I don’t ‘support’ Shamima Begum. I find it deplorable that she and her friends went to live in houses whose former occupants were murdered by IS. I find it disgusting that she felt it was ok to look for adventure in someone else’s country and that she supported IS and its war efforts to suppress people there. She should be punished.

What I also recognise is that she was 15, was ignorant in the widest sense of the world and after being groomed and used as a baby machine probably has PTSD. I don’t expect her to be able to return if the intelligence suggests she was a combatant and is a threat. But we do not generally consider that people who commit bad acts at 15 are beyond redemption, not her and not others like her.

You are doing it again, with this ‘you like the Muslims more’ shyte. You’ve not posted any ‘honest’ observations at all. You have a rank opinion, that Muslims in general are invested in terrorism, don’t care if it happens to someone else. Have a look and see if your own culture meets your standards and when it doesn’t then admit it’s wrong to generalise.

And for heaven’s sake, on a thread about murder of Muslim people you find a way to criticise them. Shame.

Prime Minister over there impressed me. Speaking to the Muslim community following the attack and gun law changes planned.

Teresa May would take a fortnight before deciding what to do next.

I think she’s a very impressive politician. They do still exist, then. Perhaps all hope for representative democracy is not yet lost.

Although TBF I thought the same about Justin Trudeau until recently, but he seems to have gone the way of others.

The time being taken to establish whether any filthy rich people could make some money out of any proposed law changes and failing that, ensuring that any filthy rich people are not going lose any money or current privileges out of any proposed law changes.

If I heard correctly on the news then semi-automatic weapons are legal in NZ. Why - except for specialised use by licensed users?

Because of the amount of 'introduced' alien species, hunting (eradication) of, primarily, big mammals in pretty much unrestricted - also don't forget that NZ is very rural. From what I remember, gun licensing was centred very much on what the local 'bobby' thought and knew of his/her local population (and firearm needs as there are various categories of licenses). I also seem to remember that there's a massive 'buy by mail' culture that 'just' requires the signature of a local cop to buy anything. I also seem to remember that NZ is one of the most legally 'tooled-up' populations on the planet.

Any farmer will tell you that controlling invasive pests like rabbits, squirrels or possums generally requires an assault rifle. And that is the only reason right wing survivalists nutters have them.

You're preaching to the converted but the point I was addressing was raised by @Sting was about semi-autos not assault weapons. There's a major ruck going on by the headbangers on ARRSE that posted something interesting (these images and commentary):

It's far from my comfort zone as I'm only licensed for shotguns but I *think* the images above are the same weapon just modded differently (and they're not semi-autos). I also think the only people who should get access to 'military grade' weaponry (which, incidentally, looking at this NZ is very touchy/strict about) are the military/cops.

If there was a textbook on how to react to this kind of thing if you are a leader then she owns a copy. Total class.

    They all do.

Trudeau was superb as an IG sensation & when being butch with Trump.

When life intervened, he has been as unimpressive, lazy & mildly venal as they all are.

Ardern seems a bit ‘look at me’.
