Being close to Bmth I do hear things, and there's definitely something between the clubs that makes quite a big rivalry, but it's tangible because Bmth supporters do have quite a superior view of themselves, especially with regards their playing style over the last 10 years. They had those heady days of Ted Mac, Boyer, Redknap in the seventies and after the doldrums (including Pulis) they returned to "proper football" and EH was the messiah. He gave them a great period of success and their confidence was fired by the way EH got them playing (which was very good).
Their fans knew EH was blown last year but they feel the owner let him down and after 5 years of glory they feel pretty angry.
They NEVER forgave us for that huge walloping some years ago, but apart from their dire historic hatred of Soton and Pompey, we are now their closest modern adversary, and truth is both sets of supporters see our matches against each other as tough/major competition......
I think they've blown this season so they will hate us more, esp if we beat them well at their place...!

    Good post.

I will also add a few Watford fans I know hate them because of the fateful day in May. I would say to counter that however, is our hazardous marking for Sheff Wed's equaliser. We blew the title that day, Muff just picked up the pieces.

I don't get how Bournemouth, a team who has just been in the Prem for 5 years, could only get Woodgate, yet Bristol City got Pearson?

He might not be the best manager, but he's got a decent enough Premiership record. Others have a worse record/reputation and have landed jobs in the Prem.

Looks like the cheap option to me. Don't believe they've spent any money this season other than a small fee for Ben Pearson, and they've had to sell Ake, Wilson, Ramsdale and King. Think they may be in a tricky situation financially.

I fear they've had their form dip. Let them win it, jammy dodgers as I call them. For us it's runner up which at this moment in time, is still within reach.

I don't think this is really relevant to whether or not they are rivals or we should consider them as such. It's just that over time they have become an easy club to dislike and at the moment mock, and it's not just us fans that feel that way about them.

And we may not be a big club, but the clubs are certainly not comparable. Bournemouth have spent the vast majority of their history in the lower divisions, not just until 1979, whereas since then we've spent only two seasons below the top two tiers and Bournemouth are in just their 11th season in the upper divisions, which is less than we've had in the top flight. And as for our respective cup records - need I say more?

I don't think it's that reprehensible to get irritated with and make fun of a club that seems to have ideas above their station, especially when the "fairy tale" seems to be unraveling (I felt the same way about Wigan when they spent an inordinate amount of time in the top flight mostly making up the numbers, never getting the soft spot that fans of many other clubs felt for them). You may call it irrational, but that's part and parcel of football.

I can't see anyone catching the budgies with their three little birds in the team; Puke,Bon Jovi and the little girl are a good combination.
They do also have the knack of winning when not being spectacular.

I got my hopes up when it was 1-1 before I realized just now that even a draw would have been a pretty surprising result. Don't Birmingham have the worst home record in all four divisions?

Wycombe seem to have picked up a bit but I don't think they have the quality to put together a run of results to achieve a great escape like Luton annoyingly did last season.

We just need to focus on our own business rather than what Norwich are doing. Hopefully the chase will motivate the squad.

Reading have been absolutely ******* woeful in this game. Even worse than we were against Wycombe.

About as potent as our game v Cov a few weeks ago.

They cannot have been as bad as Millwall surely?
Yet they scraped a point despite Loon bringing on Ricky Hill,Brian Horton and Kirk Stevens to sew up the game.
Reading certainly seem to be faltering and missed a pen and played against ten men too.

It was the missed chances that cost us . If we had got that 2cnd then the last minute Wednesday goal
    would have been immaterial.

Reading are probably the most likely of the top six to drop out (many have been surprised they've been in the mix to begin with), Bournemouth may not have appointed the best manager but they have a fair bit of quality in their team that was evident at times even when Tindall was in charge and Cardiff and Barnsley are on very good runs, even Millwall and QPR might be dark horses.

We owe Bournemouth a beating after they stole a point from us in the corresponding home game, not the first time they have done that to us, Easter a couple of years ago anyone!

Only because they always seem to be around us in the table and the games are of importance. I don’t think there is much animosity between us. I certainly wouldn’t class them as a rival I was absolutely buzzing after the derby win and nervous all week leading to it, I dislike QPR and Palace way more than them and even MK Dons. I just find Luton fans a little annoying.

It was disappointing that even though they weren't there last night, the Millwall fans didn't somehow still manage to wreck the Kennel.
