I'd expect a hefty cash sum coming our way too.

    Rather reigniting the Deeney-Ighalo partnership.

United want Deeney, Spurs want Deeney.........our fans hate him. Maybe our fans are the idiots in all this??

Have we yet established whether Troy is a good or bad influence in the dressing room?

Does he have too much influence? or is he the glue that sticks things together?

If he is a good influence think he should stay, if not he should go

    Hasn't Ighalo's loan ended?

I think it's not as black and white as that Deeney looks good if you are watching MOTD highlights but as we have seen the past 18 months his all round game has massively declined unfortunately. I'm greatful for his service to the club but if he wants to go for one last hurrah I wouldn't be too disappointed to see him leave.

Why are you making such sweeping statements? Have you read my previous post?

What I have highlighted in bold is factually incorrect. Some seem to hate him, yes, but not all. Some just feel his time here is up and he doesn't offer enough anymore.

Stop being so divisive and tarring everyone with the same brush.

I think you’re being a little over sensitive and taken it too personally. It wasn't directed at you, why would it? It is directed at our fans in general, who are as thick as mince to not see the value Deeney would give us in the Championship after a difficult relegation season.

I think you haven't read the posts in this thread properly.

Why can we not have a sensible debate in this thread without you claiming that anyone who doesn't want us to keep him 'hates Deeney'?

It's a tag. Like the term often used on this forum such as 'bed wetter' or 'happy clapper'. You shouldn't get so hung up on it.

Fair enough. You are capable of writing insightful and well-thought out posts. However, you should understand however that you're doing yourself a disservice every time you make sweeping statements like this. You undermine your own credibility when you do so. I'm not trying to attack you here. I am simply giving you an outsider's perspective, from someone that has read your posts for years now.

With all due respect.....I really don't care how I'm perceived or the credibility I have or don't have. I write what I like, when I like, depending on the mood I'm in. I never write for others, I only write for myself, to get things off my chest when events arise. If people like it, fine....if people don't, fine.

So you can write what you like and the people who disagree with you are thick as mince? Got it. I haven't been on here much but you seem to have a knack of making things all about you. Are you sure it's not you who is a bit sensitive?

I wouldn’t call people ‘thick as mince’ because they want to move on from a player that largely held us back last season. Our owners have been so terrified to be relegated and our managers so terrified to take any risks that Deeney has been an automatic pick to the detriment of our PL survival. Now we have been relegated the club have finally got that monkey off their back so finally we can take some risks and try something different. But you’re the enlightened one because even now, you want to stick with a 32 year old striker with a dodgy knee (two operations on it so far this year) and the acceleration of a grand piano?

When someone has to resort to calling other fans thick as mince it usually means they're wrong and just doubling down for arguments sake.

If Deeney stays then I just hope we have a manager who plays to his strengths and has someone alongside him.

The Deeney argument is a tricky one. Generally when we fans start to disagree on a player's impact it inevitably is the beginning of the end if not the end already.

I for one have a mixture of emotions. When I think hard about it I can't help but respect what he has given us the last 10 years and it is odd to think of a squad that doesn't feature his name. I also think it would be beneficial to keep hold of a player who was inspirational on getting us up and hit 64 Championship goals in 3 seasons before promotion. In a way I would be interested to see how he would help us achieve an immediate bounce back and whether his motivation is still there. Clearly he's not the same player as 5 years ago but I do wonder about leadership without him.

On the other hand, I do see others' opinions and concerns about sticking by him. Deeney has been great for Watford and Watford great for Deeney but everything comes to an end at some point. I must admit the style of play was utterly depressing just loading the ball to him and allowing others to feed off that and would be more than happy to see a more exciting brand of football. I hate the idea of player power but it is a sign of the times and although I'm sure he's not the only one capable of causing a stir, there comes a time where I think the focus on him pulls away from allowing youngsters like Pedro to develop. There's always a danger of clubs becoming stagnant with sticking by players too long, but he is a rarity when it comes to the relationship with the club and its fans, we've been loyal to him through thick and thin and I'd hope that he wasn't quick to forget that.

Hard to sum up but only just my thoughts!

Well I’m firmly in the time for him to move on camp.

I’m sure he could have a good season with us, but I don’t want to hear his name more than every other player who currently or who has ever played for us combined every time we are mentioned.

Big game for Watford let’s hear from Troy

Sarr was man of the match today let’s see what our best mate Troy thinks about him

Council tax rises in Watford - thoughts Troy?

New manager - Troy tell us what you think of him

A lovely story about Tom Cleverley opening up a home for stray dogs. Let’s go and hear all about it from the man himself - so do you like dogs Troy?

Let’s talk about Watford’s tactics today - with Troy playing if they can get the ball up to him he’ll make them tick

Let’s talk about Watford’s tactics today - with Troy out injured they are going to struggle to get the ball to him.

A 7-6 aggregate play off semi-final win with a sensational last minute winner from Welbeck, having had Foster wrongly sent off, the manager making those inspirational 3 subs at half time and Dawson’s overhead kick goal line clearance- let’s go and speak to Troy about his poorly knee.

    I’m done with that.

Plus he’s not that good anymore.

    Eccellent. Though you missed out:

Watford lose to West Ham after going 3 down inside half an hour in what was a must win game. Relegation now looks likely. What do you think Troy? Troy? Ah no, you don't do these so let's throw Will Hughes into it instead.

Are championship defenders somehow all ridiculously slow? Because let’s not forget Troy hasn’t beaten an offside trap for several years now. He also doesn’t score from open play anymore either. The reasons given for keeping him seem to be for his hold up play and flick ons, here’s a thought, maybe we could look at a striker who can beat the offside trap, who can score from open play... you know the more traditional features you look for in a striker... actual goal scoring ability.

Home v West Brom just over two years ago?

Home v Liverpool, away v West Ham this season.

OK he is getting past it and doesn't do these things as often as he used to but not as bad as you make out.

I didn't like Deeney when he arrived and he was played out of position, he was at his worst when we started to play him in his favoured position in the championship. The early Pozzo years were the worst too. I didn't enjoy seeing him play for us after promotion at all. After that my view of him went into somewhat of a decline.

He needs to play for a top 6 club for a while to progress his media aspirations and to be taken seriously. Spurs would be ideal, even if he didn't play much.

This isn't 2015 We cant build a team around him now

As much as I've felt he's been bobbins more often than not these last few years my God has that club video made me feel proud of our team, club, owner and as aformer happy clapper of Troy I'm reminded just how bloody good he's been for us!!!
