Are you talking about their current infrastructure (size of stadium, facilities, money available)? Because otherwise there's no way Brighton are much bigger than us; historically, they're very much a lower league club, like Swansea, Bournemouth and Brentford.

    yes. history counts for nothing.

Possibly,it's far too early to say.
However it is not unknown for both teams, players to 'choke',perhaps simultaneously, perhaps at different times during a match.
It's far too early to speculate, especially as we don not know where we will finish and therefore what is expected of us,or more correctly the team.
Therein lies the crux of the matter for me. We are powerless to intervene.
We cannot even support from the ground.
I vowed never to return to Wembley after the cup final...

How many of the team from the play off final, the previous semi final and the Championship decider are still here? Not many. Deeney? Cathcart possibly? If we are going down this route then in previous play off finals I would say we did anything but choke but they mean nothing now much like the games mentioned.
If we are to be in the play offs come the end of the season, I still think we have a great chance still of finishing top 2, then I'm sure like normal they will be tight affairs. We have just lost one game having won the previous 4 scoring 12 goals. We looked a little jaded Saturday, which having played three games in six days, the last of which had been 2 and a bit days previous, 200 miles away on an energy sapping pitch is not surprising.
You might be right that we lose in the play offs but they are notoriously difficult to predict. One quarter of the season to go and we are in with a chance and I would have taken that back when the season started. I know people thought we would pi55 the league but this league very rarely works like that as @The undeniable truth said on many occasions before the season started.
Wycombe on Tuesday is all that really matters at the moment

Out of all the top 8/9 teams in the Championship, I reckon Norwich might be quite a kind play-off draw, although it looks like they're cruising to the automatics. We beat them quite well earlier in the season, and that was with the gruesome twosome up front

Our previous play-off campaigns are ancient history now, do you think the players are even aware? If anything, the Cup final from 2 years ago might be more relevant seeing as a fair chunk of the current team were involved, but probably more than anything the lack of a decent manager is what would hinder us most should we fail to get automatic promotion. That said, it is all random, and God knows how the other 3 teams will be holding up come the end of the season, we're starting to panic again because of a narrow defeat against a good Championship team, while Swansea have been beaten well by two very average teams, and Brentford are probably even more than us always an injury or two away from it all falling apart

Darren Moore (who I believe some wanted us to bring in to replace Ivic/Munoz after Coventry) has joined Sheff Wed from Doncaster. Definitely an interesting one not least because the clubs appear to be moving in different directions.

Thankfully, it is still a fair few games until we play them at home so hopefully they'll be done with any new manager bounce by then!

It does if you're Spurs and the other clubs in big cities who win a lot or used to.

    A) There are people on here who seem to be using 'choke' to describe 'being beaten'. Choke is a specific way of being beaten, where you under-perform because you cannot handle the pressure. From the outside, by audiences such as us, it is often hard to discern. We just guess it.
    B) What happened even just a couple of seasons ago, let alone 10 or 20, has virtually no bearing on what will happen next week in football. The press love to pick up on it, but they are just trying to fill spaces on the printed page or time building up to the commentary.

It's remarkable though how much they as well as Swansea have grown this millennium. Around the turn of the century both clubs were 90 minutes from going out of the Football League, and as recently as 2009 Brighton almost went back down to League 2 while still playing at a sub-10k athletics stadium. It's possible we won't be playing Brighton if we go up though, as Fulham are undergoing a resurgence and I've always considered Graham Potter to be an overrated manager whose teams, like with Martinez, are feted for playing nice football but he seems limited motivationally and/or tactically (how can a team deservedly win at Liverpool and then lose back-to-back games with Palace and West Brom)?

Did you see the stats for that defeat to CP though ? I think they had 25 shots and CP only had 3 with 2 on target shots and scored with both. Not sure if correct but I think the commentator said they scored with their only 2 touches in the BHA penalty area. In fact over their 2 games they had 43 shots to CP’s 3 yet CP got a win and a draw ! Especially funny given it’s a “derby” match. Less funny as it’s CP....
Then they lost to WBA after battering them and having a good goal disallowed and missing 2 pens.
They are playing great football but not getting the results they deserve. They would murder us right now unless their run of luck continued.

I’m not sure you can be unlucky for this long? Every time I’ve watched Fulham they’ve also looked really good, but ultimately they’re not doing the bit they need to do frequently enough which is put the ball in the back of the net more then the other team. It can’t be a coincidence that Brighton are more or less in the same position as last season, hovering just above the danger zone and flattering to deceive more often than not. It’s not as if Palaces forward players are particularly great, but don’t those stats just ultimately say more about the quality of theirs vs Brighton? And ultimately the Buck for that stops with potter. I think I’d always favour the team who don’t need as many chances rather than the one who consistently need a bucketful to still get less points.

They looked really good vs CP but just couldn't finish. You can't say it's not unlucky to have 25 shots and lose to a team who score 2 from only 2 touches in your pen area and then miss 2 pens and have a goal wrongly disallowed in the next game :). That was the point I was originally responding to "how can a team that deservedly beats Liverpool then lose to CP and WBA"....

Having two penalties brilliantly saved by the keeper is unlucky.
Having two penalties and not getting either of them on target is incompetence.

About time they got someone in, recent results have been horrendous.

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Wednesday since their 8-0 annihilation (that was shortly after I started taking an interest in football, previously I'd not even heard of them) and they came down with us the same season, and I feel a lot of sympathy for their fans because the years since for them have been largely awful with incompetence from the boardroom level through the managers to the players throughout. Getting relegated to the third tier for the third time would be an absolute disgrace, especially after they had seemed to turn the corner with a wealthy owner, pretty much clearing their debt and achieving two rare play-off finishes, so I hope they stay up, hopefully not at our expense!

After the Palace match I had a look on North Stand Chat and most, far from "woe is us,aren't we unlucky" expressed this sentiment and feared the worst.
This is an interesting diversion from the week ahead!

Brighton desperately need a goalscorer. We've got too many, so should we make the sacrifice of offering them Grey, Troy or Big Isaac. After all, their fans were very nice to us when we got promoted at their place.

In theory their free kick was rightly disallowed after the 2nd whistle went before the ball crossed the line.

Issue was the free kick being allowed to be taken straight away and all the confusion afterwards

As for the 2 penalties - well sums up their lack of ability to score!

Just saw a stat, cba to check it so not sure it's true, but after 33 games last season Leeds had 59 points, which is one less than we have now. Not sure what that tells you, but maybe the championship isn't as bad as people make out this season?

Blackburn, Derby and Coventry to win tonight. Us to win tomorrow along with Norwich. Oh and scum to lose.

Kazim Richards will need to score another goal like he did on Friday or Cardiff are into a play off place again.
He's not on the pitch at present so it maybe tricky!

They're on one hell of a run, scored four each time in their last two home games.
I think they lost Bennett to a bad injury tonight but they are steamrollering their way through.
Blackburn huffed and puffed but couldn't equalise having donated a goal to Reading.

I think Middlesbrough in 9th are the lowest placed team that has a realistic hope of getting to the play-offs, Stoke and Bristol City have a game in hand on Millwall but one doesn't score enough goals and is inconsistent and the other has left itself with too much to do. If neither Bournemouth nor Cardiff make it, for me it doesn't matter if we finish 3rd or 4th because none of the other teams worry me at all, but Cardiff look the toughest and will likely be the form team, and Bournemouth concern me (if only for their gamesmanship, and hopefully our players will be fired up enough after their recent encounter to give them the edge over two legs).
