Well that is how relegation works. Unfortunately it's not just Villa we have to stay above.

We seem to play better against teams that come at us rather than defensive teams that hit us on the break.

Probably massive straw clutching, but maybe a more confident Leicester will work in our favour?

The first goal will be all important really, as if Leicester get it they can then happily get a couple more goals on the counter while we have to press more.

Correct. I was simply observing that Villa were terrible, particularly in defence, and we should really be discounting them in the race to stay up.

It seems to be a really 'odd' deal as Ashley is 'lending' the buyers £150M (the amount the club owe him)...

There were also lots of unfair and probably untrue rumours before Xmas that Ashley was having VAT issues with the EU...

Some of the folk on Tyneside are none too happy about having possible Saudi investment.

    And this week Moise Kean:

"Everton chiefs are furious with big-money signing Moise Kean, after breaking strict coronavirus lockdown rules by hosting a house party.

The club have declared themselves "appalled" with his "unacceptable actions".

The Italy international, who joined the Toffees from Juventus last summer, filmed himself partying at his Cheshire apartment.

Kean, 20, sent video clips to a private Snapchat group, with the footage showing female guests giving lap dances and other suggestive acts.

The caption on one picture was labelled ‘quarantine clean’."

He appears to have been yet another big money flop signing by Everton.

I think by the tone of that statement they aren't very impressed with him generally !

Compare that to the minor ticking off some players have got .

Did you not see when Duncan Ferguson subbed him off after he'd only just been subbed on 18 minutes earlier?!

TBF there are much 'better' owners who use the most 'colourful' business activities:

Morality and football don't mix really well. Given the business procedures many footballers and clubs use. The way fans are treated. What many owners have done in order to get their wealth.

But who cares so long as you have a flashy stadium, the owners renovate a little bit of the land about the place, players earning more in a month than most do in a decade and the chance of some silverware.

Newcastle fans for the most part don't care one iota. The fact they were criticizing Abu Dhabi United over the fact after beating them 1-0 earlier in the season seems lost on most of the Saudi Investment Fund loving sheeple now. Not a hint of irony. Or indeed those criticizing the possible takeover. The wonderful Qatar PIF threatening not to show any PL matches on their BeIN platform and moaning about pirate streams in Saudi Arabia. This remember is the nation that was handed a World Cup via backhanders, has an appalling record in the treatment of migrant workers and where flogging and stoning are legal.

Sad to see what football has become and has been perhaps throughout it's existence a means to a political end.

And to add that it does affect us as well. Another club with huge funds means that in time the Magpies will not be perennial relegation candidates but looking at the other end of the table.

Yeah, it does feel like this season is a bit of a death knell to the game. What we all suspected/knew is in the wide open now.

I have no love for the Geordies - neither their ****** city nor their ****** team *BUT* there's always been a lot of disquiet over Ashley. Tyneside has some of the most deprived areas of the country in its boundaries (I used to occasionally work in Naujoji Vilnia which was little more than a dumping ground for the mentally ill and chronic substance abusers - I wasn't really that bothered by what I saw as I used to live in close proximity to Meadow Well which is the real-life 'home' of Octavius Ace) - there were always complaints from the local government about Wonga's shirt sponsorship... the sight of kids in Meadow Well (and other ghettos) wearing them used to drive the local politicos, community leaders and Geordie fans groups ballistic...

Considering the uproar that happened when the Pozzos took over, I'm sure the Watford Supporters Club would have an interview or two with BBC 3 Counties about their 'concerns' if we were to be taken over by a Middle Eastern dictator.

I suspect the fear of causing that sort of eruption is the sole reasons the Pozzos aren't talking to this guy.

I did expect 'better' from this, usually, erudite Geordie:
It also looks like the PL is maintaining the flexibility of its 'rules' about ownership to accommodate the Geordie takeover (WARNING Daily Heil link):

Moral squirming at it's finest. Justifying the takeover because what about all those other instances. The fickle football fan rears their head again.

Hopefully they'll bring Khashoggi's ex-fiance to St James' as a guest of honour next season.

Also, tbf, the usual suspects on here would defend such a move in pretty much the same way if we were in that boat. Football fans are invariably thick ****s.
