I really don’t think Aurier would get in our team.

Yeah, although Bournemouth and Brighton both have tricky looking away games next week.

    Spurs just equalised too.

Thank feck for that. Spurs equaliser. Still fancy Villa to at least get a point

'It's not football anymore' chant the Villa fans as the decision correctly goes against them.

Admirable as they did the same when Mings didn't get a deserved second yellow against us.

    Oh hang on.

That's what happens when you actually threaten from corners.

Spurs wasting chance after chance after chance.

Villa showing more fight than our shirkers.

  12. It's at this point that our lot will be backs to the wall defending, hoofing the ball out, and waiting for the inevitable last minute goal from the opposition.

Villa are still going for it.

    That will be the difference.

Dele Alli is the most overrated player in the history of football.

Surely Sols goal shouldn't count. I thought it was only WFC that made errors in defence.

Deserved win for Spurs, Villa were riding their luck for almost the entirety of the second half. Phew.

Real blow for Villa. No two ways about it: that’s a great result for us.

  25. I'll stand by it as well.

At least they play as if they want to win and were unlucky not to in the end. Deserved more than they got.

We've deserved everything we've got last few games.

I know Newcastle are one of the teams we’re supposed to be chasing, but I can’t help wanting them to beat Arsenal.

Pearson recently brought on Welbeck and Success so we could keep going for the win and that didn’t go well..
He’s damned if he does (go for it) and damned if he doesn’t.
Much of recent poor form has been down to individual brain farts.

You can't accuse us of not going for it against Everton, even if the method left a lot to be desired (not least our naivety in pushing for a win by playing against ten men as if it were seven and getting exposed for their winner). It's in away games that we've tended to sit back and it's cost us - Flores rightly got the boot after letting slip a lead at Southampton, but it seems it's also a mentality in the team that Pearson has yet to cure - we don't seem to have the courage of our convictions to kill the game off away from home. We'll need significant improvement in this area, as without it a team that doesn't win at home until nearly Xmas can't expect to stay up with only two away wins in 13.

And I'm not sure if Villa deserved more than what they got - Spurs missed a lot of good chances to get at least the winning goal earlier.

Well done Spuds. Thank god for that. We still need to perform in our own games.

Oh, and Newcastle got hammered to match our goal difference, like Southampton and Villa have after their latest defeats. The first two only have an outside chance, but things can change very quickly in football, look at the Scum going from ten points from safety to having a glimmer of hope in a week.

Looking at Newcastle's fixtures I'd have thought that they should still be on course for a minimum of 38 points though (which would remain a big challenge for us to get to).

They play both Villa and West Ham at home, for instance. It might rather be in our best interests for Newcastle to win both of those.

  33. I do vaguely remember an occasion where Success was brought on but those memories tend to get compartmentalised and buried in the deepest depths of my brain.

  34. But against Villa and Brighton we sat back, stopped playing and when it was clear to everyone that we needed to freshen it up we did nothing. No subs, no change of formation. We all saw those goals coming and yet the team and management did nothing to at least switch it up a bit.

I've no confidence that if we get a lead, even by 2 goals, that we'd hold on to it right now against anyone in this division.

    And that's my big worry.

  35. 4-0 Man City and we go up to 18th!
