And now Shearer
That article shows how his head has grown since his Walsall days
He is more than capable of playing at this level. That instant one touch pass which set Pereyra free was top notch. He has an excellent all round game and is far superior to Carroll. What amazes me is that despite his efforts last season ghe was not considered for the European Championships. Apparently the face doesn't fit a bit like Drinkwater who was overlooked.
A bit of a coincidence too. Ninety nine pages for Troy and ninety nine goals for the club. Nath's original post is worth looking at.
As per last post, this is well worth bumping. Nath's original post in 2010
This proves that moog is right half of the time :sick1:
Top 5 target man striker in the PL and comfortably the best English one
Easily deservers a place in the squad, should have been included a long time ago ahead of crap like Sturridge, Lingard, Carroll, Welbeck. There isn't a single established English striker on form right now either.
With all of this in mind, I look forward to seeing him pipped to a place by Chuba Akpom of Arsenal
I reckon Wilson will be called up. Southgate is a fan having called him up a couple of times for the U21s. And he clearly plays for Saint Eddie so it's a done deal.
I hope he's not called up. Would surely mean another 100k to Walsall.
Not crap really - just very injury prone!
With Kane out we will be lacking a target man though as none of the England coaches seem to like Vardy.
Ouch. Wonder where Baz will find the cash?
Yes,I can see this happening.
Really think Troy deserves an opportunity but have very, very little faith in Cockfosters.
Very happy to be proved wrong at approximately 6pm tonight.
Wilson and Deeney should both be in the squad
Agree, i think they'd work well together as well
Indeed he was complimentary about Troy when interviewed after the game
Alan Shearer is also saying that if England have another injury it might be worth giving Troy a chance
Deeney and Vardy would be great for England..... can't see it though sadly
Seeing Deeney get come on for England would be up there with one of my proudest moments as a Watford fan. The guy is a legend in every sense of the word.
The Shearer article is interesting as it talks about him being a leader. It would be interesting to see him in the England team not just for his ability but also because he is a leader, England desperately need that.
The England shirt would only make him look a bit podgy.
Looks like Linegard is going to get the nod. Probably because he's scored 100 goals already this season. Oh and he plays for Utd. Classic.
Southgate is an FA stooge. Don't expect anything other than the usual.
would title winning players with lots of caps really take much notice? i'm not saying they shouldn't, but realistically speaking, who would just accept the leadership of someone completely new to the set up with less medals to bring to the table?
At the end of MOTD they showed a couple of today's back page headlines, and one of them was about Lingard getting called up. Good old FA, plays for Man U so must be great and overlook those who actually deserve a place.
My sources tell me Deeney has not been selected for England.
Yet there are the mugs who will follow them everywhere, sing along with the insipid England 'band' and buy the new shirt.
He would have had a chance I think under Dodgy Sam
No chance under Southgate, the entire squad could get run over by a bus, in fact every English footballer in all 4 divisions over the age of 20 could be run over and Deeney still won't get a call up
Southgate would go with the Manchester u14s
Picking Lingard would be the final nail in the coffin for me. If he played for any other side he'd get nowhere the England side. What a joke.
Who the **** is lingard? Sounds like a type of berry and a Dutch one at that
Has there ever been a more pathetic set of strikers? Where do you want to play? Rooney, who the f is Jesse Lingard, one season wonder Vardy, and last resort Rashford
I hope England get bent over and taken up the chuff
Deeney misses out to Rooney, Lingard and Oxlade Chamberlain
Menahwile Glen Johnson is recalled and Southgate selects 3 central midfielders in the entire squad
I haven't cared about the England team for a long time now and its getting to the stage where I actively want them to fail, the whole set up is just a joke
Glen Johnson..... That sums up the whole England set up and Southgate for me, what an absolute farce our national team has become. Didn't expect Troy to get in as Southgate is a wet flannel. **** it, go and play for Jamaica. Might affect his performances for us for a few games a season but he deserves to look back on his career and say he played international football.
The England team and the FA are a complete embarrassment. I peaked at 15 years of age with Euro 96 and every year since all my enthusiasm for the national team has been slowly beaten out of my by situations like this, Jessie ****ing Lingeard being picked ahead of Troy. I honestly don't give a flying **** about the national team anymore, but one thing I know for sure is that Troy deserves a call up.
Who has replaced Kane in that squad?
Apart from Rashford the striking options are hardly in form...
Also Drinkwater seems to be dumped..
Dier, Henderson and less so Alli are the only centre midfielders in the squad. It's obvious Rooney is going to be given another go wherever the **** you like role and will end up picking the ball up off the defence and overhitting ball after ball to the wide players who don't have a brain between them.
Me too. However we will have to put up with comfortable qualification for the WC, before satisfyingly seeing us humbled by Romania in the first lnockout game.
