That's the haters on this forum that gives that opinion. And clouded brains on this forum that think he can never score a good goal. Everyone else would likely say it was a cracking finish.

Well I don’t hate him. I don’t think he’s great but not as bad as some make out.

But it’s still my impression of the goal.

Did anyone mention Pereyra's goal against Leicester? I was at the game, flew out to Thailand the next day and the bars in Bangkok were showing it almost on a loop the next day. Surreal experience.

Agreed. If that ball from Deeney was played by Deulofeu, Pereyra, Pedro etc. then people would be wetting themselves about it.

Watching the 2012/13 season review on the club's YouTube, we scored some absolute beauties that season. Battocchio at home to Huddersfield, Vydra at Palace on the opening day and of course Chalobah's rocket at Leicester. Never have I seen a football hit harder than that.

But as someone else said, Vydra at Brighton was something else. Deeney played the ball through from our own half, with Vydra being only a few yards in front of Troy, still in our own half. The defender had about a 5-second head start, but the pace of Vydra was unbelievable. Within seconds he was in front of the defender and was clear through on goal, it amazed me how quick he was. From that point, there was only one outcome- still the best one on one finisher I've ever seen.

Deeney has made many super passes like that over the years, linking with his strike partner - especially Vydra. It’s an underrated part of his game.
