Apparently Troy is a guest on the programme tonight.

Troy's annual media appearance overloads, usually always correlate with a drop in form shortly thereafter.

He'll say something stupid like "Spurs are professional bottlers" and will be sat there watching us in the stands on Wednesday get spanked by Spurs 5-0, with Kane scoring all 5 in the last 10 minutes. After being jeered by the Spurs and MK Dongs faithful for 90 minutes, he will then go on to have an interview saying "You know what, I enjoyed it, I accept the banter, I know that if I give it, I can take it back" without thinking about the consequences of some of the stupid stuff he says - remniscent of Arsenal last season.

No, all part of the Gino game plan.

Suing Vydra for only scoring one vs Sheff Wed, so denying the Hornets the title.

Key witness for the prosecution, Deeney, bigging up the Czech Boy.

He was also on the Premiership show last week on TV talking about his diet. There was (what I presume) old film of him tucking in to what looked like a 4 egg cheese omelette with lashings of baked beans, but now he had a little plastic lunch box with what he called "a naked burger" - I suppose without the bread - and a salad in it. The lady presenter praised him, saying he didn't even have any dressing on it. He spoke, with obvious longing, about how he was banned from eating anything that had any taste to it.

I like Troy and I like how he cuts through a lot of the overthemoon/sickasaparrot nonsense that's usually defines Premiership players press talk. He is genuine and I like genuineness. He won us a lot of good will with his manly and generous response to Fosu-Mensa on Twiiter over that tackle.

He admitted though that he likes to let rip when he's off duty. I don't have a problem with that. I know what it's like when you go to barbecues and such with comrades and think "well I'll only have one quick beer.....". Very difficult indeed.

It seems certain that he's destined for a post-playing career in the media and that will also be good for our lasting exposure - he's always going to be linked with Watford FC. I think he's cut out for that sort of career and will be a million times better, more lucid, more honest and more insightful than 90% of the lame ex-player so-called pundits who are on currently.

However once he doesn't have to worry about his diet any more, they should beware of getting both Troy and Paul Ince on the same programme, unless the floor is suitably reinforced first....

I think I heard him say the players should take turns at whacking Zaha to minimise risking a card.
Sage advice for teams who play Palarse.

Don't forget about Barnes as well. From what I've seen he's not going to be slimmer of the year anytime soon.

You're on to something there. I'd watch that & they could call the show "The Reinforcers"

Only thing is I can't stand Paul Ince's voice or the way he speaks. Sounds like a 7 year old.

Deeney saying his broken toes were caused in ‘light’ Friday training by a tackle from an over-zealous young First-Team player...?

    Wilmot? Quina? Penaranada?!?!

You say that but you have to start by really packing on the lbs to get yourself the best starting point for dramatic weight loss.

Think I have heard him say that about 10 times in the last week and about 1000 times altogether.

    WE GET IT TROY.

  27. If he keeps getting asked all the same questions by journalists who can't be bothered or aren't intelligent to come up with new ones, he's gonna give all the same answers I guess.

He always does it in the same, depreciating, way, whatever the topic. "Troy, do you think that the weather will play into Arsenal's hands on Saturday?"
"Well, I'm a big ugly lad, with no skill but I was raised to fight and I'll fight anyone. I'm so hard I am. Hard as nails."

Thanks Troy, over to you in the studio Gabby.

We've obviously had an increase in press coverage as a club these past weeks but you cant seem to turn on a tv or peruse the internet without seeing our fat headed, shark toothed (his words, not mine) captain.
The cynic in me wonders if his agent has been busy setting up as many media appearances as possible now his stock has risen.. but it's probably just that we have become (temporary) darlings of the media.

I am pleased though.. as Troy is always entertaining.

  34. Burnsy

I would hazard a guess that given the increased media interest the past few weeks, each media outlet has approached the club and probably explicitly stated they want ‘Deeney’. Outspoken, good for a sound bite, captain etc etc. Can’t really blame them on that front - but I did think the more informative of his appearances was on MNF where the questions were more considered. Everything else has just been the same interview, worded in a similar way.

Yes he is good for a soundbite isnt he. I cant think of any other current player, even considering a Watford bias, that i'd rather listen to or one that gives it as straight as our captain.

Most people probably wouldn't have noticed this but Troy even got interviewed by Robbie the other week.. and gave him dietary advice :)
