On the same day that Capoue replicates his goal against Chelsea, Deeney replicates his goal against Ipswich https://youtu.be/qRyHpazTMGc?t=2m41s
Our fans are a joke...can't even cut Deeney slack...even though he proved him self last season and for all the seasons before!! haha
Really happy both lads up front scored, plus we were able to bring on other decent options for the opposition to worry about later in the game.
Dont be daft, it was just his waistband not giving him any slack. Both he and Iggy have struggled since January. They have had plenty of chances and finally they both had good games today. But, had they not, then they needed to be dropped or substituted occasionally, just like all the other players in the Premier League after a bad run of form. It isn't a big deal. Hopefully, they both have regained a little confidence after today and they can carry on knocking in a few goals.
Deeney has not struggled since January. He was absolutely fantastic in the second half of last season, which is why the champions were bidding £30 million for him.
I've been trying to keep out of the Deeney bashing as I thought it was quite disrespectful to a player that has done so much for the club - but coming back from the break (allegedly) at least a stone over-weight is pathetic in a PL footballer, and whatever he did/didn't do, I trust that he's intelligent enough not make the same mistakes next season. He looked far more on the money today, and far more like the player we were crying out for in the last few games.
Troy Deeney is an England player in the waiting - his season will just get better and better and I predict a call from big Sam before May.
Deeney is our Di Natalie. I could see him staying at the Vic until he retires. He's not really that overweight, His body shape looks odd in lycra. Club Legend.
Deeney was unfit at the start of the season, you could see he was frustrated and he spent most of the time shouting at all his team mates because they hadn't passed the ball directly too him, but instead put it into the space in front of him. Not everybody was suggesting he should be dropped but were entitled to be frustrated about Troy being unfit. We do also have other strikers who could come on as a sub every now and then for either Troy or Iggy, nothing wrong with suggesting that either. Now Troy has had a full two weeks to sharpen up his fitness and get up to speed, and surprise surprise he looked all the better for it and looked back to his normal self. Ridiculous to be saying "I told you so" after a two week international break.
Saw the clip earlier Troy and AJ having a game on the old punch machine Troy nearly beats AJ in the first round but Anthony Joshua hits the machine so hard second time round he breaks it.
I enjoyed it too, even if obviously set up to cover certain topics. Good we have a captain who isn't just bland media-trained safe statements but still manages to be a great ambassador for our club. Has grown into the role as our main man, and glad he's finding some form.
Big Sam was watching.. Deeney certainly earned his 100k a week today.. If he is actually paid that much! http://www.wdsport.co.uk/2016/09/troy-deeney-on-100000-a-week-report-the-sunday-times/
I am happy to praise any player when they put in the effort and act professionally. The team he captained were woeful for the past few months of last season, particularly up front, they were in relegation form. Deeney had no Euros to play in (no excuses) yet came back to work overweight and unfit and we got one point out of nine from the first 3 games and we got knocked out the EFL Cup by Gillingham. Deeney is not worth £20m to £30m because of his technical skills, but because of his physicality, the example he sets and the effort he puts in - and Deeney deserves all the praise he gets in that regard. But for those first four games, he was practically useless. The Club do everything they can, treating the players like kings, to keep the players fit and healthy. He let the club down in my opinion. This is a man that earns 200 times the average wage, and it takes the proceeds from 8,000 seats out of 21,000 every home game, just to pay his wages. You can lick his arse if you want, but I won't be. Great to see him back to near his best and earning his money, though.
