    Giroud? Giroud?

More likely to sign Pugh & Pugh, then we could go in for Barney McGrew, Cuthburt, Dibble & Grub.

Juan Foyth. Frozen out at Tottenham by Mourinho.

Great on the ball although prone to the odd error. Needs first team football in order to make the CA squad for Argentina. Knows Pereyra. Can play right back but his position I would play him is defensive midfield. More than adept at replacing Doucoure who is not playing well at all and can be a centreback as well. Fearless attitude and bags of ability.

Giroud, sign him and he will score LOADS of goals.

Decent shout for a loan deal that, though I reckon we'd have greater need for him at rb.

I'd have Shane Duffy from Brighton, can't seem to get in their team under the new coach despite being player of the year last season, although i doubt they'd sell to a 'relegation rival'.

Not the quickest but makes up for it with commitment and ariel ability. But agree that they wouldn't want to do business with a relegation rival.

This ‘not selling to a rival’ is nonsense. It’s always happened. When it does the selling club just charges a premium, then they can improve their squad with the extra dosh.

Fine. We would like a detailed list of whom, clubs, costs and year.

Not a bad shout, though if we were sensible we'd have signed the player they've replaced him with (Webster), to begin with.

What about Mitrovic from Fulham? In great form this year but would probably cost us a fair few quid, still scored 11 goals last season in a poor Fulham team.

Why on Earth would you leave a team looking to get back in to the Prem for a team looking to get relegated? He went down last year, no point derailing your whole career for five months in the Prem.

Yes he could keep us up and be a hero but is it worth the risk for him? Not if I was his advisor.

Yeah I was thinking that too, but we've seen stranger moves, the old adage.. money talks! We need to splash the cash on reinforcements either way to have any chance.

I don't want anyone to come for the money, it's conducive to bad performances.

A recent example of our own is Richarlison. Many fans didn’t want to see him leave so soon and play against us for a rival team but at the same time were surprised by the size of the fee, which was greater than it would have been if we had sold him to a foreign club.
Going way back I can remember when Spurs signed Martin Peters from West Ham. At the time the standard fee, even for a forward, was around £100,000 and the record was £165,000. But Spurs had to pay £200,000: double the norm and 21% more than the record.

OK understand that but I believe the thinking was more on relegation rivals.

The time to go after him was in the summer when we’d been in a Cup Final and Fulham had gone down.
He signed a new deal. He’ll be going nowhere.

He’s just had a fairly nasty injury, hence being out of the team. Webster did well in his place so kept it. I don’t think Duffy is being frozen out by any stretch. They won’t want to sell. And nor should they.

No chance he’s being allowed to leave Spurs. Mourinho’s actual word was he could ‘kill that particular transfer story dead’ and ‘zero chance’.

  20. lowerrous

Yeah Mourinho coming in and taking a fondness for him has clearly scuppered that possibility.

We should go after Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Heard he would be interested.

He's currently eyeing up property on the Meriden so I'd say it's in the bag.

Pontus Dahlberg hasn’t looked back since joining us. Sure he’d be more than willing to put a word in.

Kacaniklic has a place he’s still renting in Bushey. Has told Zlatan he can move straight in, with one request he’s to arrange the flat pack furniture as he never had time when he was there.

Zlatan is a wizard with an Allen key, I hear.

Maupay just put another the back of the net from 10 yards. What I’d give for a striker who does that regularly.

Some on here claimed Brighton did poor business! Maupay, Trossard, Webster and Mooy have had great seasons so far!

Maupay is just the sort of player we should have gone for in the summer and still need now.

When we signed Gray on paper you’d of said he’s better than Maupay. Had scored goals in premier league as Maupay was unproven at this level. I know it’s a couple of seasons difference but I can see why the club wouldn’t take the gamble. Webster on the other hand would of been a better gamble than Dawson

I don’t understand the logic. Gray a more understandable signing at £18m than Maupay at £20m because Gray had played in the PL.

But Webster a gamble worth taking for £20m over Dawson for £5m when Dawson has played in the PL and Webster hadn’t?!

    Shocking comparisons.
Anybody who thought Gray was a good signing back then has no understanding of football whatsoever. Not once has he looked like a footballer capable of scoring goals. He has never offered anything to this team. Is beyond who he's scored any goals at all.
Dawson is a very good signing. His problem was that he had to do his defending and Kiko's too. Dawson was just settling in and becoming our best defender before his abuse by the Burnley forwards.

Back when we signed Gray I was optimistic as the little I saw of him was highlights of him scoring and rumours linking him with massive clubs such as Everton, I thought his speed would link well with Troy. Gray is ***** but we’ve rarely played him to his strengths. (Can’t remember what they are)

To be fair to Gray, yes he was £18m - but he has scored some goals that gave fans a lot of joy last season. Everton? Palace 1/4 final? And the assist for Deulofeu’s winner at Wembley.

Easy to forget in amongst the dross mis-hits etc and his L*ton past. But I think some go overboard in their criticism and act as if he’s done absolutely nothing for us.
