Will we need anymore points? If we went into relegation form <1 point a game we would be fine especially when the two teams below are in bottom half form

Derby, PNE, and Millwall would be great. If Carlsberg did Saturdays .

Quite possibly not, Brentford have a slightly easier run-in than us, but it wouldn't surprise me if they fail to reach 82 points. On the predictor thingy, I think I have them down for 84 points (6 behind us although I had us drawing tonight), including a draw between us at their place

Just had a look on Brentford and Narge forums to get a feel for what they’re thinking.

Wow we seem to have rattled a few just by existing.

Special shout goes out to that weirdo for Brentford called Banana who needs his hard drive checking.

Even though it won’t be mathematically confirmed next week, at the end of the season I think it will be shown that the points we gain from our win at L*t*n will be the ones that clinch promotion.

If we keep on winning, then I'll be following the battle at the bottom which could be quite an exciting and close fought race.

At the moment the favourites to go down are the current bottom three, but that could change as Sheff Wed have shown some signs of life with surprise results against Barnsley and Cardiff and probably have the easiest run-in.

The teams to join Wycombe could include one or more of those who have looked safe for weeks, like Derby who play Wednesday at home on the last day, and/or even Blackburn who are in total freefall (if they go down it'll be ironic that I've suggested it after picking them not that long ago as the most likely team outside the then top six to get into the play-offs!).

They said on Sky we need 10 points so wins at Luton and v Millwall plus 2 draws and that if Brentford won all their games left.

The relegation battle is looking really tight! Sheffield Wednesday are looking a decent team all of a sudden, played well against us and have picked up some very good results apart from that, got some decent fixtures to come too. Brum look a solid side too now that Bowyer has them playing to their strengths, Rotherham of course have lots of games in hand but I think will understandably run out of puff in the end. Don't rule out Huddersfield for the drop yet, let's see how they react to getting ****ed by Norwich, or Coventry, who had been looking quite shaky before winning over Easter

That'd mean we'd need 2 more points to seal it mathematically, unless one of the draws comes against them. Unlikely we'll need that many though as Brentford are looking tired and a shadow of what they were earlier in the season without their two best players

I'd forgotten about Huddersfield, but I think they'll be OK. They have four home games left, against fellow strugglers Rotherham and Coventry and play-off chasers Bournemouth and Barnsley. It's possible they may choke against Rotherham, but Coventry have the worst away record and might still be safe by then, and Huddersfield do quite well against the better sides, and they also have Forest away who will surely have nothing to play for. Blackburn have Cardiff away and then have five games all against teams below them, time will tell if that's a good or bad thing.

I’ve had the odd scan of the Brentford forum from game to game and a recurring theme is parachute payments. They’re very bitter about them which I kind of get, because of course it makes their job harder every season as far as promotion is concerned. That said, a lot of them are saying they should be scrapped, which is a little daft to me because presumably they have designs on being a premier league club and if they do then under the current system they’d have zero chance of sustaining themselves if they were scrapped. I’ve banged on about alternatives on other threads, but I think they need to suck it up and accept its part of the nature of what they want to become, not to mention the fact they’ve had plenty of opportunities to get them themselves.

The win over Reading feels like one foot is through the door. I’m not celebrating yet though.

Brentford need to win 4 out of 7 just to match our points right now.

If Brentford drop points today then a win at Lut*n will basically do it.

Would love to see Norwich, Swansea and Brentford all drop points today.

Glad we have an 8 day rest. Hopefully Cleverley will be on the bench against Lut*n.

We’re nearly there. Hopefully our boys stay focused on hunting down Norwich. I said if we beat Reading we go on to win the title. I stand by that comment.

Starting from Munoz’s first game in charge and including the 3 points we got from Norwich, we’ve made 1 point up on Norwich in 21 games.

If you want to be generous starting from after the Coventry epiphany and before the 3 points from Bristol City we’ve made 3 points up on Norwich in 13 games.

We aren’t making 5/6/8 points up on them over 5.

I just have a feeling there is one twist left this season. Norwich to lose to Derby and it’s all to play for.

I’m not fussed about catching Norwich, I think it would be a bit of a hollow victory. They’ve been relentlessly consistent all season and had us at arms length the entire time. Even in our sustained period of excellent form we’ve made barely any points up on them. Our form since Coventry has been so exceptional, that it’s not as if our form in the final 5 games can improve, it can only stay as it is. So if we catch Norwich over 5 games it’s not because our from has Improved, because it can’t, it’s because they got mathematically promoted then gave up. That’s the only reason we’ll make up as much as 8 points in 5 games, compared to making up just 1 point in the previous 20 games.

I backed every outcome that saw us get promoted when we played Brighton in 2015
    Watford to win at Brighton
    Rotherham to draw with Norwich
Fulham to beat Middlesborough paid around £200 profit. I remember buying a 50 quid cuban cigar to celebrate that night.

Aston Villa last season made up 7 points on us in 4 games. They were 1/10 to go down the sunday that they hest Crystal Palace so not totally giving up on catching Norwich. The fixtures below look extremley difficult. With all clubs except QPR needing something. There is a chamce when we play Brentford snd Swansea they are focused on play offs and resting players. There is still slight hope for the title.
    Norwich
    Derby A
    Bournemouth H
    Watford H
    QPR A
    Reading H
    Barnsley A

Sorry, disagree. Winning our highest ever honours would most definitely not be a hollow victory. I do, however appreciate its very unlikely.

I agree on both points. The prizes are decided over 46 games not 41. The order in which points are gained is irrelevant.

Yes, it would be nothing more than a coincidence if Norwich canter to mathematically confirmed promotion and then their form collapses, wouldn’t it.

Those games could all be potential banana skins for Narrich; Derby are fighting for their lives; Muff are fighting for the Playoff's; We want the title ; QPR are no pushovers especially at home; We saw what Reading are capable of last night and Barnsley are looking good for the other promotion spot.

When you look at those games, we could indeed just pip them at the post providing we keep on winning beating them in the process and they slip on a couple of those banana skins.

I think people also need to allow for the possibility that after a long season, once we’re mathematically promoted, players like Saar who have played virtually every game get an early rest and fringe players get a run out.

Now that we've got Reading out of the way, I wonder if our run-in is easier than Narch's? Barnsley are flying, Reading still look dangerous, us of course, I wonder if they'll prove to be more difficult games than Brentford and Swansea? Still don't fancy us for the title mind you!

I’ve actually changed my mind, I think it would be great to win the title just to see the mental gymnastics some of the pundits will have to go through to rationalise it. If we win the league, how will people like Lee Hendrie cope with explaining it without their brains exploding, considering Brentford are the best team in the League, let alone Norwich?

Been thinking the same. Xisco and his staff deserve massive respect for how they've turned things around. But we all know the capabilities of Gino. I hope he stays but with Rafa coming in too if possible as his mentor, a Keith Burkinshaw type that Hooffers had.

Norwich fans seem to have a bizarre hatred of us, no idea why? Brentford fans just seem arrogant. Maybe because they have been a good team for the last couple of seasons or maybe because they've been listening to that helmet Frank for a few years.

We still need Brentford to drop points. If they win their 2 games in hand and win at home against us they would be 3 points behind.
If they win all 7, extremely unlikely of course, they’d end on 91 points so we would need 10 points to finish above them. 3 wins and a draw from those 4 other games.
It’s looking great but I won’t assume we are promoted until it’s certain. Just like last year when safety looked almost certain but wasn’t guaranteed.
It’s like a snooker final, first to 17, and we are 15-8 up. Looks pretty certain but we do still need something.

It’s entirely different to last year. The gap was much, much smaller then and I for one never thought safety was anywhere near certain (I know others did).
