A very solid window with potential to add in January as well. One cannot underestimate the worth of having a settled squad whose familiarity with each other is a big plus on the playing field. Looks like Chalobah is fitter as well. We have a solid midfield, flair and pace upfront and a solid centre back pairing in the making. Like last season lets also hope that we pick up very few injuries and players like Deulofeu and Pereyra and newcomers Sarr and Welbeck stay fit.

It may not be the height of ambition but another season finishing in the top half of the table with cup runs and the odd memorable victory against the top six will be another successful one for us as a club.

It's been a very good window. Bring another CB next January though

We've added sensibly, however the key for me is that we've managed to keep all of our best players.

Not many were predicting we'd keep Doucoure, Pereyra and Deulofeu. I'm pretty excited about our starting 11 now. However, I'm also excited about the genuine options we've got coming off the bench.

Would have been an A if we'd managed to get Rose...
Would have been A* if we'd added Rose and another CB of quality...

I'm glad to see the club were trying to improve the defence with quality so I can't criticise them for that. I still think we have quality backup all over the pitch but we are an injury away across defence from Masina/Mariappa getting regular games. I don't think we've made the required additions in defence but I know we can't have it all done in one window and we did try.

Sarr is a top quality addition, as is Welbeck. Dawson is solid enough but I have doubts if he's the step up in quality we need - its a 'treading water' kind of signing.

But some clubs around us talked a good game in the window and we looked like getting left behind - thankfully it didn't come to fruition.
Everton ended the window shockingly, even if Kean is a decent recruit.
Palace look woefully short, and with a sulking Zaha eyeing the exit door to boot.

Think it has been a good window. Loads of options up front so I can see us scoring plenty of goals. Equally our defence may struggle. Lots of high scoring games then.

Agreed. With a key shift to fast paced counter attacking where does that leave Troy though.

I think at 5m, Dawson will prove to be the best signing we've made

It's been good because it's now difficult to name our best eleven.
I'm tempted to say we may now move away from 4-4-2 and play more of a 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 depending on the fitness of new recruits Sarr and Welbeck.

Yes but to temper that optimism, Danny Welbeck's whole body appears to be made out of Quavers.

Troy could play as a #10/ false 9 receiving/winning the ball deep and passing it forwards to the speedsters

Yesterday we sign a current England striker and today we sign a player for over £30m. Was it really only 7 years ago we were run by the Red Helmet?

I really can't believe how our fortunes have turned around so much.

On that fateful final day of Bassini's tenure, just before the HMRC winding up order, I sent a wish to the universe asking for Bassini to sell to the Pozzo's......and it came true. I used up my one lifetime wish on that.

So, this is down to me really. I hope you're all enjoying it.

A very solid 8/10. We had people on here complain that the likes of Deeney and Pereyra were far too comfortable, well now surely they can't be resting on their laurels now.

Dawson isn't anything spectacular, but he's solid enough at this level and is a step up on what we had last season. If he and Cathcart stay fit, that'll be a tidy amount of goals saved compared to last year.

Bit of a concern at LB, don't think anyone at the club would be too happy we've been shopping around, Holebas is old, Masina is eh, but I don't think we'll have huge problems there.

Would have liked Gomes to move on upstairs, and bring in someone to challenge Foster, but I guess that's nitpicking.

If we've only gone for one CB, maybe that means we'll be in for Kim in January, perhaps we'll also go in again for Rose, which I'd be delighted with

We’re like Arsenal lite (although to be fair to them they did end up strengthening their back line after all).

Our attack and midfield is now pretty decent and certainly a rival to anyone outside the top 6.

Defence is a weak link but luckily for us that’s the easiest part of the team that can tolerate bad players if it’s well coached.

    I quite like Iwobi, But just consider this;

    Iwobi £38m apparently v Welbeck £nil.

    ...plus wages.

I know which deal I prefer.

Great we’ve kept our big names, and improved key areas. Rose would of been cherry on top but I love the fact we tried. Hope kabasele comes the defender I think he can be and makes it hard for Javi to pick pair of Dawson and Cathcart as speed could be an issue. Going forward Pereyra/Welbeck Deeney Del Boy Sarr what’s not to like about that for tin pot Watford.

Bar one of the CB’s, when our players were all fit last season I felt our starting team was always decent, even against the top 6, and more often than not we matched them, even outplayed them, on many occasions.

But our bench was always full of players who couldn’t change the game, and when one or two were injured the team started to look a little weak.

3 players added that change that (with a bonus 4th in the potential bracket). And all tick our main requirements.

    Great window.

B+ window..... another CB and LB would of made it an A* but I’m being greedy and it was an excellent window in the end

A good window in the end, just a shame we did not get that extra defender in, unless Foulquier is going to be brought into the 25 man squad that is?

Foulquier played a major role in Getafe qualifying for Europe last season. I would actually like to keep him in the side as our back up RB.

It was a very good window in the end. Only thing missing for me was another CB. Think we will be back in for Rose in january. He clearly wanted the move so will be interesting to see if we follow this up.

Biggest thing now is having an injury free season as much as possible.

Id have rather pissed off palace or everton to a greater extent. Like Zaha leaving and us then gazumping palaces attempt to replace him with Sarr. Or Everton bidding silly money for Doucoure and not getting him.

The only point of this window I am not happy with is Welbecks fitness levels and injury prone-ness. And that he's never scored more than 9 in one season. But when our front 3 or 4 is from DW, GD, TD, AG, IS or RP all is good.

FYI, IS is not Isaac BTW.

If Welbeck's contract is what was mentioned on here yesterday, a base rate and a playing rate, then that's probably not too bad a deal.

  32. I think this is where top managers come into their own.

Managing a lot of players who are now going to have to be coming off the bench or maybe not at all.

It's going to annoy some players so the manager has to keep those content as well as keep the team drilled.

Will be interesting to see how Gracia keeps everyone happy and up for it.

Excellent window. Gino knows how to play the game. Never in a million years would I believe of a squad like this. Plus an influx to the U23. It really is a bright future.

Thanks to this window, what I'm really looking forward to is we now have pace and movement up front.

If you think about Delofeu, Sarr and Welbeck (when he's match fit) the fluidity is something to get excited about. I know Gray has detractors and limitations, however he does a sh!t load of running off the ball and works hard to try and create space for others.

Hughes and Perrerya are very mobile (if somewhat lightweight).

I would have loved to have landed Rose. I like Holebas going forward, however he tends to give wingers the freedom of Watford - Mahrez for one, I don't think he's ever stopped one of his crosses.

So, on that basis had we signed Rose it would have been an A.

    So I'm going to award a B+

He played all across their back four but spent a lot of last season playing on the right of midfield. He could be a more defensive option in Javi's 4-4-2 away to the bigger teams.
