Agreed; and I think he’d be reasonably happy to see out his contract with us. No need to move his family etc & not really all that fussed about football in itself.

I’m sure many of us remember the great Clive Thomas moment when he disallowed a Brazil winning goal, blowing for full time with the ball in the air from a corner. He had the ability to time the 90 minutes down to the second!

Having risen from 5% to 50% in my view over recent weeks, gut feel say we're back down at about 25-30% to survive now. Certainly not impossible but looking unlikely.

If we decide that the games against Chelsea (a) & Liverpool/Citeh (h) are "write-offs", that leaves 10 other matches.
By the same token, we should discount Pearson's first game in charge as it was at Liverpool, so his points record is 14 in the other 8 games, ie 1.75 per game.
The same level of return = 17.5 points, so 40/41...a tough ask but nowhere near impossible. I do not subscribe to the view that 42 or more will be required to stay up, but it may well be 39/40.

Chelsea have lost at home to West Ham, Bournemouth and Southampton. I’m not writing that one off.

Yep. He of course is a prime asset for us. But I don’t think we’d get enough money to make it worth selling him.

True though if a newly promoted club wanted him and he wanted to stay in the prem we'd more than likely sell to get him off the wage bill.

I'm sure plenty will disagree, but I'm becoming less and less bothered if we go down. Obviously I don't want us to but if we do get relegated then I'm ok with the fact that it's our own doing.

The club will survive, I'll still go and watch them, the squad will hopefully have a clear out and we'll then see the likes of Wilmot, Quina and Penaranda playing regularly. Plus Tuesday night games!

Of course I want the club to be successful but what are we actually doing in the Premier League except treading water and bringing in the cash? At the same time you could say the whole point of the Championship is to get promoted to the Premier League so why would we want to leave it! If we do stay up then hopefully the club learns from their mistakes and we still clear out the deadwood.

We’re losing cash not bringing it in.
As you say, football is effectively meaningless.

Well if we stay up and are able to keep the team that performed so well during the first seven games of Pearson's reign and add more strength in depth in defence and up front then we could do really this well at this level for once.

The trouble is, depending on how long Sarr's out and his form when he returns, thanks to our awful start and ******* away points when he's been out, we may not get a chance to find out whether or not that'll happen.

Fingers crossed we lose every game between now and the end of season. Bring on the Championship 2020/2021.

Unfortunately I think we will struggle badly with the transition into a champ squad and finances. However I think the following 2021/22 season in Div 1 will be full of glory and contain at least one victory over our friends up the road.

    Everything is meaningless.
There’s nothing new under the sun, as the Great Book tells us.

However, there is meaning to life and beyond (think Hornet Heaven), and Watford in the Premier League is a part of that.
    We need to stay up.

Or gone straight back up from League 1, which could happen give how poor the standard of that division seems to be in comparison to the Championship nowadays.

Just back on line in Tanzania. Did I read NP made some statement about relegation battle not being as bad as wild dogs ? Well we came to Selous reserve in Tanzania specifically to see wild dogs having missed them on the 10 or so African safaris we’ve been on over the last 12 years. And we saw them for the first time in the wild on Sunday. Don’t tell me that’s a coincidence. It’s a sign. The surest sign yet. Good or bad though ?

Good to see the scum now 10 points from safety.

It would be 'very Lutony' for them to survive in the Championship being that far behind.
