We were **** on the day and bottled it, there were no crowds surrounding the other goal and no excuse for the poor defending. Admittedly the crowding may have stopped us scoring but we should've never been in that position in the first place.

The points deduction they got puts you into a relegation battle and when you have a team looking at the top half of the table you find they are not equipped to scap it out at the bottom. They should easily have survived but it seriously doesn't look like they will. (You could draw a comparison with us unable to extricate ourselves from relegation last year with a squad built supposedly to compete for the top half)

Secondly I think that the club have been handcuffed financially by the FFP (ot T, I can't remember any more!) .

Of course, some of us remember when they were a regular top division club.

It must be very difficult to approach a season with a 12 point deduction, the whole season is basically a write off and you know it’s going to be virtually impossible to make the play-offs however well you do. When down the bottom they probably also had a bit of a false sense of security for a while too, ‘oh we’re not that bad it’s just the 12 point reduction’. They eventually pressed the panic button with Pulis which for once (much like it seems with BFS) didn’t work out and in fact made them worse.

Yes their ground was thought of as one of the top in the country, used for the 1966 World Cup matches, numerous F.A. Cup semi- finals and now dilapidated, whereas ours has gone from dilapidated to an up to date modern stadium!

Boo! This international break is rubbish. Get on with the game. I was beginning to enjoy football again.

Isn't it. I was questioning my life watching three championship games on the bounce the other Saturday, I’d happily repeat that given the option.

I seem to remember they were one of the earlier clubs to try to modernise their ground. This involved building grand new stand(s?), but in those days the stands weren't really system built, but one-offs - and relatively very expensive. More modern modernizations, if that makes sense, are relatively less expensive, because building-techniques have been simplified and refined. Anyway, Wednesday spent too much on the ground and not enough on the team.

Good question. I wonder if the merry-go-round of manager appoiments in the championship especially just causes mayhem in the long term.?
One week the players have a young vibrant manager that wants them to play the ball. He gets sacked for lack of results and in comes say a "pulis style" manager who wants them chasing about kicking people.!
I remember games a dozen years ago when keepers took their goal kicks, and you see nearly their whole team shunt over to one side of the pitch followed by the shadowing team doing the same. Then sometimes they'd shunt over the over way and the other team followed suit. Rubbish football but most teams had to follow and it seemed all about dodgy tactics and tricks. Not so bad these days luckily...

Who was on the line for the equaliser. Of all the times to take a red for punching the ball over this might have been one.

If they think they are happier, presumably that means they ARE happier, irrespective of whether they should be or not.

Never recovered from the attempts to stay as a competitive force in the PL. Carbone, di Canio and others on huge wages but all for naught and ending up relegated. League One and back a couple of times at least. The fanbase is very unhappy, there is a complete disconnect between team and fans, no local kids in the side and Hillsborough to be honest is ramshackle like many former clubs that used to be top drawer such as Nottingham Forest who still have to update the City Ground. You compare the Thai owner to that of Leicester and what has happened to both clubs and you can see the difference. Legal issues , pebalties imposed for financial irregularities and if the owner does decide he has had enough they would be on the brink of insolvency.

Well, that would imply they'd need to know how happy everyone else is to be able to make the comparison....

The standard test to measure intrinsic happiness is to gauge whether they can be considered clappy also .

I always wanted to welcome back the Professor, that loveable rogue diving Fessi and Pudil, but we seem to have avoided playing them since that muted promotion celebration and their OTT in-yer-face mockery at the farce of a 1-1 draw. (Still say Deeney should have got a pen).

For that alone I hope we stuff them

Carbone was a heck of a player in his day.

    Still prefer Carbonara overall.

With Cathcart and Troost-Ekong likely to play midweek games, guessing it'll be Wilmot or Kabasele to partner Sierralta on Friday (unless Wilmot plays on Wednesday). Would've thought it would be Kabasele as they've had two weeks to work on the partnership.

Masina has a game tomorrow but let's hope that's enough time to recover and guessing Sema will play in the friendly on Wednesday. So depending on injury recoveries could see Pedro, Zinckernagel, Sarr and Cleverley, with Hughes and Chalobah behind. Starts to get quite difficult if either of the injured two aren't fit - Success again? If they're both injured... Hungbo?

Id have Kabasele over TE anyway , so this could be a nice excuse to start our two best CBs.

There's no way Wilmot will start for England I'd say.
It's a must win game so even AB who looks completely gone will not change his centre backs.

Yes, I'm inclined to agree. But who knows, he might mix it up as a final roll of the dice.

Whilst as some have argued that Troost brings leadership and does genuinely seem like a good guy, IMO he's the worst CB in terms of technical ability. I think playing alongside Sierralta could actually bring out the best in Kabasele and they'd compliment each other nicely.

While I agree, as Cleverley said in that podcast, it was WTE who initiated the talks after the Coventry game, since then WTE has only missed two games, the Preston match and the defeat at Muff. I think there is psychological advantage in keeping the instigator of the upturn in form in the team.

Plus WTE and Sierralta are a settled partnership, bringing in Cathcart brought that confusion which ended up costing us a goal against Bournemouth
