Wow. Thin pickings for a single touch of the ball that Gray got right, meanwhile there are hundreds of scuffs, misscues, miscontrols and stumbles. He looks like he's not played for ten years every time he takes the field.
I'm frustrated at everything he does, because I'm a 42 year old who works in an office and I've got better touch, control, vision, passing and shooting ability than he, a professional footballer has. I have no cool tats though.
What are we watching out for; the big deflection that stopped his shot dribbling harmlessly straight into the arms of the goalkeeper, as he had originally intended?
Give over. Gray is poor. He’s had chance after chance and is a proven failure. Your devotion to this player is bizarre.
Gray equaliser at home to West Ham - good move and finish plus Cleverly at home to Arsenal . So 2 out of the 4 - pretty poor to have 5 goalless matches out of the 8. I noticed the scoreboard had Man U tickets now on general sale . Appreciate it’s on the tv but looking around yesterday at empty seats all over , no home wins in 12 is taking its toll.
Sure the family stand might be full up though although its near Christmas and as you say on the TV. BTW Seems like Zaha got booked after being tripped by Kabasele originally - probably for the reaction. That isn't our fault - that is down to the officials and Zaha himself.
Chance after chance? He is our sub. Why aren't our starters scoring? I'm not devoted I stick up for him from time to time when he's made the scapegoat in matches where there have been other failings that is all.
Nonsense. He’s had over 70 starts. He’s now substitute because he’s been a proven failure. You don’t stick up for him “from time to time”, you stick up for him every week. He’s dire.
Keep it full say the d*ckheads in charge. I can’t make Man Utd or Villa and I must say I’m looking forward to the break.
Leanne Pinnock might want to help Gray with is touch and technique. Or is that just hands not his feet?
I guess you could argue he’s better than Benteke who has managed 4 goals from 60 games over the last season, compared to Gray with 14 goals from 75 games over the same period. So Gray is not the worst player ever. But using Benteke as comparison is damning with faint praise.
Geri escapes the vitriol mainly because he's more pleasing to watch. Truth is that he's scored the same amount as Gray with nearly double the time on the pitch Don't think I've ever seen a player that hits the ball with less power
I’ve just fact-checked this and it is true. Every year between May and August there is dip in @Manatleisure sticking up for him. There is also a correlation with no posts tending to occur when Gray doesn’t play. The only anomaly to this was when Gray didn’t start against Coventry, but Manatleisure posted in his defence. Interestingly this coincided with Manatleisure getting several tattoos over 75% of his body of Andre Gray and Andre Gray related themes.
Looks like that could've been a penalty on Troy, shame really as on the balance of play we probably deserved the win. It's okay though, we have Pearson in charge next week so no doubt we'll have that new manager bounce. Oh wait, we're away to Liverpool. Sigh.
Hit the nail on the head there. Dele is important for us but as one of a front 2 he has to score the goals otherwise he's better off wide left and a box striker as one of the front 2 next to Deeney.
Gray needs to go back to the championship. That's where he's acceptable, even effective as a forward. He might have a purple patch over a few games a level up, but we dont need to find out. The good news is that he'll be a regular in the championship next year.
Im thinking Dalby, Pedro, Success, another from youth setup. Should be given a crack over Gray. Plus Deeney, Pereyra, Sarr and Deulofeu take up the 3 forward roles in a 3.
On what basis should they be given a chance. Youve seen what they can do on the training ground have you? If Gray is truly as bad as you and others say and they were up to it they would be given the chance. Pedro isnt eligible to play yet but is from January I think.
If only we had showed the same desire for some of the other games this season we wouldn't be in this position. I don't mind Atkinson not giving the penalty when Deeney was assaulted as he only has one chance to see it and maybe he was at the wrong angle to see exactly what happened. VAR though has no excuse. He has his arm round his neck and the other arm holding his right shoulder. It's a mistake that is clear and that's what it's for. It's so disappointing as we fully deserved to win today against a Palace side that have done very well this season especially away from home Foster - Caught a couple of crosses but had nothing else to do as they had no shots on target Masina - Should be first choice now. He's not brilliant but he's not a complete liability like Holebas can be and played well yesterday Kabasele - Had one of those games when he's excellent. His challenge on Zaha near the end was exemplary and for me showed why he should be first choice. Consistency is obviously an issue Cathcart - Absolutely brilliant balls and all tackle in the first half. I've seen players sent off for tackles like this though. Much better game although some distribution was a bit poor Femenia - Clearly told just to concentrate on sticking tight to Zaha and did a very good job. He was beaten a couple of times but that is to be expected as Zaha is a very good player but also a complete bell end. Doucoure - Still gave the ball away but had his energy back and was not as bad as some have said. I do feel that some posters follow what others say sometimes and that if a player has been getting some stick on here, other posters maybe don't say what they actually feel and think. Capoue - MOM just for simply winding Zaha up Pereyra - Contributed nothing and should have gone off a long time before he actually did. I would rather have Hughes in there Delefeou - So much ability and I would play him every week but yesterday was one of those all too often games where he achieves pretty much nothing. Poor free kicks and corners and never looked like scoring Deeney - I still think we look better with him in the team than out of it. He won't get that many goals but he occupies defenders, does win some headers and gets others involved. Easily our best option up front currently Sarr - I've seen a few comments sayong why QSF didn't play him or why he's not been playing all season but it seems there are some very short memories on here. I know he was playing international football but he had no pre season so no cance to get to know the other players and was coming from the French league is never easy, see Pepe at Arsenal. He then started at Wolves and looked terrible. He then got injured for a large part of QSF's reign. He now looks fit and has a better understanding of the league and the team. Bl00dy hell he's quick even with the ball. I actually thought he played some good crosses in but we had nobody there even to the point where he was shouting at Gray for not making a run to the near post. Is he £30m worth of talent, not yet but he's on the way and he makes a massive difference to the team as he stops full backs going forward. If we play 4-4-2, which apparently is Pearson's preferred system then we could end up with Sarr one side and Delefeou the other. The defensive side of that could be an issue but going forward would be great Subs - Chalobah didn't do anything wrong but equally didn't get involved too much. Gray - I have defended him, saying about the runs he makes and he never hides but there comes a point when enough is enough. I've not seen a footballer (except Doyley but least he was a defender) have the ability to pass a ball straight out of play when it only had to go 10 feet to a yellow shirt. Yesterdays was not a one off. The miss just sums him up. Look at the way he tries to kick it, it just doesn't even look right and will very rarely work. It was a glorious chance that we cannot waste. If we could get rid in January, even for £5m to a Championship side i would do it as it removes the chance of him playing. No matter how young or inexperienced Pedro is, he cannot do worse than Gray. I would try and sign Giroud for the rest of the season but doubt he would come All in all a much better effort and we are improving but it's another winnable game ticked off the list and the gap is getting bigger. We are pretty much assured of going down now but at least I enjoyed our performance yesterday and I've not said that many time this season To the players - Good luck in your first training session with Big Nige tomorrow, I suspect it may be a little different from QSF's style!!
Not from me, he's been ******* atrocious the last two games. Clearly his mind is in Milan. Hope the rest ****s off along with it in January.
Surely Peneranda has to be a better finisher then Gray? I mean nobody could be worse. Any defence of Gray is now laughable. He’s a striker, it’s literally his job to put away bread and butter chances like he missed yesterday, it’s what he is paid to do. We’re marooned at the bottom of the league and we need all our players to at least just do their jobs. Grays miss is no different to Masina giving away the penalty against Leicester, it’s a player not doing their job properly. It might just about be excusable if it was a one off but time and time again he doesn’t do his job. The only time he has a chance of scoring is when he has no time to think about what he’s doing, which just isn’t even close to good enough.
9 goals in the Premier League last season, one of which was a penalty. Not brilliant but not awful either
Your first lime regarding Peneranda is based on an assumption. And you have also answered it by yourself. You said nobody could be worse than Gray yet Peneranda hasn't had a look in. You say Gray is paid to be a striker but so are the others who take the front 2 positions ahead of him at the start of the game. Delefeo should be scoring more goals and had chances yesterday. My defence of Gray is because of the limitations of the squad and not because I think he is a Lionel Messi. If the attacking players that started aren't effective up to the hour mark he should come on and be given the chance to score one of the chances he gets. Notice I said chances and not chance. I am aware of his technical limitations and that he may need more than one opportunity. Which is why bringing on between the 60th and 69th minute is key. When he comes on then I always feel there is an opportunity he will take one of his chances if given the service. When he comes on much later I am less confident. I don't have any confidence of any of our other eligible bench players to score if I am being honest. Again, as I said earlier, that is the limitations of the squad. I am not related to Gray in any way and I don't have any tattoos.
Honestly just give it up. He gets a golden chance, he fluffs it, again. The circumstances are irrelevant. As a striker that’s the one single part of his game that he should be good at. The 60 yard run is irrelevant, coming on as a sub is irrelevant, what your team mates have or haven’t done up to that point is irrelevant. You’re paid to do that little bit at the end 12 yards out from goal, the bit you supposedly train all week to do.. but you can’t. Simply not good enough and it will be a huge contributing factor to us getting relegated.
