You got a username like that and you think curries are overrated?? Unless you meant Edwina, curry is the perfect food. I genuinely could eat one 6 days a week.

Went to oz on Holiday last month. Bondi beach has to be one of the most overrated beaches in the world. I get that it’s a beach in a city, which is fairly rare and obviously not something we can boast about having in London, but there really is nothing special about it at all. I honestly think Brighton is better.

Gin. Try as I like I just get into it, it just doesn’t taste that nice to me, even with the 1000 different varieties we now have.

Pulled pork, mostly has the consistency of dog food.

Jäger bombs. I physically cannot drink them now, what a vile concoction, something new needs to be invented.

 

Yeah, tacos are my other guilty pleasure.

 

Mexican food.

Looks like **** & tastes like ****.

 

Social media.

Those of us who were around before the M25 existed will remember that it used to take hours to drive from, say, Hertfordshire to Surrey. The advent of an orbital motorway seemed like the best thing since sliced bread then. Of course it’s very popularity soon made it the car park it is today.

BTW sliced bread is overrated.

Absolutely this! Spent a long time in Australia, and it is comfortably one of the worse - not to mention that Bondi itself is a dump. Did you get the chance to go to the other side of the bay and see Manly beach (insert jokes here), on the north shore? So much better.

As for overrated - the "cinema" experience. Usually find the air-con is set to freeze-your-bollox-off mode; no matter where you sit, some ****head will be stuffing his face and playing on his/her phone; and the whole "experience" will have been too expensive considering the film - as usual - has turned out to be *****.

Didn’t got to Manly, but I have been before all be it about 20 years ago. I didn’t visit Bondi when I last came so decided to check it out, but I couldn’t believe how underwhelming it was. We were only in Sydney for essentially three full days so couldn’t fit everything in. We did go to Watsons bay which I quite liked.

 

Good fish and chips at Watson’s Bay. Nice boat trip back to the city, too.

True, but I REALLY want them to be good!

 

As a former professional beach bum, all Sydney beaches are over-rated in my opinion - too crowded & too polluted. Australia's best are to be found north of Brisbane, from about Noosa up to Cape York.

Admittedly you may have to look past the saltwater crocs, stingers, irukandji, blue-ringed octopuses, stonefish , sea snakes and the occasional shark - but they are well worth the effort.

 

What about utes? (Whatever the heck they are)

 

Cape Tribulation is nice. Did you ever get the chance to visit Turquoise Bay in Exmouth, WA? It's the polar opposite to this threads title, and includes the Ningaloo Reef which is excellent for snorkelling but with the bonus of having far fewer visitors than the Great Barrier Reef (only downside is that it's a bloody long way away from anything!) Managed to visit there during my backpacking days.

 

The fisherman's friend. They kept the smell of bait & fish out of the cabin, allowing for romantic trips to the drive-in cinema..

No - I never got over that way. As you say, it's a bloody long way from anything - and anywhere. The nearest I've been to there would be Darwin - probably half way between Turquoise Bay and Cairns.

 

On our trip we spent some time in Port Douglas and a lot of the beaches either side of it. We went to cape trib. Amongst others. Some seriously stunning beaches, even though as you say it’s ill advised to even put a toe in the water!

 

Anal sex. All this fuss and it just hurts and makes it harder to hold your poos in.

 

Breast enlargement.

They’ve offered me Russian women, Muslim women, I think it was women from Twickenham &, on the basis of inertia, the algorithm has concluded the way forward is breast enlargement.

On this basis, driverless cars scare me.

 

Champagne. Horribly dry stuff. Prosecco or Cava with some cassis or peach juice is a fraction of the cost and tastes great.
