Motorway drivers going a variable speed for no reason.

I stick cruise control on at x mph. come up behind someone doing x - 3 mph. I move into the next lane and they speed up a touch, meaning I either sit next to them blocking the right hand lane or slow down or speed up.

In 4 minutes I'd overtaken and been overtaken by the same car 4 times without changing my speed.

I think it’s very difficult to use cruise control successfully in this country - except possibly in the dead of night - due to the traffic levels on all major roads and the behaviour of drivers as you describe.

Agreed. It's good for roadworks sections at 50 but that;s about it.
The next meistermobile I might spec up active cruise control, but then again I'm considering electric so it actually might just drive itself.

Yes. Never use it. The only time the roads are clear enough to benefit from it, is late at night when you are just about ready to drop off to sleep at the wheel.....

Strange that you had time to think to press "post reply" but not to finish the sentence before piling into the back of that coach ???

    Ageing.

Despite the fact that I have a finely tuned athletic and much admired frame, I hate the fact that I can now "sleep funny" which then means the next morning my shoulder is screwed up and every time I sneeze, cough, turn slightly or sometimes occasionally just sit still, I get a shooting pain up by back and it''ll take a fortnight for this to go away.

  10. The undeniable truth

The undeniable truth First Team Captain

Agreed but it's better than the alternative.
I hurt my disc a month ago and am still having physio to release the last bit of spasm. Back pain is horrible and the only downside of my god-like 6ft 3in 13 stone frame....

    Naga Munchetty.

Just dreadful. If she's not deliberately throwing a curve ball to try to appear funny eg "Over to John for the weather, John, if you were a type of cake, what type of cake would you be ?", she's just talking without engaging her brain.
Today , a nice little article about a Koala that was saved from the Aussie fires. Let's call him Eric. So Naga ends the article with ".....well best of luck to Eric, and to all the other Koalas that were killed in the fires"....

I've done the M1 northbound (Snorbens or Woffad) to Markyate a 'few' times this past fortnight. I'm always amazed that I'll be travelling at 63 mph (because of congestion) on the carriage way, the 1st overtaking lane traffic will also be at 63 mph, the 2nd overtaking lane traffic will be at 61mph and the 3rd overtaking lane traffic at 62 mph...

I thought the motorway cameras were installed to punish dangerous driving?

Motorway cameras were installed to generate revenue.

There are only a couple of countries in the world which have less fatalities per 100,000 head.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-related_death_rate
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_vehicles_per_capita

Monaco is safest - Not surprising because the average speed is likely about 12mph at 0 (899 cars per 100 people 2nd highest in the world)
Federated states of Micronesia 1.9 (37 cars per 1000 people)
    Norway 2.7 (514 cars per 1000)
    Switzerland 2.7 (716 cars per 1000)
    Sweden 2.8 (479 cars per 1000)
    Kiribati 2.9 (146 cars per 1000)
And then the UK at 3.1 (471 cars per 1000)

Interestingly San Marino has 1263 cars per 1000 people

Saw that this morning, she had absolutely no interest or care about reporting about the actual fires going on, just sitting on her sofa going on about how cute the rescue dog was with person she was interviewing. Complete idiot.

Can't bear her. Giggly mumsey Louise isn't far behind. I'd shoot smug over-confident Dan too. Charlie is great, the rest are ok.

I've always thought BBC Breakfast tries to maintain a strange and uncomfortable balance between serious news coverage and cuddly, fluffy stuff while other channels just go all-out fluffy or sensational. It also makes me smile when something 'important' happens the BBC make the presenters go and stand out in the cold for no apparent reason.

Worst & most annoying presenter award goes to Tom Bradbury at ITV. Like watching a car crash every time. Suspect the guy took too much drugs when he was younger.

    Peston a very close seccccooooonnnnd.

Someone said something like "how many socks did the royal family get through last year" and someone guessed 357 or something. Forget the detail but understand my despair in trying to explain why it would be an even number, not an odd number.

I said that in the most annoying political commentator thread (or something like that). He takes about five minutes on each sentence, trying to stretch out his air time, with his stupid scarves and floppy hair.

I think he got his big break when he sniffed something wrong at Northern Rock during the financial crisis. He broadcast his big "scoop" causing a run on the bank that ultimately destroyed it.

People who put personal errands in their outlook diaries - why do you need to have what you're doing that evening blocked out in your diary? I get it if it's a work event but when it's 'Cinema' or 'Dinner Reservation' I don't get it.

I can answer that. Most appointments in life relate to work (meetings, seminars etc.) so it’s not worth running a second diary for personal stuff (doctor/dentist appointments, meeting friends etc.). The reminders for both therefore pop up in the same place. People should set the personal ones as ‘private’ however.

I understand people are of differing opinions, everyone is perfectly entitled to an opinion and it may not agree with your opinion but that's the whole point. What triggers me is the people who are Labour for example, and try to shove their utter hatred for the Conservatives down your throat at every given opportunity. If you're trying to convince people to support the party you like, you're going the wrong way about it. Tell them to read the manifestos and make up their own minds, rather than posting things that say how much you hate the leader of the rival party.

The amount of people I've had to mute or even unfriend/unfollow until this is over is getting stupid

Anything regarding politics or opinions on anything remotely serious I just keep to myself now, it’s just not worth the hassle. Especially when the immediate response is a half remembered article or statistic from the internet that proves you were definitely wrong and you don’t know what you’re on about.

Had some telling me that they didnt trust Corbyn and that Johnson was the man for them. If theres anything good about Johnson its not his truatworthyness.
