It’s long been the case that, when we play at home to a team we expect to beat, the crowd are quite quiet unless we win heavily. It’s when we play more difficult opponents that the fans are loud, unless we get hammered of course.
You seem to assume that if we don’t win a game we are going to lose it. There are such things as draws.
Doubt it. Neither cut out for the Championship I'd say. Navarro in particular - he's 24 years old and has only started 24 senior league games. No manager has ever chosen to pick him regularly, doubt they'll start now. Bin Masina back off to Italy whilst we're at it. Had enough of these bargain basement non-playing players.
It looks as though a falling out with Gracia AND injuries have meant he's not been considered for a while. It'd be interesting to know when he and Gracia no longer saw eye-to-eye and why.
Quite. There are a number of people who live their sad, vicarious lives around the fortunes of their chosen football team and their 'entitlement' that they should carry all before them at all times in leagues of equals.
In the Rookery I didn't think the Blades support were all 'that at' at all. Perked up a couple of times but big deal. We were a bit better but not by much. So, a quiet game. I doubt that acoustics have got a whole lot to do with it. More likely perceptions.
The Big 6 aren't beating all-comers this season. Even Man City are finding life difficult - except against us, obvs. This means that non-elite teams will pick up more points than usual, and thus the survival bar will be higher than in recent seasons
I probably should have posted the link to support the last post I made. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...an-prodl-claims-suffered-lot-watford-absence/
Yes....you can see all teams are taking points off even the top sides. City losing 0-2 at home to Wolves, brings it home how gutless we were when we played them. We have to hope there are three worse teams this season, but I cannot see it. We are by far the worst team so far this season.
I just saw the highlights. We cannot buy a goal, it has to be some sort of statistical marvel that we can miss so many simple tap ins on such a regular basis. We are more likely to miss an open goal than score from it, how is that even possible? I know we have been quite rubbish for some time and our attitude is in question, but we also seem to be inordinately unlucky.
Hi all, I’m currently on page 12 of this thread and was wondering is there anything at all worth reading on for, or is it another 7 pages of people telling other people they should or should not be happy? Because it’s a tiny bit of interest to gauge people’s thoughts on the game but it’s of zero interest to know how people feel about other people’s feelings on it. Cheers
Want to fall asleep? Tune in to Newcastle vs Man Utd. I thought we were dire yesterday, this is beyond tripe.
We won't need to win 12 games to survive, or 9 to get 30 points. In fact only once in the last ten years has there not been a team that won 9 games and still survived. If we win 9 games, and draw 6 more (9 in total), we will be on the cusp of relegation/survival. Of course not that we would target this, but if we did we could well survive. The main issue is can we can we change our form? The last few seasons 18th placed finishes are as follows:
Summary. We were defensive. Sheff Utd has more possession. We had some good chances and missed. Some people are super happy. Some people are still upset and despairing. That’s all you need to know.
Burnley really shipped 82 goals? That's quite hard to believe giving how they hardly concede nowadays.
Whatever permutation you'd like to put it as, still equates to around 40 points required. That's 12 wins and a draw in top of the pathetic 3 points already attained. You can say 11 wins 4 draws, 10 wins 7 draws and keep going down that scale if you like. It's for the ease of typing to say 12 wins and 1 draw. Of course we do not know the exact cut-off point, but teams are taking points off the top 6, which can only lead to a higher than usual points total for 17th place. If you accept Watford are scared of the top 6, which they are, we still have to play 10 games against the top 6. You can virtually write those off. So that's 20 games remaining. If you consider Leicester are now way above their station from last season, then you can probably add them to pile of teams we'll not take points from this season. That leaves 18 games, and of those 18 only 9 are at home. We cannot afford anymore **** ups this season. We have to win ALL those "winnable" home games and hope to get a couple of away wins as well. We have to be perfect now for the remainder of the season in order to stay up.
Yes, actually I mistyped the first column and that should say 09/10 season. That was their first foray into the Premier League. They only managed 3 clean sheets all season, pre Dyche days I guess they were a very different team.
Our cowardly mindset to the top 6 games really is frustrating. Other teams give them bloody noses left right and centre.
Yes, but the only sticking to wins in the calculation makes it seem much more unlikely we can achieve the target, when of course draws are much easier to achieve. Teams have always taken points off of the top six, at this point this season is no different to any other that I can tell. It is too early to say we’ll need more than normal to survive. I will accept we are scared of the top 2, but not the top 6. That’s not to say we have great form against them always, but we do pick up points off of teams 3-6 so we shouldn’t assume nothing from them, in fact one of our points has come from the team currently in third. We can afford **** ups, but we need to seriously start putting points on the board. We don’t need to be perfect to stay up.
Not for the first time and to reinforce what Dominic posted but people seem to readily forget is the use of language again. I have warned one member and deleted a couple of posts above. This childish game of throwing ego around on a forum is quite bizarre and rather silly. Not to mention the needless use of intimated violence to back it up. Once again for and coming close to a last time refrain from insults, respect other peoples opinions, and if you feel the need to there is always the ignore button if you cannot resist getting pricked under the skin by inane babble.
Imagine if we had Dyche as a defensive coach. What he has done at Burnley in terms of their defensive aspect with players that have come from the lower leagues is exceptional. And highlights the importance of coaching. We could have retained Zola for the purposes of that attacking side of things.
One slight addition @eb-hornet I’m kind of in the middle of super happy and despairing. I assume some other souls out there are too?
I mean Burnley clearly aren’t an aspirational team, but what Dyche has achieved is amazing. It would be interesting to see what he would do with a team with money to spend on flair players, like Everton
Three of them lost to teams outside the top six this weekend, we should not be so fearful. Spurs would be there for the taking for any other team. All we need is belief, and we can win at WHL., and if we did, with the garnished three points, and the resultant boost in confidence, could just turn this poor start to the season around.
