I suspect he’ll go to a top division elsewhere in Europe (rumours of a return to Galatasaray or Benfica on loan) - but if we could be persuasive, how about Jean-Michael Seri from Fulham on loan? Very highly rated before joining them but hasn’t worked for whatever reason. Isn’t part of their PL squad and wouldn’t be required to move house/country. Long shot but would be a good Capoue replacement, if only short term in the immediacy.
Pete O'Rourke @SportsPeteO Swansea City are lining up a move to sign Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane. #avfc #SwanseaCity
Just an observation but as at the last accounts (June 19 so pre Sarr/Lukbakio) the Pozzo's had £4m loaned to the club whilst third party debt and outstanding transfer fees were c £140m. Given that the third party debt provider (£85m then) is winding down their whole operation -so seeking their money back -they might be directing Gino as to what he can spend or what price a player goes for. Nothing to back this up but a thought.
I liked the one he structured where he had to cough up to buy Zuniga even after Napoli had sold him to someone else. Right out of the Harvard playbook.
I prefer the one where he sent over a shady middle-man to have his photo taken with Pape Gueye in someone’s kitchen, whilst signing a contract that clearly wasn’t worth the paper it was written on. I imagine that’s the type of thing he picked up doing his masters.
The fact that we've still heard literally nothing about Gueye 6 months on, other than Leventhal making some spurious allusion to it being 'ongoing' in trying to come to some sort of arrangement, is both laughable and, to me at least, seems like a very bad reflection on the legitimacy of our own position in that deal. The fact that we announced the signing of a player we didn't own would be the height of cringe for a great many clubs; for us, you have to be reminded of it to even include it on the list.
Wondering if Dyche would swap Vydra for Deeney or Gray for the rest of the season if we agreed to pay their wages and Burnley covered Vydra's?
Vydra seems to get a bit of game time at least now. He doesn’t like Gray and they have a better younger version of Deeney .
Couple of Brazilian journalists linking us with Soteldo at Santos FC. Can’t imagine this being true. One because he’s a left winger, secondly he’s a Venezuelan and we don’t do well with promising left wingers from Venezuela. Thirdly because they state that Mourinho has given the green light to sign him for Spurs and Atalanta are also linked with him. Hence why I’m not creating a thread for this nonsense.
Isn't he the one that's five foot nothing? If I remember correctly we have been linked to him before.
Played in the SF of that U21 tournament a few years back with Penaranda. To me he was the standout talent when I watched him. Thought he was more of a CM tbh. Sent from my Nokia 7 plus using Tapatalk
Was he the one who came on late Vs England? Soon as he did they were the better side and everything went through him!
Yeah supposedly he'd cost 15m Euros. No way that's happening. Wouldn't be surprised if we've watched him a few times given our presence in South America, maybe even as a potential target should we somehow go up.
Pete O'Rourke @SportsPeteO Burnley are ready to offer striker Matej Vydra in a part-exchange in any deal for Bournemouth striker Josh King. #afcb #BurnleyFC #twitterclarets
King has mentioned on many occasions in the Norwegian press that he's in no rush to sign for a club in January. It sounds nailed on he will wait out until Summer. But it would be a dagger to the heart seeing Otter in a muff shirt.
Well Vydra wants to leave and only has 18 months left on his contract. King is considered a better player, particularly at Premier League level, and would likely join someone else in the summer. Their valuations on the open market are probably pretty similar.
Well funnily enough the 120k has been mentioned in the press. That's what he wants if he supposedly leaves Muff. So adds up really and we know muff had to give huge wages to get their players.
That’s ignoring the fact that in 6 months, King can get a fat signing-on fee or bigger wages because there’s no transfer fee - he won’t be getting that from Burnley. The finances don’t stack up on this being a sensible deal for Burnley or the player.
I agree with all of that. I don’t see what’s in it for King and think his wage expectations are far beyond Burnley’s wage structure. But if Burnley somehow were able to get him just by shipping Vydra off to Bournemouth, that would be a good deal (even though King is a bit overrated, a bit of bad egg and a bit old for a three or four year contract).
Isn't each place in the PL worth a million pounds or so? For Burnley, they would get a march on a player that will have a lot more competition in the summer, and wouldn't have to pay the wages of a player they don't want. I'm not sure the difference would be all that great. As you say though, the main reason he probably won't move now is because the player and his agent can negotiate a much bigger pay package by waiting. Unless Burnley offer a very significant wage offer right now that is too good to turn down (doesn't seem likely looking at their finances).
Burnley have new American owners now - so may have a bit of £££ to spend. Maybe the new owners want to make a statement to the fans with a signing or 2 ...... bringing in King on possibly double the next best paid player could backfire though in such a tight squad
If I understand it correctly, and who has any idea whether I do, it's more of a Glazer-style arrangement and the yanks have borrowed against the value of the club to purchase it, rather than properly coming in with their own money. I'm not sure we're about to see Burnley become the latest billionaire's plaything in the Premier League.
