What are we all expecting from this then? Will be interesting to see if the likes of Sarr and Capoue are involved. Spurs are missing a lot of players on international duty but are still expected to field a strong team. We will be without Cathcart and Sema. Excited to see Estupinan in a Watford shirt for the first time, and maybe we will see Suarez from the start? Murray will probably play a part too. Will Sierralta and Perica actually be announced before the match?
I'd have thought Ivic would like to stumble across some kind of the 4-3-3/4-5-1 that he prefers, so I'd imagine Sarr and Penaranda will play. Be interesting to see, tentatively looking forward to it (until we see Gray play 90 and Sarr, Estupinan and Capoue out!)
This is like the early days of Pozzo Watford, not knowing much about the players or the coach or the style, it's way more interesting than the last few summers.
I wouldn't read too much into Sarr's absence as he's been in quarantine after coming back late from Senegal. I think the 15 (not including Barrett, Phillips & Stevenson) from the Scunthorpe match plus Penaranda, Estupinan (hopefully) & Murray will make up part of the squad going forward, but it will be interesting to see if Fessi is involved and maybe whether some of the others are part of it, such as Capoue, Welbeck & Pereyra. I think if there are any notable missing names, then they'll certainly be on the exit list. Of course anyone recovering from injury such as Wilmot, Janmaat & Success cannot be considered excluded from the squad at this stage, not that Wilmot's place is in any doubt. Hopefully Sinclair won't be part of things. I read today that Navarro doesn't want to be at the club, so I don't expect he'll be playing either. I'll be looking out for Troost-Ekong, but that maybe just rumour. I've not seen him in any training shots or hotel treadmill photos. I'll have one eye on Swansea's team news also, just to see if Grimes is part of their squad.
I hope all our likely first team squad for next Friday night will take at least some part in the spurs game tomorrow, as we will be looking at only SIX DAYS before our season starts. Therefore Vlad should hopefully have some idea of how he wants the team to play and who he wants in his match day squad for our season opener against Boro.
When do the squads have to be submitted to the football league? Or is it up in the air until the transfer window closes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No you have to submit the completed squad to the Football League before the first game of the season. Any new signings after that before the window closes will have to wait until January to be able to play.
I seem to recall you can make adjustments to the squad after the main announcement, so I assume there'll be some edits being made the week after when the Premier League teams come and buy up EFL talent past the window
Interesting question and point, but does anyone actually know what the rules are? Or indeed even if we do have to have a fixed size of squad in the Championship?
Obviously you can register players during the transfer window or transfer windows wouldn't be a thing
There’s going to a s***storm on the forums when several key players aren’t involved and their futures will be wildly speculated about.
I wonder if we will bother to announce Perica and Sierralta beforehand, or whether they are just going to play and totally confuse both sets of commentators
Sarr won’t be playing - even If he has stated training this week, he won’t be fit enough - he might make the bench v boro
Just paid the grand total of £5.00 for today's game. Predicted line up... Foster Ngakia Kabasele Dawson Estupinan Hughes Cleverley Quina Pedro Suarez Sema
I think it's likely we continue with 3-5-2 unless Sarr is involved. Interestingly Warnock yesterday said we have a 'really good' front 3 - I wonder if he knows anything we don't or if he just presumes Sarr will be ready.
João Pedro has just tweeted about the game so I think it's safe to assume we will see him feature this afternoon.
