What you are suggesting is more of a 4-2-4. You seem to expect Welbeck with his one good leg and a very eager, very attacking but new forward in Sarr to hoof up and down the flanks while Hughes pretends he’s Messi. Would be disappointing if Chalobah can’t play. I’d like to see him with Doucoure and Quina in the middle. I hope we get Sarr on one side of a 4-3-3 and a big youthful surprise on the other with one regulala up front.
It isn’t because I haven’t listed 4 strikers? Sarr is a winger and Welbeck has played in the position in suggesting as well. Hughes has the stamina to play in that CAM role and so does Quina - it doesn’t makes them strikers. They can play in the advanced role whilst dropping in alongside the 2 more central midfielders when defending. I don’t expect Welbeck to finish the game or Sarr for that matter. But they should be capable by now of going 60-70 mins in the positions I’ve said. It’s Coventry at home. We should play an attacking line-up. Saying we should play 4-3-3 is only marginally different to what I’m suggesting!
I quite like that. But I think Sarr and Welbeck might be considered for half a game on the grounds I want them out there at Newcastle. Ditto Quina. Capoue is a senior (and excellent) player, but I'm not convinced about him in the skipper role. Difficult from that line-up. Janmat?
Capoue has been captain when Deeney and Gomes aren’t out there. I’d expect one of Gomes or Capoue out there. I went with Capoue on the basis that I don’t want Gomes to play ahead of Bachmann or Dahlberg.

I'm fine with him signing the extension to help João Pedro, but we have three keepers on the books who are all probably better than him now, or at the very least more promising. No need for him to play sigh
He should be nowhere near second choice. We should be developing our younger keepers rather than a 38 year old relic who is in huge decline.
I was disappointed when he signed again, but I don’t believe the club is sentimental. I think they look at it from the POV of what happens if Foster is out from early on in the season? Do we trust Bachman and Dahlberg to be one and two in the Premiership? If the conclusion they came to is ‘no’ then I imagine they had their reasons.
