Free hit. End of. Full stop. Already convinced the game is a write-off such is the gulf in everything between the clubs. I just really hope we dont get those fans on here afterwards when we lose by a landslide saying it was a pleasure or privilege to watch their players. Right winds me up!
b..b..b..but we were losing 3-0 at home to Yeovil not so long ago. I consider it nothing short of an honour and a privilege to be smashed into little pieces by Manchester City.
Why not stick Gomes and Foster up front? Shove Holebas in goal and let Gray pick the side with Kabasele officiating? Seriously though would it really make a difference? Not going but il see you lovely lot in the shout box as loads of goals fly in to our net as the GD takes a negative bashing. 0-7
3-0 to us, not sure why all the negativity. Manchester City? B0lox, I missed the first 3 letters and thought we were playing Chester City. Not a prayer, damage limitation. Is Aguero fit as he seems to like playing at Vicarage Road
He didn't play at the weekend and rumour has it he's still not fit. So likely to be limited to just a hattrick this time.
Hopefully City will rest Aguero again, as well as Sterling, and also Sane, B. Silva, D. Silva, Fernandinho, Laporte, Walker, Jesus and Mahrez. If so then maybe, just maybe, we might have a chance of getting something.
I see City are away at Chelsea at the weekend. Hopefully they'll rest some of their world-beaters for that. I'd take a draw
I am really looking forward to seeing Man City, it will be a pleasure and privilege to watch their players
I personally feel honoured that they are prepared to send 11 players and some subs this far south to play us. I expect our boys have already decided amongts themselves who will be standing next to who when the HT and FT whistles go, for the 2 shirt swaps.
The press and attention would all be on Man City for losing, not on Watford for winning. Either way, it’s not happening.
Same here, I really hope our players show that respect like they usually do against big teams - you know, when we're 4-0 down and the defenders are laughing with their strikers or Deeney is having a nice little chat with their captain. Will be my first game of the season as well, hopefully Aguero is fit.
Man City have to lose to someone eventually. The ‘experts’ all say there’s no way a team can go the whole season unbeaten. It would be as unlikely as Leicester winning the league...
I can take losing to the likes of City and Liverpoo. There players are so much better than ours it is to be expected It’s not beating Leicester, Fulham, Newcastle, Southampton and being smashed by Bournemouth that does me in. Those are the matches that will define our final league position.
We create plenty of decent chances throughout a game that we're bound to click and take some of them sooner or later. This game will not be that game though. I'm inclined to think of it as one to get through it with no injuries, stay calm and focus on more winnable games coming up. We're the lesser of two evils where we make chances and don't take them rather than not create many to begin with and this will be reflected come end of the Season. It's easy to get down about these runs but any team barring the Top 4 suffer these throughout a Season. We just need to grin and bear it until we fight through it.
We are really up against it, the likelihood of us winning this is remote enough, but then you have the added problem that in the eyes of the officials we should not be winning against the likes of Man City. So if we do by some miracle get towards the end of the game a goal up, then expect every decision to go against us, including penalty and / or red card(s) and plenty of added time for them to score in.
All things considered, and knowing full well what the likely full time outcome will be, I’d like to see Gracia mix it up a bit for this game at least! What I hope for: (4-2-3-1) Foster, Janmaat, Kabasele, Cathcart, Masina, Chalobah, Doucoure, Deulofeu, Quina (as Cleverley wont be risked I suspect), Pereyra, Success What I expect: (4-5-1) Foster, Kiko, Mariappa, Cathcart, Holebas, Deulofeu, Hughes, Chalobah, Doucoure, Pereyra, Deeney ...or maybe somehow I can see him playing Deulofeu as a lone striker seeing as it’s City and with Hughes back on the wing - but I fail to see who he would put as the extra man in the middle with Capoue likely suspended.
Well one thing is for sure - we won't have a lot of the ball or attack much so the chances of us scoring must be a negative percentage ! In an ideal world we'd want to play the striker who can hold the ball up and bring others into play but can any of ours do that ?! As for the defence - any combination won't keep City out .
10/1 for a Watford win or 5/1 for a draw. Even though I think we'll get smashed, I have this crazy thought rattling around in my head. "I knew someone would get a bit of a hiding if finally we took all our chances, but I never thought it would be City".
Either of these two options. Unfortunately, our striking options are so weak that I think Gray is actually the best choice. 1. Try and score 2. Get Hughes biting and tackling, get a turnover and get Gray in behind. .
If you type in Alex Scott "go again" then you can get all manner of advice on this subject. Before the City game I suggest "Recover, eat, rest and go again." After we get destroyed there is more advice available: "we need to get our heads up, pick ourselves up and go again"
