The bit that worries me from the club's statement is that "he needs works...." which translates as "we will now start to mis-coach every single bit of quality out of him."
Mangling youth prospects so they all end up at Conference South level by the time we're done with them takes hard work and time. I'm sure he'll be ready for his move to Slough Town in 22/23.
Only a year younger than JP, get him and Hungbo on the pitch, they can't be worse than the two misfiring wrecks we currently have up front.
If he was already anywhere near good enough then surely the club would have given him a contract sooner, so he could have been on the bench for our two most recent games instead of the unused Dalby?
Give Dalby a go as well then, try something, anything different, even if they don't score, it will be no different to Deeney and Gray who also don't score.
Dalby was on the bench in our last two games - but wasn't brought on even when we needed a goal and our forwards were tired. I did want to see him get a run out vs Utd though.
The issue with starting with Dalby would mean dropping a div 1 standard striker and replacing him with a div 2 standard striker. Our reserve strikers are even poorer than our starters.
No one can be worse than what we have starting at the moment. They may be slightly better in terms of ability - but their form drops them to the bottom of the pile for me now. I’d go with Joao Pedro and play Zinckernagel off to the right of him...with Sarr and Sema out wide.
I suppose the only benefit might be having a striker who is actually motivated to play, and perhaps that motivation alone would be enough to bridge the gap in actual talent. If nothing else, I’m confident he’d run around, which alone is an improvement on what we’ve been rolling out in recent weeks. I’d throw JP up top, with Sarr and Zinc either side. At least we’d have some pace and movement to trouble the opposition.
I think that's our best team, with Hughes and (somebody) next to him. Whether we'll actually see what I think is our strongest team all season is debatable...
