Feels like there were a few VAR decisions that could have been changed yesterday.

Will be interesting next year with this on place.

VAR will only change the "matter of fact" things like offside, did the ball go out of play before the cross etc. It won't change the fact that for a second a referee won't give big negative decisions against the big clubs and their players, i.e. taking Holebas' red yesterday, had that been a City defender, it would have been a yellow.

You're right. See Kyle Walker not being sent off in the FA Cup Semi Final against Brighton.

The game in this country is heavily weighted in favour of the bigger clubs. Whether it's deliberate or unconscious it clearly is a "thing". Insignificant clubs (as regarded by all outside of Watford's own fanbase) will always suffer the most. VAR will help to a degree, but of course, it won't change bias or cheating by an official.

I do believe the top 6 will all be down on their points total next season though. It will be interesting to see that, although United should get better than their measly total. I don't think City or Liverpool will get anywhere near their points totals with VAR in place next season.

I’m calling this table as complete and utter ****ocks.

Spurs bottom but Liverpool still 4th? Nonsense.

It was all believable until I saw Spurs at the bottom. They won 23 games, but this table only shows 6, too big a change to be correct.

Look at the goals - scored 67, after VAR 32, conceded 39, after VAR 56.

I think this was created by an Arsenal supporter.

  19. How the **** was this worked out? Presumably by someone with very good computer skills?

As someone else has said Spurs finishing bottom is the most unbelievable thing about it, our position for me is not to unbelievable IMO, as I have said in a previous post that bad decisions have cost us about 20 points this season.

Therefore 70 points for us would be about right IMO!

The references to NFL are wide of the mark. Completely different games. In NFL a play lasts 5-10 seconds max, if a flag is thrown the play still carries on and is reviewed at the end. It’s a natural stoppage in the game anyway. In NFL you have god knows how many umpires, because they are needed. Any one player could be involved in a ‘foul’ on and off the ball. It would litteraly be impossible for one referee to spot any incidents like they are expected to in football. ‘VAR’ is integral to the game and it would be almost impossible to not use it.

Maybe however that is where football has gone wrong over the years? We’ve traditionally had a ref and two lineman... well maybe that was never nearly enough. I know they trialled that thing with officials behind the goal line that never really worked (because they seemed too scared to give anything themselves) but because the game has been played with three officials for litteraly a hundred years or more, VAR seems a big adjustment now when in reality it should just be a natural progression.

Lol, love that. Also shows that I guess we have at least one West Ham supporter who quite likes us.

Awful news. I'd rather they showed the quality level of ref related chat and bantz in the pub after the game table.

After all, that's what it's all about.

Apparently next season in the Premier League under VAR the linesmen will be flagging for close offsides as normal but the players will be expected to continue playing until the whistle is blown to see if they can score. However in UEFA competitions the linesmen will not flag. Recipe for disaster?

After VAR decisions are made the incident will be shown on the big screen...except at Liverpool and Man U where they don’t have them. Hmmm.... Over to you HB1.

Yeah. Got to be hard as defender to keep playing when you see the flag up after years of knowing it’s attack over? UEFA have it right. Why the difference?

I’d wager the PL don’t trust the fans to get it if they go the way competitions using VAR have so far. It’s a decision that protects the officials from even more criticism.
