a lot of those leaders operating under 'the banner of Communism' and the actual driver of their behaviour, which is straight up totalitarianism and repression, and just the same as any other totalitarian leadership regardless of their position on the political spectrum. Just for total clarification, that's not to justify anything they did - entirely the opposite; it was horrific and repulsive on an unbelievable scale. But it's disingenuous, in reality, to claim that Stalin was operating under the actual tenets of Communism with, say, his purges - he was operating as a dictator.

I didn't realise you've been monitoring Ferdinand's social media accounts but I'll bow down to your superior stalking. Besides, Ferdinand may have been criticised for not openly supporting the cause, but a white would probably get accused of being a racist which is much nastier, as I have experienced on here when I have expressed doubts about the best way to tackle racism.

And I have given my opinion and suggestions, I havn't said it is fact because no person can put themselves in the minds of every footballer who would rather get on playing football than get involved in campaigns, not me, and not even you. But I have said, that I would probably be kneeling like the rest, just to avoid the risk.

Ferdinand’s social media accounts? Stalking? It was a statement he made as an employee of QPR and was on their website. It was a club statement. And was widely reported and applauded, not criticised. Not sure there was a need for your obvious sarcasm there.

Your learned answer switches attention away from my accusation. It mentions a number of very bad things, but it is a smokescreen: I accused you of describing communism as a 'supposed' threat. There is nothing 'supposed' about it. And I made it crystal clear this was not an apology for fascism. So don't try throwing a lot of mud around, hoping some will stick.
And, while we are about it, don't try the one about the experiment of communism never being tried properly yet. Because of human nature it has never worked, except to help generate totalitarianism. And 100,000,000 corpses is more than enough for me.
