Video Games Thread

XCOM 2 is horribly poor in terms of stability. It's a brilliant game with as much in the wqay of minor additions that XCOM: EU/EW desperatly needed, but if you plan on buying it leave it a month or two until stability improves.

If you're like me however and want to power through it you need to turn off Steam Cloud Synchonisation and also disable Steam Overlay In-game. I've found it really decreases the frequency of crashes and in-game performance. And when it does crash, RESTART YOUR PC. It will not load up again I find after the splash screens and may crash Steam.

 

Diablo III Reaper of Souls. Started off pretty good. Completed on 3 difficulties. Now bored.

OK, Breathe.

 

Playing The Division and generally I'm enjoying it, only problem is some of the missions are really really difficult.

I've spent in total on the Rooftop Array about 8 hours trying to complete the final boss fight...reason it's taking so long? The final battle comes in 4 waves, and you get surrounded protecting an engineer.

It's so fecking frustrating that I had to abort the mission after 3 hours this morning....starting to hate it now!

I really enjoyed Alien: Isolation, i've never played a game like it. I've played games where i've been scared before, but you normally have a gun or a weapon to fight your way out. No such luck here. Just running and hiding. The adrenaline rush is crazy.

 

The Last of Us: Part II...

 

The Last of Us is possibly the best game I've ever played...ever. The emotional investment in the characters was unprecedented.

I just hope this one lives up to the first.

 

I rarely have time or interest in playing video games, but I will make time for Last of Us 2. The first one was incredible, outstanding, superb, more than a game, it was an experience.

 

Just touching the surface of the hidden meanings in the two Death Stranding trailers has convinced me it's going to be a masterpiece.

Great soundtrack of southern soul set to post Vietnam war New Orleans.

Good writing and performances .

Rainbow 6 Siege is amazeballs when playing with friends.

 

Just preordered the Nintendo Switch with a couple of games for the family.

 

Playing the wolf among us. its a telltale game, its great.

 

I've just finished Telltale's Walking Dead Season 1 and 2. Absolutely fantastic.

 

I've played season 1. If you liked it give the wolf among us a go, great story.

 

I hope so.

My mates and I have all decided we're going to download it on the Xbox One and give it a go.

We've been playing BF1 and I'm not really enjoying it. They have tried to make it more realistic than previous Battlefield games, but by doing this they've taken a lot of the fun away. One of the reasons I'm getting Rainbow Six Siege.

Also played a lot of Ark Survival Evolved recently. Not really the sort of game I like usually but it's very addictive.

 

Breath of the Wild is quite possibly the best game I have ever played. Already looks set to be a timeless masterpiece to me. Do yourself a favour and play it.

 

Finally finished GTA V (just the three years late), having had it on Xbox 360 the day of release and never completing it, and rebuying it for PS4 about 18 months ago and... never completing it.

Fantastic game, definitely one of the best of the last generation, but I did find the city/map somewhat boring (though nowhere near as much so as Liberty City, zzzzzz) despite being so huge, and Franklyn as a character was nowhere near up to the standard of Michael and Trevor and was actually pretty irritating for the most part.

Will be interesting to see how they top it on the next one, which I imagine won't be until 2019 at absolute best. Hopefully they return to Vice City or go somewhere new entirely, think we've seen enough of Liberty City and Los Santos.

 

I finished it finally on Sunday, after the exact same scenario as you in terms of owning it for 360 first.

How odd.

 

Mainstream option but Uncharted 4 is absolutely brilliant .

Only half way through but me and the nipper started it on Saturday morning and were still playing it Sunday eve in our pyjamas from Saturday, having gone unchanged in 2 days .

Feel a bit bad as it was sunny the whole weekend and we should have been outside but he told me it was the best weekend he d ever had so it was well worth it .

 

And thanks for the GTA V update , has inspired me to go back and finish it . I got up to the bit where he smokes some skunk and starts hallucinating aliens .

 

I was walking around a pier with the family today in deepest Somerset and found an original space invaders machine. You kids today, I almost feel sorry for you, nothing compares to Space Invaders, (asteroids ran it close though).

 

Space Invaders was my first ever game . Galaxians is still my favourite

 

Anyone played Dying Light? First game in years that I've actually got addicted to, 70% through the original story and enjoying it so far.
