Newcastle winning as well. Lose today and we could be adrift. Sheff Utd winning too.

Newcastle two up and Villa beating Liverpool! We are massively not having the rub of the fixtures so far!

That’s about right every result going against us so far by the end of the day we could be well and truly fcuked

Could these results be going any worse for us?

    Yes. Norwich could be winning.

We’re going to be the only team that doesn’t pull off the upset.

    You love to see it.

Remember when Robinson scored that freak goal at WHL that Foster let in? If the same thing happened to day with us in a winning position...

Completely agree. There are no excuses for relying on other results.

QSF is not the man to get enough wins to keep us up. I wonder how much longer they'll stick with him. Norwich is a MUST win game now. As it stands, I doubt many will be confident of a result at Carrot Road.

As much as it was the correct decision to sack JG, I can't help but wonder if other heads should have rolled. The lack of preparation in pre-season won't be entirely down to the head coach. I understand that Gino can't sack himself, but it seems like other members of the hierarchy are getting away with being **** at their jobs.

I was just about to post how tedious Everton v Spurs is when Alli cheered me up by scoring

Everton have to come out now so might liven this up .

    More VAR involvement though!

Goodness me - got time to get a pint it took so long .

If the criterion was clear and obvious error, should have been quick decision of no pen.

If VAR was to get the right decision, it was right to take a long time over a difficult call, but the pen should have been given.

VAR not working again. What a shock, Anthony Taylor is incapable of making a correct decision no matter how many chances he has to watch an incident.

Horrendous ankle injury for Gomes of Everton. His right foot turned 90 degrees to his leg with his foot pointing to the outside.

Well that was a nasty injury but was Son unlucky to get red carded ?

The injury was caused by the 2nd incident.

  22. Think the pen appeal wasnt given because there looked like a marginal graze of Mina's shoulder. Too close to call that it didn't change the direction of the ball so Alli had no chance to react.

Not a red for son. Not really even a yellow IMHO. Just an unfortunate accident. Will be rescinded. May not be in a fit state to play next game mind.

    so why can't VAR over-rule it ?

  24. VAR refs probably panicked and sh*t themselves because of the leg break and cowered away like the faceless cowards they are this season rather than make an actual decision.

    Just my opinion of course!

Didn’t VAR give the red? First card shown was a yellow or did ref change mind after seeing the injury?

The ref changed his mind having seen the injury .

They said Son endangered Gomes by tripping him causing the 2nd incident .

Thing is, most of the time the outcome is irrelevant. You can make a perfectly fair tackle and take someone’s leg off. Or make a horrendously mistimed dirty hack of a tackle and not cause a scratch. I hope an experienced ref like Atkinson did it under advice from VAR rather than because of the injury.

Dunno. Wasn't watching. Just seemed odd that with VAR in play how a decision could retrospectively be overturned.

Yep. This reminds me a bit of Shawcross' challenge that resulted in the Ramsey injury - one sees worse tackles than it in the league every weekend (often also just yellows) but the officials overreact due to its unfortunate effect.

Although in this case, because people generally like Son, they aren't spitting blood at him, unlike what was directed at Shawcross afterwards.

Southampton v Everton tomorrow looks important for us now. I guess anything but a Southampton win will be alright?

Perhaps, but I'm one of those that reckons an Everton win would be much more preferable - Everton will find a way to stay up somehow whereas Saints could have real problems and it'd be good if we can remain above them.

Yes we need 3 crap teams we can finish above. I think Soton and Norwich will need to be 2 of the 3.

Everton doing us a favour keeping us 18th. Bit worried about Burnley though, playing really well today. But saying that gamed against them are always tight.
