Jesse Marsch from Salzburg would be my first choice.
Gerardo Seoane from Young Boys would be a shrewd appointment too.

Would be equally happy with Eddie Howe but can't see it as I think he will want more control than we tend to offer coaches - would need Gino to change his ways...which may have more chance of happening than in the past but I'm still sceptical.

Rafa Benitez with Xisco as Assistant/First Team Coach seems the obvious play though I think. Would not be at all surprised if the wheels are already in motion on this - but the club will understandably be cautious about this getting out before the correct timing if it is.

I think the Benitez thing would make sense - he'd surely be one of the only managers that Xisco would be willing to be demoted for/serve an apprenticeship under. If we want to keep Xisco as manager, the badges issue will likely be resolved one way or another, whether by securing dispensation from the PL or bringing in a qualified coach to be the de jure manager while Xisco remains de facto at the helm.

Marsch is quality and I'd love to have him and I also rate Seoane. But all of our Pozzo-era PL appointments have had Big 5 experience - a clear pattern. Maybe Marsch is high enough profile that they'd be willing to make an exception for him but I doubt Seoane would be. Spaletti, Favre, Jardim and Setien would be pluasible and suitable appointments - all available too. Supposedly we came close to appointing Setien to replace QSF before he got the Barca job.

I don't rate him as a manager, but the pull factor could be important, got a load of top talents on loan at Derby, I wonder if he came here, would it help us to attract an Abraham type?

I feel that way too LBH. Also, listening to his interview, I think Troost-Ekong should get some credit for being prepared to call things out and getting everyone together.

Absolutely. TE deserves a lot of credit for that. His father in law is a STH in the Rookery so he probably gets first hand experience of fan frustration.

There are a core group of players at Watford who make the place tick. There were a core group of players who were difficult and they were outnumbering the good. The dial has been changed on that now and the good outnumber the bad.

It's nice to see some pride back in performances regardless of the outcome this season.

He has his weaknesses as a player, but I can't help but think how lucky we were that the (sometime) Nigeria captain is from down the road and happened to know the owners beforehand. In an age where our players are more likely to come from South America than Hertfordshire, I think it's fantastic that we've got a foreign player who happens to have such close links to Herts

I cant imagine Benitez will come here and we wont be willing to pay his wages. Would be an insane appointment though.

Likewise I'd imagine Marsch would have more attractive suitors than us, not least because the Leipzig job will always be an option to him

Looks like we are after a deal for Toney if we go up and Brentford don't...

It's a swap deal with Andre Gray for £30m, or £25m without Andre Gray.

Why would we give them more if we were giving them Gray, or is that part of the joke?

I’d love Benitez, if only to see how much it’d piss off that Newcastle journalist who called us a Pygmy in a land of giants.

Does it? Where have you seen/heard it? Toney will do a good job in the Prem next season - for someone else

  18. If Norwich win tomorrow and Brentford don't, they are promoted. (barring Swansea winning every match, Norwich losing every match and a 22 goal swing).

Yes, between each match we as fans panic, even if we win tonight there's still a bit to go yet.

I've had to back us at ridiculous odds odds (11/2) not to go up just to feel better. I do not. Surely the bookies are no mugs!

I am a mess. I feel our relegation was unjust as rules changed half way through season. To go down by 1 point when everyone is winning and making 5 subs was devestating. Can you imagine the atmosphere at Arsenal if fans were allowed in. During a global pandemic getting relegated was a cruel blow. I really badly want us to bounce back and have a fair crack st premier league status. But with 6 games left its tense, listened to Brentford on radio on tues. Not done that for a decade for football.

Is it any more of a 'Watford' thing to do than any other club tbf? I'm sure Brentford will be saying they're 'doing a Brentford' at the moment as their hopes fade

I hope Reading get that playoff spot. Really good performance if lacking a killer finish. Olise is a hell of a footballer.

Would be beautiful if we dropped Swansea into 7th on the final day.

Yes you are right. But after watching us over a very long time you do become a bit of a half empty type. Great win tonight
Btw I must admit I didn’t see that second half performance..excellent.

Don't really care much for either team, but yes, I'd rather the team who try to play football get into the play-offs. Had them missing out by a point, and that was taking into account that I had this down as a draw (I have us beating Swansea on the final day), so it's gonna need a big effort from them as well as a continuation of the Swansea collapse
  33. Supertommymooney

It's also remarkable how much you hear about what a great job Cooper is doing, but I've not read/heard anything about the Reading manager really.

    Done the predictor again.

Got us dropping points v Norwich (Losing) and Brentford (Drawing) and still going up by 6/7 poin
