May I just say - (as a professional writer) - this match preview is absolutely brilliant and comprehensive comedy gold dust. It has given many people in my digital social circle a real laugh! Amazing work. (And this is a football forum!!!!)
We will need to score multiple times to win. One penalty award to Callum ‘the cow’ Wilson is the absolute bare minimum we can expect
Bournemouth are the games I hate the most every season - today is a prime example of crap ref, crap team performance, crap weather. Just a big pile of crap
One of those days, annoying that it had to be against Bournemouth but these games happen. Absolutely gutted because I think we are better than them but we are not showing it. Looks like our boys are on their holidays already for the international break. Might as well treat the second half like a friendly and try something different. Bring on Deulofeu and Success and give them more than 20mins.
My take on it. I think we’ve been frustrated by the last two games, playing well and not scoring. We’ve gone out all guns blazing losing the solidity and composure we showed against spurs as an example. We seem to be trying to force the ball in the goal as quickly as possible without ever looking like we are going to. Can we just go back to when we only started attacking in the second half? That seemed to work quite well.
We were on top. Even at 1-0 down. Kabasele's stupidity has cost us here. Even at 2 down I thought we could get back into it. Cathcart has been **** too. Dont forget we should have been 1 up. And should have equalised too. It would be far different if Kaba didnt take King down.
Oh dear - the 2 bookings look soft but we have been poor in defence . Started quite well too . Against Bournemouth too - they will be living it up big time !
Third game running Kabasele has done the same thing, got away with it at Arsenal. Absolute tool. Half the time he’s away with the fairies. These sort of situations are when the coach earns his corn, at two nil down Gracia changed nothing, still played two up top, absolutely brainless! I couldn’t believe some of the pre match predictions on here, some thinking we’d beat muff 4-0. Before a ball was kicked I’d have been happy with two points in the next two games. If today’s performance is anything to go by we’ll get nothing at wolves. Shocking performance not helped by John ******* Moss Not so good times
We got caught short on the counter from one of our own attacking set-pieces for the first goal - something which was happening time and again against Arsenal, yet we clearly didn't learn from. Kaba and Cathcart have both suddenly started looking very shaky again in the last few games, which underlines how strange it was that we didn't sign another CB in the summer.
Such a weird game in a way though, if you played the match back and didn’t show the goals you’d think we absolutely dominated them. We just went way to gung-ho at the start, I know we’re at home but we’re not Man City.
I’m just glad my second team, Bournemouth, are winning. Makes my first team losing a little easier to take.
Outclassed all over the pitch. Absolutely foolish red card - you'd think he'd learn from his foul on Lacazette at Arsenal and stupid red card at Spurs. Ake was brilliant kept us quiet. Callum Wilson, Josh King & Ryan Fraser all better than our attacking players today. I hate Ben Foster's distribution. Puts us straight under pressure. Gracia an idiot for not changing it earlier. Old habits creeping in, arms being thrown about, arguing going on. Holebas was awful, Doccoure & Pereyra not doing much again. Time for a change of shape at Wolves. 4-3-1-2 please. Doccoure, Chalobah & Capoue in the middle. Hughes or Pereyra behind Deeney & Success. Prove the early season form wasn't a fluke Javi, I really can't deal with another pre-season slump.
The Belgian Eric Bailly let us down again today, both cards were moronic and been poor for a few weeks now. Believing his own hype?
We have got carried away with some good publicity we have had recently. Teams like Watford have to be difficult to beat, and not as a wide open as a whore.
Game was begging for width and Gracia did not respond. Hopefully this is one of the only mistakes of the season.
Normally I’d agree but I don’t see what they did wrong today other than take advantage of our own stupidity?
Let's not pretend this is the first time he hasn't responded to what was clearly needed on the pitch and it's cost us. This is the fourth game in a row, including the cup, where his game management has been poor and he's sat on his hands rather than making the changes needed, it was just on an entirely different level today and worryingly brainless. It's also criminal we have a fit Chalobah still sitting on the bench and Deeney and Gray, neither of which are pulling up trees still, playing ahead of Success who looks very well deserving of a start.
They didn't do their normal thing at all. It's a shame as it would be nice to blame it all on them. Even Adam Smith did actually get a nasty knee in the back from Delefail at the end. Back in negative goal difference where we belong.
Am I allowed to resume my ‘Gracia out’ role now lol? Seriously though, days like today can happen at our level in the PL. Not good, not fun to watch, and for a while life will feel terrible, especially with 14 days now to wait for the chance to try to put it right. No doubt there will be plenty of over-reaction until then, but isn’t over-reaction half the problem anyway? Some people, maybe a little understandably, over-reacted massively to our fine start. Talk of a top 6 finish and all that. Lol come on, we’re a fairly decent side with a competent Head Coach and some decent talent, but once you start allowing yourself to get carried away at our level a crashing disappointment is usually just around the corner and your response to that disappointment will usually be all the more extreme. As the season continues, we will no doubt find our real level. It wasn’t the top four place we occupied until recently, and neither is it the bottom three place some of us feared it might be during the summer. We have enough nous to finish mid-table but I still fear we will pay for a lack of summer investment in key areas. We’ve now missed 17 big chances this season, second only to Man City. But it’s all about perspective. Last season we bemoaned injuries, now some have started bemoaning consistent team selection. Life’s never dull supporting our lot is it?
Bournemouth are at best a very ordinary side, it's been a long time since I've seen a team misplace so many passes out of play. The scoreline certainly flatters them but then again we gave them 4 soft goals. And the cheating is so ingrained in them they where still doing it despite being a man and 4 goals up with a few minutes to play.
