I wish Watford would be honest with us and stop using the word "fit" when they clearly mean "temporarily uninjured"
Let's start a sweepstake on how long he lasts before getting injured again - I'm going for 22 minutes.
Once again we're hoping there are three teams in PL even more crap than we are. Sooner or later there won't be.
Even though I know (like 95% sure) that we're getting beat by 3+ goals, part of me is still weirdly optimistic.
Incidentally, Watford are the only team outside the top six never to have been in the bottom three this season.
These are the rules for tied teams in prem "If at the end of the season either the league champions or the clubs to be relegated or the question of qualification for other competitions cannot be determined because two or more clubs are equal on points, goal difference and goals scored, the clubs concerned shall play off one or more deciding league matches on neutral grounds, the format, timing and venue of which shall be determined by the board." This means there could be a play off with Bournemouth for the Intertoto cup
An early Spurs goal will set the tone for a 4-0 loss. I don’t go for this ‘ we are looking forward to playing Spurs, we will put in a good performance and then it all goes to pot in the 5th minute. No faith in them getting their arse in gear tonight.
This is true, and an annoying shame after the dizzying heights of the first quarter of the season, but there are quite a few other teams hoping the exact same thing; almost half the division, and with several of them having to hope rather harder than us as it stands.
In a word No. It'll be some game though regardless of whats at stake, just hope were not going to be in one this season
Was there an early ko in the first week? I vaguely recall there was. Marco dragged us out of the mire! Time for a reappraisal of the Silva Era?
Our longest ever run of games without an away goal currently stands at 9 matches. This was actually spread out over two seasons, the end of 71-72 and the start of 72-73. The longest run within one season was 8 matches back in 1923-24. We can equal that record tonight, although our current run does include a cup match as well as league. A blank tonight would be Gracia’s 7th away match without a solitary goal, with his last away game of the season coming against the team with the league’s tightest defence. (Silva’s last match in charge for us started this miserable sequence) Still who am I to question his appointment eh?!
#watfordfc XI v @SpursOfficial | Karnezis (GK); Mariappa (C), Cathcart, Kabasele, Holebas; Doucouré, Capoue; Femenía, Hughes, Richarlison; Gray. Subs | Gomes (GK), Britos, Janmaat, Carrillo, Deulofeu, Sinclair, Deeney.
Decent line up. We now have three pacy players around Hughes and for the first time in a long time, an opposition might have to worry about a forward running in behind them on the break. Best Gracia could've done given the injuries and our squad. COYH!!
BBC with some cracking standards of journalism on their live text: Gerard Deulofeu is absent following a 'throat infection'. To be fair maybe he had one recently, but two months out with a throat infection is really something. Our run in is very tough, going away to Manchester united followed by a home game against Newcastle on the last day of the season... Watford are also 13th, 7 points clear of relegation. We all know we are actually 12th, and are just 6 points clear of Southampton
Intrigued that Mariappa is in before Janmaat again. Janmaat has made 48 appearances for WFC, I wonder if Newcastle are owed money on his 50th game? No more games before he's off-loaded maybe.
Gonna throw out my prediction now. 6-0. But I do agree that’s probably as good as Gracia could name if Deulofeu isn’t 100%.
