Penalty was correct though. The disallowed goal is a complete joke but that is a penalty. Not sure why he said corner to start with though but if the decision is actually correct then no problems.

Yeah of course. If those events cost us promotion, I'll be sure to remind myself that things could have been worse and we'd got a fair result and promotion through the proper use of the technology.

Even more so if we have to sell any remaining talented players to stop the club going bust.

You do realise that technology works both ways ?
And that every decision against us that is corrected will be cancelled out by a decision for us that is corrected ?

  5. GoingDown

    GoingDown "The Stability"

Yes, I do realise that. I'm not sure of the relevance however.

  6. Davy Crockett

The relevance is that we can just accept human error from a referee , and celebrate a goal immediately one is scored or tolerate VAR based buffoonery and when a goal is scored remain calm for 30secs or so until someone in a portacabin miles away from the ground has found insufficient evidence to disallow it .

Incorrect. The Boro player got there first and the Swansea player kicked through the back of his leg .

So again, you'll happily stay in the Championship due to incorrect decisions and watch the club tread water financially more than they do now? Because of some strange thought that you can't celebrate a goal? Last season I celebrated goals anyway. Meh. If it's not a goal, it's not a goal.

Also, promotion means VAR, so I guess you'd prefer staying down anyway.

There's nothing wrong with that opinion by the way.

I'd like Norwich to join us, not bothered about their style of play, but they don't scare me one bit, we beat them deservedly even when we were in a state of flux. The pandemic hasn't affected them nearly as badly as us, they are a much more settled team, but I think if we were allowed to rebuild in the Premier League we'd catch up rapidly with them

I don't have an issue with the decision as it was clearly a penalty. The route to that decision is the issue. A corner was given and he simply changed his mind with the only input being from the Swansea players. Something very odd about that. Don't think I've seen something quite like that before.

I never said that . These are your words.
We have been shafted by decisions against Bournemouth in both matches and other games
We have also benefited from dubious decisions
Yesterday for example an over officious VAR operator may have ruled out our goal for a foul
by Gray if VAR was being used.

Us, Norwich and Barnsley. It might just be a huge purple patch for them atm, but they seem to be playing really well. They beat us at Oakwell (and rightly so, we were abysmal) and we scraped past them at home with a penalty. Decent fans' too. They would be seen as relegation candidates along side Norwich but they deserve it if they continue to play well and bank the points. I'd love Muff to miss out - just for both games against them alone.

If we go up by 1 point ahead of Brentford I'll be thankful there was no VAR to cancel our goal against Stoke at home

VAR would have given us a win over Brentford don't forget. Percia's winner incorrectly ruled out for offside late on.

Isn't he a bit too old to be a referee? Turned 50 last year.

He could at least try to lose some weight, look at Chris Hughton who at 62 shows that at least some people in football can be slim past 40.

Barnsley are a huge wildcard, Struber did a great job with them, struggled early this season as they just didn't score enough goals, but their new USA international looks a bit handy at this level! On paper, they're average Championship players, but they're exceptionally well-coached and play better against the bigger teams, my only worry about them is that they have a very energetic style of play which could come back to bite them at the end of the season

Brilliant goal by their American chap yesterday.
    Ridiculous celebration however!

Wouldn't they have disallowed our penalty for offside in the build-up? Would have been a goal and a red card taken away, probably got away with one all told in terms of decisions in that game

    Why is it "tough" ?
They are bottom half and have only won one of their last 8 ? Swansea are likely to be 2 points above us after that game with a game in hand.

We also had Derby's goal against us incorrectly ruled out. Their goal looked a little suspect but I don't think it was clear either way, without the pube hair lines of VAR.

Either way the point is things tend to even themselves out, and VAR is *****, and anyone who likes it is a boring dullard

BTW the only time Brentford can fit in their Rotherham fixture is in between the last 2 fixtures which could benefit us as we shall have a weeks rest and preparation whereas Brentford will have a midweek fixture before the last round of matches.

Derby’s goal was probably incorrectly ruled out, but I don’t think they’d overrule the ref’s judgement and let it stand. It was a v harsh decision but not sure it was a ‘clear and obvious error’

It’s not before the last round of fixtures. It’s before the penultimate round. Which is against us.

When someone asks you a question, you could just answer it 'yes' or 'no' rather than say 'I never actually said that'. I wasn't asking if you said something, I was asking if you agreed with the comment.

Seems like a strange way of getting around what's obvious and that you'd rather stay in the Championship than have to face the pure, psychological horror of VAR again.

If that's your view, which you won't confirm or deny for some weird reason, that's totally fine. You aren't the only one.

True, but judging by the two games against us, I would say Blackburn have been the most troublesome of the mostly mediocre mid-table teams.

Ok but facts remain they've only won one of last 8 so maybe they will be "troublesome" but lose ? Then just 3 days later they play again against Brentford who will have had a nice 9 day break. Would be great if Blackburn won 6 points but I doubt they will get one. Poor form and nothing really to play for and no crowd to get them going.

They didn't cause us many problems when we played there but only four teams have scored more goals per game than them, and the one win was in the most recent game in that run, so while they blow very hot and cold they may have turned the corner. Also they don't exactly have nothing to play for, they still need another win or two to be safe.
