Gino Peruzzi is absolute class. Completely marked Neymar out when Velez played Santos in last years Libertadores. Very mature for his age just 20 , good passer and reads the play well. Already called up to the Argentina squad by Sabella as well and has already played in the domestic Argentina side.

    Yuss please.

Not sure why I thought it was Kalas, could've sworn I say his name pop up somewhere apart from here, but after googling him it turns out he is on loan at Vitesse for the whole season anyway

    Updates:
Udinese usually is not much active during January window but this year is different, although in "adjustments". Several players unused going away, and lots of rumours about countless promising Southamerican young players linked to us.
    So far:
Official - Floro Flores to Genoa for 50% of Merkel (already in Udinese team) and Alhassan (staying on loan at Novara until summer).
Official - Armero to Napoli (4M€ for immediate loan and 50% property in summer).
Sure: Barreto to Torino (1.8M€ for 50%).
Sure: Willians back to Brazil, on loan to Internacional Porto Alegre with option for buying in summer.

All very good! These were all players who were not used and sometimes seemed troublesome, while Merkel seems a very good promise and a serious person.

Regarding Junior Malanda: it seems there's competition with Bruges and Fulham (who offered 5M€ it seems: too much!). I'm convinced he's searched by Udinese for WFC, as the player said he wants to play in England and WFC might just need one like him. Looks like in the weekend decision could be made.
Maybe Udinese still have chances even with the high bid by Fulham, if they convince the player that WFC would be the best team for him to grow as a player and maybe they could arrange with Zulte-Waregem something like "we don't offer you now as much money as Fulham, but when we sell him in future you'll have a share, and you know we're good in selling for good price after caring for the growth of a player". ;)

Thanks for the update Sherlock. Interesting to see whether they do sign players with Udinese and send them our way in this window.

    It's probably just my imagination!
But when I read Udinese is interested in a young promising player, tall and strong, who can play either as defensive midfielder or as CB, and who would like to play in England.
Udinese currently is OK in defence so here he would stay on bench, while he looks like a player WFC could certainly use ... I cannot help thinking that's for WFC.
I hope this will go the right way!

Sherlock - any insight from Italy about the rumours that Vydra is heading to Cardiff?

  8. sherlock

Absolutely not. Believable like Udinese selling both Di Natale and Muriel in January, I'd say. That is 0%. ;)

I could see Muriel and Di Natale being very impressed by Malky. Keep an eye on them.

TalkSport reporting that Udinese are sending out Fabbrini on loan, any remote chance of being sent to us?

Yeah I meant surely not as in surely he's not actually coming here. Poorly written, have edited. It'd be incredible if he came here, unlikely though.

Apparently Newcastle have been interested in him for a while and would make sense seeing as they only have one decent striker atm. Not sure who he would replace in the team as we already have 4 good strikers fighting for a 1st team place.

Personally think that if Fabbrini does go out on loan, it'll be to another Serie A club. Like Udine have done sending Cuadrado to Fiorentina.

  14. THT81

He's more of an advanced playmaker/ shadow striker really, but know where you're coming from. Granada lack playmakers and usually play 4-4-1-1, so he could be a nice fit there.

  15. sherlock

    sherlock Tippytappy footy expert

It's true he's willing to go in order to play more. Now that Muriel is out of injury, he risks to mostly stay on bench.
Pozzo basically appears to have said ok but only on loan, as Fabbrini is considered a good player and an asset for the future.
But I agree with last two posts.
If he goes on loan he probably would prefer to stay in Italy (to avoid being "forgotten" from national team convocations) and can easily find space in several serie A teams. If he goes on loan within Pozzo's trinity, he maybe more useful and needed at Granada, rather going to WFC which is quite ok with forward players and has Forestieri with very similar role.

I might see him going, e.g., to Pescara. Low in table, needing reinforcements, with several good young players (one is Quintero) so that Pozzo might find useful to keep good relations with them, a free loan now as a token of friendship hoping in priority to us for future transfers.

LOL, if all players on loan play "friendly" like yesterday ...
Lazzari (on loan to Udinese from Fiorentina) gave the perfect assist to Di Natale for second goal.
Cuadrado (on loan to Fiorentina from Udinese) destroyed a finger to our GK Brkic (fracture+dislocation for index finger).

With our luck, the day we'll meet the team with Fabbrini on loan, he'll remember that a forward may also score sometimes and he'll do a hat-trick!

Hi Sherlock. I'm new on here and just having a read through this thread - you do a great job in keeping us updated!

Quick question about the buying '50%' in Italy. How exactly does this work and what team do they play for? Could you theoretically sign a player for the long term by just buying 50% of him?

  19. sherlock

    sherlock Tippytappy footy expert

Hi. Nice question, I had to check how it works exactly.
In Italy one team can buy just 50% of the "property of the contract" of a player, with possible option for setting already the price for the following full transfer at end of season.
In the agreement they will say which team the player will play for during the season.
This whatever the lenght of the player contract is.
At the end of season the "shared property" may be renewed for another season, or solved with one of the teams buying full ownership of the contract.
If the two teams cannot find an agreement on the price, then they must solve with a "sealed envelope" bid for the full property.

Hello, today local newspaper of Udine reports that Udinese will get the 20 years old colombian forwarder Bryan Perea of Deportivo Calì, and he will be loaned to watford next season, also for not occupy immediatly in udine a not-comunitarian spot. The newspaper says that he is the new young promise of Colombia, but i honestly never seen the boy play. The news says also that in case that watford will not reach the permier league this year, Matej VYdra will probably come back to Udinese for next season, but of course notihing official has been said by the team. Tought that you could be maybe interested in this.

Thanks for posting that, always nice to get your local reports!

I'd absolutely hate Vydra to go, though. He'll be able to get us to the Premier League, either this season or next season.

Wasn't there a team last summer who messed up the sealed envelope bid and ended up loosing a player to the other 'shareholder' in Serie B who had purposeful bid low as they couldn't afford him? Sure it was somone like Bologna and they had actually put the decimal point in the wrong place?

  27. sherlock

    sherlock Tippytappy footy expert

Yes I think it was Bologna. They wanted to keep their GK Viviano but had wrote their bid of 4.7M€ in the part where the "total" value of player should have been, so their true offer was 2.35M and Inter had the full property with its bid of 4.1M.

Out of curiosity, as there as many rumours about some of our Southamericans going on loan, due to the limit to extra-EU players: what are the rules about this in FA?
Surely you too have some limits, is it? Or there's only the rule about the 6 home-grown in the 18 team?

Currently only Buaben with you without an EU passport according to the flags I see on http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/watford-fc/startseite/verein_1010.html

  29. No, there are no limits to the number of non EU players. However there are some fairly strict rules....

Young players who represent their country at junior levels generally are usually considered suitable calibre.

    I'm sorry Smudger! ;)
The point is Argentinians and Brazilians often have very inflated prices (just like young Italian and English players who show any good). The scouting network is usually much more active in "minor footballing" South-American and European nations.

I was only kidding amico. You're very correct. Those leagues are watched by the so called bigger clubs like hawks. Costa Rica and Honduras should be places to keep an eye out for for the Udinese scouts. :)

I remember watching the milk cup final in 2011 and in the elite section this team called Aspire demolished Manchester United's youth team (under 19s). They were from Qatar but the commentator mentioned that most of the best players in Africa (places like Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal, etc) get taken to Qatar and signed up to academies over there, wonder if the pozzos have scouts watching those games. If you have a few minutes you can watch the highlights here:

He was brought up in the Netherlands as a kid ans holds a Dutch passport when it comes to football. He would never have got a work permit otherwise to play in the UK as he would not be classified as an exceptional talent (it's how Man Utd got their South American players) or have played in the necessary international games in the last 2 years (was 75%).

Carlos Aranda (32 years) signed for 1 and half season. 500.000€. Second player signed after Recio on loan (as a B team player).

Nolito (Benfica) is near and maybe Moises Hurtado or Orellana will leave the team.
