Could the forgotten men ride to our rescue? Sema has been getting decent reviews so far, and it appears that Peneranda put in a reasonable performance last night and even Sinclair has been getting decent reviews. Who knows maybe even Success might even start achieving some long awaited "Success" And could the "Piece de Resistance" be the re-birth of Andre Gray? It would be quite ironic if this were to happen, maybe Vlad could be the key to finally unlocking these guys potential
Well Gray was well on the path to rehabilitation before his injury in pre-season. Sema will be an absolutely vital member of this team, he's currently our most suitable LWB, but he's a bit wasted there really. Penaranda was pretty good yesterday, I hope to see more of him. Good a good half of football under his belt, and with the squad looking as bare as it is at the moment, could he be a potential starter for the weekend? Don't expect Sinclair to play much of a role, he's tried hard, but doesn't have much quality, might play him in the FA Cup against lower league opposition, or sub him on against Wycombe or Rotherham, but that's about it
Some of them have some talent. Perhaps Ivic is the man to give, say, Penaranda some confidence and a run of games.
Penaranda does not give me the impression of someone who lacks confidence. Ultimately, of course, who knows? But when I've seen him play he has reminded me of one of those kids in the playground who holds on to the ball, dribbling on and on and especially showing up the also-rans. I could half expect him to say "It's my ball and I get to pick the teams and I say it was a goal". Hard to justify, I know, but it's what I think of when I see him. Maybe it's the blonded hair, the cute curly moustache and the quadruple ear-rings. Call me old and stuffy but - FFS. Of course, he does have skills - maybe Ivic is the one to direct them to good use.
He so far strikes me as the sort of player you wouldnt pass to in 5-a-side because he would never ever pass the ball back, would insist on showing he could dribble the ball into the net, and inevitably give it away every time. He also kicks the ball weirdly.
I used to play 5/7 a side in China with a Venezuelan guy who looked just like Penaranda and played exactly like that. I'm not saying it was him, but it's not like we saw him much in England, is it?
Yes as they were forgotten or rotting in the stiffs until Vlad came along and started to play them, it might be what they need to finally bring out the obvious potential they had when we first bought them. Either way they might suddenly come out of their shells and come good, or if not we might finally get rid of them, that's a win win in my eyes.
Yes, it's a win-win as long as you completely ignore the most likely option which is a lose - we don't get rid of them, they don't improve and we continue paying them full whack to play a couple of Carabao cup games a season
We're already doing that, but hopefully by playing them we will either get the best out of them and they might come good or if not then maybe someone might see their rare flash of decent play and actually think they are worth signing.
