Transfer Window 2019 - Good Or Bad ?

Like we didn't need another deadline day thread.

 

Bad.

Sign Sarr or equivalent and a young, big, fast centre half with prospects and it will become ok.

 

Where ? I can only see the **** one at the top.

 

Best transfer window ever. Kept all main players and saw a forum wide meltdown. Good stuff.

 

Absolutely terrible. Obviously.

 

At the moment, bad really.

 

Before the window my priorities would have been:

1. Keep all our key players. I'm weighting this as it was the most important objective.
2. 2 decent CBs.
3. An AM to compete with Hughes.
4. A complete striker who can play the loan role in a 433 or 4231.

Assuming there is no more business today.... I'd say 7/10

 

The next 3 hours will dictate if it has been ***** or very good. Currently, it has been *****

 

I've voted mediocre, however it's probably somewhere between that and good, as I do think we have strengthened in a couple of positions, but I think we probably should have brought in one or two more players to strengthen even more.

 

Average in my opinion ,we will score enough to stay up but our back line is poor in my opinion .15th this season

 

Regardless of any more deals, as I don't expect much too happen now, I would say the two main signings we've made have been superb additions. Actually I'm still pinching myself we got Welbeck. I would go as far to say, he's probably the biggest profile signing we've ever made as a club.

We've shipped in a load of youngsters too, including the highly rated Dele-Bashiru.

I understand fans being disappointed when we're led to believe we're going to make a record signing, but you have to consider we've not let any of our key players go, and added two quality players to the first team.

We have improved overall. Is it enough? Well I think we do need to strengthen more, and there is a question mark over Welbeck's fitness. But if, big IF, we get him fit, he's going to be one hell of a player for us.

Do we have enough to stay clear of relegation now? Absolutely. Do we have enough to push for 7th? No. Do we have enough to push for a top 10? Unlikely, but not totally out of the question.

 

It's been fine. Modern fans are more self entitled and seem to like a load of new signings every summer. Last season was incredibly successful and we have kept that entire squad together and added two very good signings.

People will always be upset that we haven't (as yet) added a fancy sounding European winger nobody had heard of 6 weeks ago.

If there is any criticism of this window it would be that we haven't been able to move on some of the players that bloat our squad that aren't good enough to fight for a place; Prodl, Success etc.

 

The club claim they want to be the best of the rest so, cannot blame fans for being slightly underwhelmed

 

They will probably go to Europe after the English deadline passes once we can assess who we have brought in and can afford to move on.

 

It's not the club's fault if you believe their nonsense.

 

I would tend to agree with this. Not losing key players and 2 CBs and a striker was what we required from this window in my opinion. That's been almost achieved but we have to be wary that windows remain open in Europe.

 

Decent window. Keep everyone and bring in 2 home grown first teamers.

However it really does reinforce how potless we are as a club though compared to nearly every other rival. We’ve done well to get anyone given how little funding we have and how bonkers the transfer market is.

10/10 really now. Yes the defence isn't great but you can't really expect to pick up more than 3 first teamers and retain all your best players in this competitive market.

 

Yes. We've spent quite big - bigger still if Rose comes - and there may be a nasty surprise if Gino needs to recoup before the Euro window closes.

Ideally some of those surplus to requirements will cross the Channel for a few quid.

 

If we end up with:

Rose
Sarr
Dawson
Welbeck

that's 4 first choice players, right there, who improve the first 11.

that also means that our current options in those areas become good bench options.

That means this has gone from dismal to exceptional in a couple of hours.

IF we fail to get Rose, then Nath has been proven correct, once again, and we're ****ed. There is no middle ground.
