Great result, should have scored more. Beat a team we should be beating really. Looking forward to seeing who stays, goes and comes in over the next week as with a few additions the squad will be up for a promotion push no problem.

Sheep shagging Holloway can do one.

Agreed. Ngakia is the find of the season. Have absolutely no idea how we got him but am overjoyed that we have. As for Captain Cleverly. What a performance, a complete Captain's performance. He showed it in example, passion, encouragement and never stopped talking. Just pipped the man of the match for me.

Yep! As for Dele-Bashiru he made it to the final 40 shortlist for European Golden Boy (based on his time at City) so he must have something very special.

Great to see some breakout seasons for teenagers. Haven't really had many in the Pozzo era. Chalobah on loan perhaps.

Ivic post match press conference. He was asked about Deeney being back from 7:00 mins onwards (the press love the Deeney/Watford connection still), and he replied saying Gray was the first striker if I understood him correctly.

  5. TDB goes under the radar a lot but he's another really good footballer.

he looks like a right nutter in that picture, I thought Pearson looked hard, Ivic looks like if you cross him he will rip you heart out and eat it - good man.

Yup that seems to be what he's saying. Gray always works hard in training, is a team player and is extremely humble. Exactly what Ivic wants from his players. It was noticeable Troy didnt get the captain's armband when he came on. Cleverley is a much better captain and leader for this season with all the young players coming through. Deeney as usual gave the worst possible example to the younger players when he came on and twatted a Luton player like the brainless ex con thug he is. Its fun to watch but at the end of the day its the opposite of the discipline and professionalism Ivic is trying to instill at the club. Hopefully that was his last appearance in a Watford shirt.

Having decent wing / full backs means the defence is actually in a position to properly defend instead of chasing shadows.

Completely disagree Re the Troy moment - 1 goal lead, 93rd minute - waste a bit of time and possibly momentum in having a scuffle and giving others a breather/a moment to sort themselves out - Personally don't know why handbags aren't used more often in the 90th as it can really upset the mentality for a few moments.

Yeah, Troy has done some stupid things trying to be the big man and I’ve hammered him in the past for it, but in this instance, I’ve not a problem with him sticking up for a younger teammate and causing a bit of a scuffle to slow things down.

We moan the media love the Troy Deeney / Watford connection but I've seen far more posts about his 3-minute cameo than it deserves. Maybe Watford fans love talking about Deeney more than they think?

  12. Cude>2<

Exactly this - at 0-0 or say 1-0 down, then it's stupid, at 1-0 up, then absolutely fine - Especially as Pearson who came over to look after his mate was booked - If he got more riled up or retaliated he could have picked up a second booking. Pure *********ry. For a while we've lacked a bit of game management towards the end of matches, and have conceded stupid goals when under pressure. Causing a disruption in their own half when we have a throw-in is not stupid at all, especially when the scummer started it.

I think you're right. Music to my ears. Gray back will give us real flexibility I think. Can continue with the 532 or go into a 433. I'd favour the latter attacking wise, but we look so solid with the back 5 at the minute. If we still struggle to score down the line, it's nice that the flexibility is there for change. Hopefully we see nothing more of Deeney than 90th minute subs.

Matt Rowson described Deeney’s entrance and cameo as like that of a pantomime dame!

I’m fairly confident the goals will come for us this season. It could well be one of those years where they are shared around, rather than having one or two players getting 10+ each.

I know it’s an obvious thing to say but I think it was most important Ivic worked on the defence, and so far so good. Time after time after the restart, we put ourselves on the back foot by conceding first. At West Ham and Arsenal we were all but out of the match after 15 mins. Watching Chelsea last night reminded me of our own first-half horror shows. As is the reputation he arrived with, Ivic is building us from the back first, making us tough to beat, and I’m confident the likes of Sarr, Pedro, Gray, Perica, Hughes, Sema etc will all start finding their feet in front of goal soon.

If this is Gray's level, with the right through balls, he will get 10+ I think. Penalty taking will also aid the tally. Get 5 penalties all season, say, and he only needs 5 or more in open play.

Of course, he needs to be back soon and playing for them numbers to make any sense.

Just watched it back without commentary. Sounds like there's a kid in the stand continually shouting and encouraging the lads and appealing for everything - I presume this is what annoyed Jones - Top work.

It also adds a bit more quality to the handbags at the end - most notably "Ahhhh yellow card - Haha you suck!"

Aren't you the one that laughably brought up the fact he went to prison as one of the reasons we were relegated?

I would say that you sir, have an irrational issue with the man.

Of course. If he hadn't, people like 'Moosegasm' and the obvious few would have criticised him for not doing it.

Was a bit naughty from Troy at the end, I've seen incidents like that being given as reds either on the pitch or retrospectively, but in a way it was good to see him stick up for the young lad Ngakia after their little ********* tried to intimidate him

No, I believe his 'leadership' style was one of the reasons we were relegated. Regarding his conviction for a serious assault on an injured, weaker man lying on the ground, I think it speaks volumes about the type of person he is. The judge's summary was very clear. There's no way GT would've allowed Troy to be indulged the way he has been here. His presence is a big problem for Ivic. No one wants to take Troy off our hands. You think 'Mr Watford' is gonna accept being a championship sub under a new captain? It's not how his brain is wired. In his mind he has to be #1 at the club. It's potentially very problematic.

I'm not finding negatives for the sake of it. Ivic is successfully changing the culture in the dressing room. He's creating a hard working, professional team ethic. It's very different to and much better than how the dressing room was under Troy's 'leadership'. If Troy doesn't get a move away he'll say all the right things to get back into the fold but I dont believe his personality is in any way compatible with what Ivic is trying to achieve nor is his erratic attitude to fitness. It's not bedwetting, it's analysing last years problems, this year's solutions and highlighting a potentially serious problem.

If you are in Hoddesdon and you see a six year old blsck girl with a beaming smile like the Cheshire Cat,singing a song about Joao Pedro, that'll be Maya!
I took my Brazil flag to the courts today and she was intrigued, after she got over the disappointment of no Jaffa Cakes!
I told her about the game and she started singing along with me "Joao Pedro, wool ohh,Joao Pedro woo ohh,he comes from deepest Brazil,he made Luton feel ill".
Too soon for the Max Bygraves tune I thought!
She can play a bit too!

You mean the Mr Watford who didn't take the armband from Clevs (and has previously spoken that you don't need the armband to show leadership)? The Mr Watford who yes, gave the scummer a shoulder into the back, but then went over 'high fived' Ngakia when the Ref was booking the scummer? Ngakia is a young lad, and new to the club, imagine if no one did anything or gave it back to them. This is the championship, there's a huge mental side to the game (example the Leeds play off final, our lads won that in the tunnel) and if someone saw that they could potentially intimidate our lads, they'd be getting stuck in from the off on us. Notably the others who made up ground to get close to that corner in case the handbags escalated were Cathcart and Kabs, two senior players and 2 of our bigger lads. You need to be united as a team, and back one another up. Yes we want to win it playing good football, and professionally, but there's always some physical sides who will try turning it into a scrap this season.

As for his previous, I think you're stuck in the past and its a bit sad really. People change, and he has grown as a person (yes I know there's some personal stuff with him in relationships and such like but we'll only ever know one half of it), but look at the positives he's done. He's done a lot of charity and community work during his time here, and appears to be someone who's always had time for the fans, especially the younger ones. I don't see where you're getting the impression that his presence is an issue for Ivic, I think Vlad has shown he doesn't care about that stuff, and he'd be more than happy to exclude such players in training. I also think this assumption you're making is discrediting Ivic.

I'm not saying Troy should instantly be our lead striker either - speaking with what we know today, he shouldn't start against Reading, and should be on the bench at best as he doesn't seem to be that match fit at the moment. You do need older heads when you have a bunch of younger players in the starting line up, and i'm sure this is why we have Murray in case Troy does leave.

You could hear similar things being shouted away at Newport and Wednesday I think it was, most notably when to press our players. There was a similar with wycombe in their play off final. Seems a few teams have cottoned on to it with fans being absent still
